The director (there's information about him in the sidebar) just thought it would make a decent video and it turned out relatively well for what he was working with. You gotta give him that. in particular the way he just sounded like he was reading off a monotone, monologue he wasn't interested in. It lacked drama, was way too long for what it was, made Star Wars seem more like an overview in a course. etc.. Nice effort, but the timing and length don't work some how.

This was a video of him reading to an audience. It wasn't meant to be made into a video. The director (there's information about him in the sidebar) just thought it would make a decent video and it turned out relatively well for what he was working with. You gotta give him that. You might have missed the point though.
The point was that civilization is like the death star and it's destroying the planet, so violent resistance is warranted to defeat it, not passive civil disobedience.

If he read like that to the audience they probably had the same reaction. No wonder it failed, lol. But the audience would be polite and clap of course. No offense, but I don't think many people here got it, because they were either dozing off or on to the next video. The #1 rule of youtube is don't make it too long unless it's damn good, and it was just ok. 5 mins needs hills and valleys in excitement that this lacked. Strong tension and release that wasn't there. It just stayed even..

You forgot some things, though. The eco-rebels organized all the service personnel on the Death Star (food service, janitorial, shipping/loading, plumbing, etc.) & called it "DSSEIU."
Then taught all the unemployed civilians on the planets how to get on Imperial welfare to overwhelm the system.
Then they tried to organize all the Storm Troopers. They were successful only in the outer rim because they were so few & weren't getting rotated out regularly.

This is boring, and the humor isn't exactly spot-on, either. He basically kinda concluded that enviromentalist = anti-war, which wtf there are environmentalist extremists who blow up pipelines. Sorry, just not funny for me, cause 1) The humor is somewhat inaccurate and 2) A movie about Jesus preaching morals to people would be boring too, but that doesn't mean the morals are wrong. Same concept here: just cause enviromentalist actions might not be exciting doesn't mean they're wrong.
