  • Can I recreate the Dark Matter distortion sounds with the TC Nova System? Or is it a completely different circuit? Is it analog or digital, or some of each? Thanks.

  • @jerseystringer It's analog. in both. - wether you can achieve the same sound on the Nova system.. You might be able to come close, but I don't think it's the same circuit.

  • i recently bought the dark matter , keep your money , very disapointed. Very low gain distortion and noisy!

  • @patlmable Thanks, the noise part concerns me. I think the tone in the video is excellent. As for gain, TC makes one with higher gain. This is the middle of the road zone I'm looking for. I have not taken a lot of time with the Nova System, but the distortion (analog or not) does not sound good to me. I'm also unhappy with the relative levels of overdrive vs distortion. Why should more distortion mean higher output? I'd expect that from Zoom, not TC. Levels should start "level."

  • @jerseystringer Levels should start level. I agree - I'll pass on your comment to the relevant people. Thanks for the feedback!

  • @tcelectronic Thank you very much. Feel free to contact me if you need clarification. Basically the Distortion is much louder than the Overdrive in the default settings. Since the Nova already has a boost, it seems unnecessary. I would expect some kick added to both distortion and OD, since they effectively compress by clipping, but there shouldn't be a major boost, and they should be approximately the same. Best regards. PS - TC makes great stuff. Thanks for passing the feedback along.

  • @jerseystringer - We very much appreciate the feedback - I'm having a meeting with the product manager on monday, and I'll definitely bring this up. Thanks again and have a nice weekend.

  • @patlmable 'Noisy' - Is not something we've heard before, sounds as if there might be a technical issue? - Could you contact the dealer who sold you the pedal, or at least our support, please? - But it's true that it's not super high gain. - We introduced the Röttweiler to cover that ground.

  • Is this a modeler

  • @92stone It's and analog drive pedal.

  • hi tc electronic, i want to know what suhr pickup you were using in this video? and its configuration please? very nice pedal, i want one!

  • @sild123 Tore is sometimes at hugeracks com guitarforum - ask him there, please? And yes, it is indeed a great drive pedal, thank you. :)

  • How about tone prints???

  • Are you all danes or? (:

  • Dark Matter Distortion is darn close to my 1987x plexi sound...depending on what guitar I used the amp makes a lot of humming sound and this pedal even sounds the same (a little noisey)...

Personally I wouldn't have named it "Dark matter distortion" I would have used the name "Brown" vs Black and called it an overdrive not a distrtion...The reason being this is a plexi sounding overdrive pedal.

Seeing this pedal without reading the description would suggest it's a metal distortion pedal...

  • @JBL8863 I think you're quite right and I think the newest drive pedal (the Röttweiler) was a response to that. Personally, when I play hardrock, this is more than enough, but I see where you're coming from.

  • @JBL8863 To be honest Brown Matter doesn't sound very attractive. :)

  • Denmark rules - the best, friendliest, most beautiful, caring and giving country I ever had the pleasure to travel to.

  • @peterstrohm - So glad to hear you've had that experience. :)

  • What is the name of orange guitar??? Its Fender??

  • This one sounds MUCH better than the Rottweiler, even for high gain !!!

  • Loved it!!!I want one for me!!!

  • hmm. i was expecting this pedal to be able to play metal =(

  • is it analog or digital unit?

  • Awesome you're playing on a Koch amp. Bought a Powertone II not so long ago, and it's so freaking good!

  • Please concentrate on your pronunciation.....

"when you said "hello I am TOOL from TC electronics" I almost pissed in my pants..

Other wise a great demo with good info.. Thank you and stay well.

  • @awesomejohnnet Just a thought, but I think he is probably the expert on how to pronounce is own name, what with the fact he's probably had it for a few years and being Danish himself. Besides, it's impossible to pronounce your own name incorrectly; It's pronounced however you decide it's pronounced! Plus, names don't change when you switch language. While we're on the subject, how's your Danish? Bet it's not as good as his English :)

  • @dbriley

Relax, Read my post, I said it was a great demo with good info...

It was just light hearted humour about what sounded like the guy calling himself a "tool" , dont so Danish sensitive. Relax,

  • I would love to hear the pedal without the delay or the pick sounds coming from the room mic.

  • Once again, Tore - brilliant demo! Wishing you the luck you deserve...

  • Tore you're a great guitarist! How often do you see manufacturers with bad demos and rely on other people to demo for them? But you're the sole exception so far. Nice chops!

  • I think my search is over ! >)

  • Do you think this pedal would work well with a plexi-type amp cranked?

or should i go for the mojo drive?

I'm planing to get my whole pedalboard loaded with these Tc pedals :)

Nice sound on the demo & great playing

  • @prkl6 Hi. - I think you should try both, before making up you're mind.

I would probably go for the Mojo, if I had my plexi cranked up.. - But DM might work better for you?

  • @tcelectronic Well i'll probably by the both anyway :) I think that it would sound awesome if you combine them..

  • I don't care for it.

  • HAhahahahah!! You could clearly hear he is danish :P

  • Is he danish?

  • @Pelleman666 Yes he is

  • i don't like the idea of toneprint anyways, so this probably would be one I might think about getting over the other of the new compact tc electronic pedals

  • why no toneprint on this one??

  • Sounds very versatile.

  • Oh and by the way, use a mic and turn of that delay, all i can hear is strings scratching and a really wet tone. There's a video on here for the delay pedal, adding other effects later to hear how it works with the distortion is fine but people want to hear the distortion more to decide whether they want to buy it or not (like me). Lol i know that's a lot of complaining, the pedal sounds great, you played really well...but this video didn't change my opinion in any way.

  • Wish you had just played some chords with the two pedals on. The pedals sound great but most serious guitar players these days need to be able to go from a slight blues twang to incredibly heavy chunky distortion for that nice palm muting chugg. From this video i don't think either of these pedals, alone or together, will accomplish that. I think what jsabo was getting at is that i still don't know how heavy it can go because he is playing blues and classic rock, spectrum people.

  • What type of delay are you using on the Flashback?

  • Dark Matter or Suhr Riot ?

  • sold!

  • 9V100MA like all the other Tone print pedals? Typically distortion or overdrives are way less then 100MA. Trying to figure power requirements I did not see it in the manual Thanks in advance

  • ummm... his playing style isnt very flattering for this pedal. he kills it on the flashback demo tho

  • @jsabo1929 Yes, any guitarist who does anything other than play thousand-mile-an-hour millionth-notes the entire time sucks. Happy 13th birthday.

  • @gwugluud wow chill out. im not talking about him not soloing the whole time. im talking about heavy music just not seeming to be his thing

  • @jsabo1929 plus he was playing with a single coil strat

  • Is this pedal really as "noisy" as it sounds here? At the very start before he starts playing, there's a load of hum and feedback and at 2.56 when he engages the pedal, there is a noticeable loud buzz..

  • how do these pedals compare to the Xotic AC & BB pedals? any comparisons? thoughts?

  • Where can I buy one of these?

  • Amazing! I wonder if I should get that wonderful Nova Drive or these two...

  • @bloodySunday77 I have the Nova Drive and its absolutely amazing!

  • With me personally, I prefer individual pedals; I like seeing where everything's set so I can make little mental notes for myself reflecting on the tone.

I think these pedals are an excellent idea!

  • tc, please upload something better than 360p. The audio in 360p on youtube sucks.

  • @veers0r the audio in 720p on youtube also sucks

  • turn of delay!! :-/

  • I know T.C. electronic is amazing because of the G-System and such, but this is kind of weird for me to see because it doesn't seem like they are bring much to the table, which is completely opposite of what they normally do, in essence the G-System. Anyone agree or disagree? I just feel like they should have spent their time working more on the G-Systems or its successors and the like.

  • Comment removed

  • This is not a new venture for TC Electronics: they have offered pedals before. Besides. not everybody needs the bells and whistles of the G-System or the Nova System: many players still prefer pedals. And from what I've heard so far, this series of pedals offers excellent quality.

  • @edovinus I'm not saying that they are bad quality at all, I just think its a weird move because like it or not there are many more pedal brands with much bigger names and out there for pedals, and many of them have great quality too. T.C. is a huge name, but not necessarily for pedals

  • @RKRClassic TC started as an effects company. I think their first product WAS a guitar pedal.

It's certainly not a new thing for them. And, I wouldn't say there are "many more" pedal brands much bigger than TC. There's a few. But, TC isn't a small name in the effects world.

  • @RKRClassic G system does not offer distortion or overdrive sounds. This is a different category of gear in the analog world. They make one of the best pedals, in my opinion.

  • Yea. Use some of that microphone technology and capture a good sound. Can hear the strings almost as much as the amp.

  • PLEASE record a review using a miced amp! Otherwise, it´s going to sound like any other demo on youtube.
