  • You guys are awseommee!!!

  • where can i get your music?

  • I'm all for Catholic and Christian bands for teenagers as I myself am Catholic and 15 and it's hard to find good music these days. I listen to bands like Kutless and Skillet which are harder rock christian bands, but I don't know how I feel about "Catholic screamo". I absolutely hate screamo/heavy metal. Most of it is devil worship and it freaks me out, it creeps me out. So my question is, should this style of music be mixed with Catholic lyrics???

  • @Gymnasticspenguin96 I feel as long as the music itself is created from a place of the heart in line with God as opposed to being created through drugs/occult etc, it can be used to praise the Lord. Metal is not for everyone; I believe everyone has their specific genres that speak to the heart. There is a lot of devil worship in metal, every time I bump into it I feel another thorn in my heart. This may sound weird, but christian metal really connects me to God. I do recommend caution though.

  • @RuneScapeExaminer To me, the dark, angry feel of this sort of music just doesn't seem to fit with my image of God who is love, but If it connects you to God then that is good. It's just my opinion, but of course others think that other styles of music mixed with christian lyrics are bad as well.

  • @Gymnasticspenguin96 I agree that some aspects of metal (the dark angry feel; I know it is possible for metal to transcend beyond that but most metal is dark and angry or at least has to do with pain) doesn't fit with the image of God as love; I think how the music helps me find God is it makes sense of the disparity between the pain of this fallen world and the possibility that God (being all loving) can be so different from that experience. The songs that help me most are ones (out of lines)

  • @RuneScapeExaminer that deal with making sense out of pain and suffering and that make apparent its place in the grand plan of God's redemption of humanity. I think what confuses me is how God can be all good and we suffer; I understand it is from human free will and God will make all new; the music reaffirms that belief for me. I feel everyone has their favorite styles of music and I like how you are understanding of others who feel differently about music.

  • I am a Catholic and quite frankly don't understand 'Christian/Metal', to me it is a perversion and distortion of the love God wants us to express to eachother. Am I wrong?

  • @777ChiRho Yes. Some people simply do not like gospel or certain types of music. They want to listen to Catholic/ Christian music but don't like how it sounds. So that is why there are variations of Christian/ Catholic music. So it can reach everyone. So everyone can experience the love God wants us to express to each other and a mere interest in music can not stop that.

  • @XxRainefallXx Yeah but replicating the most evil kind of music out there isn't the right way to express our faith. The lyrics are awesome....if you read them, but the way they go about expressing those words is what is bothersome. It's proven that when heavy metal is played for lab rats they become aggressive and even kill eachother and plants wilt and grow in the opposite direction of the music. Keep in mind I'm speaking in general terms here, this band is not nearly as bad as some others.

  • @777ChiRho music is not evilunless the lyrics are

  • @hitchigo1 It's not so much that it's evil it's just that the 'music' creates yet another division among Christians, and it's because we are trying too hard to incorporate the world into religion. I can't imagine Christ from the cross expressing His love for us by SCREAMING into our faces can you? Try not listening to any metal for 1 month but listen to God in silent prayer and see what happens.

  • Mike grothem is now a sixth grade teacher at my school. im am going in his class next year,

  • Very good song...deep and meaningful lyrics.....I just wish there would be more catholic bands out there....in fact I'm trying to start my own....a metal/screamo one :)

  • good luck mate, Im trying to start something too...it would cover the 'punk' side as well as alternative flavor since we lack good music in those styles

  • yeah i get what you're saying...it would be tough to make it as a catholic band...especially if you use heavy distortion and scream...but i'll do it anyways

these guys are good...i think this is their only metal song though, the rest being more alternative

  • agreed, other songs seem more alternative...and yes having a Catholic would be hard. finding out where that barrier is at is the first step...barrier from being Catholic (band) vs just another band
