  • whats the spray thing you put on befor you draw? plz reply, and where do u buy it

  • @MP36BRAVO It's a duster can from the office supply store. :^)

  • Wow. You use a LOT of paper.

  • @Nooblet68 That's true. But not THAT much, really. A few hundred sheets a year, maybe? :^)

  • its awesome you can write in different directions :D

  • @JFfpaintzAndDrawings Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying that. :^)

  • Nice talent.

  • @tehch11k Very, very, VERY belated thanks, tehch11k! :^)

  • Wow. very nice! Looks really 3D!

  • Thank you very much, ibtroops. I'm glad you like it. :^)

  • oh thanks lol

    ps u reply quickly! 0.o

  • thats wat i do i just make arandom scribble and turn it into something cool

  • That's excellent, adasdadinator. :^)

  • yo u have mad talent at writing then!!!! how long did it take to master that?

  • It's surprisingly easy. It's really just a matter of concentration. Of course, I've been lettering right-side-up and forward-to-back for 25 years, so that helps.

  • do u write upside down in the beggining

if u do how do u do it perfectly

  • I do write the openings upside down, keithlfig. And in reverse. Glad you like it. :^)

  • i really do

  • Ha! Thank you very much, keithlfig. The Monsters and I love you, too. :^)

  • i love u

  • HI. Im a big fan of yours. I was wondering exactly how much do you spend on pens and stuff to do your drawings.

  • Thank you, Libzeeen. I'm glad you like the Monsters. THe pens are less than $3 each, and the paper is super-cheap. I don't know, I've never kept track, but I'm thinking maybe two or three hundred dollars a year?

  • hey stefan luv teh monsters jus wondering how u did the end i mean what program is it flash some thing else or do u just make raely graet stop motion (the latter would rival mamshman lol)

  • Hello adasdadinator. I use this dinky little software called Anime Studio 5. It's a little like Flash, a little like AfterEffects -- the latter of which I'm hoping to switch to shortly, because it offers a lot more control. But Anime Studio, while buggy, has done right by me over the years. And if all this were actually stop motion... I don't think I could hold down a job on the side of all this. :^D

  • naww, that was so cute! you're so talented..

  • Oh, you're very sweet. Thank you, mujwoo. :^)

  • truly awesome

  • Thank you very much, Superhippy08. :^)

  • these are amazing!! how long does it actually take you to draw a monster?

  • Hello again, imoldgreg14. The drawings themselves take from about 10 minutes for the early ones to 25-30 minutes later on. I just posted one today that took 50 minutes, because I knew it would be reproduced at a large size. It's really the animation that takes time. That can easily take 10 hours or more.

  • damnn!!! 5 stars! ur so freaking good at this

  • Thank you so much, Bloody0celot. I'm glad you're enjoying the monsters. I really appreciate the compliment.

  • What type of things do you use to create these things paper? markers etc.. please message me?

  • Hi there, arippedbag. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper.

  • Awesome, outstanding, great and much more to describe your work... BIG UP, Keep up the impressive work.

  • Thank you so much, oziitricker. I'm really glad you're digging the monsters! :^)

  • WOW ..!! awesome .. XD

  • Thank you, pro2008dragon. I'm glad you like the monsters. (Incidentally, I'm sure you get this question all the time, but are you a professional dragon? Or do you just vote for dragons? :^)

  • These monsters are really fasinating. :] I especially love the animation.

  • Thank you very much, blackxrosex. I'm glad you're enjoying the monsters. They're fun to do. :^)

  • Thank you very much, solly33! I'm glad you like the monsters!

  • StefaGBucher is made entirely out of win. Epic, epic win. =D

  • Thank you, WeeklyRabble. That's very kind of you, but I'm at least 15% goo with a dash of GAH!

  • I like weekly things too. :D

    Oh, and horray for goo.

  • your drawings are so kool

  • Thank you, xosports. I'm glad you like 'em! :^)

  • I haven't seen your drawings in months!..In fact more than a year and I was at this one place and it just reminded me of your drawings so then I was like,"What's his drawings called" ...I knew it was something.Monster..so then I typed in Monster drawing and found you! YES!!! NOw, I should go and look at the other drawings I haven't seen in months...YES..I love them.

  • Welcome back, TheKapprys. I'm glad you found the monsters again. :^) You've got a LOT of new monsters waiting for you!

  • how do you make the drawing move like that??

  • I use Anime Studio 5. And lots of time. :^)

  • Is it just the speed? Can't we just use Windows Movie Maker?

  • For the time lapse, I'm sure you can. That part I do in QuickTime Pro. I thought the question was about the animation at the end.

  • hey friend, nice drawing may i ask what kind of pens do you use ?.

  • Glad you like'em, Fasmo182. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper.

  • Yeah. I like them too. Where can I purchase them?

  • The pens or the monsters? The pens are not esoteric. Any art store will have them, or you can order them online. The monsters you can order on Amazon in book form, or as original drawings from store344 - com.

  • how do u draw upside down

  • Carefully. :^D Seriously, it's just a matter of concentration and practice. But mostly concentration.

  • nice work!

  • Thanks, zlliddude. :^)

Such mal nach "Dick Blick."

Dank Dir, derknurrkater!

  • Oha das arme Kleine Monster :(

  • Aber es hat doch ein Happy End. :^)

--- Stefan

  • Merry Christmas, and I wonder how do you draw Santa?:) I would enjoy a video of it. Great monsters, I subscribed.

  • ByPrometheus!!! (Hard not to exclaim it, you know. :^) There are, in fact, two Santa Monsters in the mix: Search for Numbers 36 and 37.

  • Nice santas! Especially the one with 4 eyes o.O ( 37 ). Happy New Year !

  • Seriously, every time I watch one of these videos, I find myself reaching for the Subscribe button but find (to my disappointment) that I have already subscribed. Excellent.

  • amazing!!!

i like it when ur pen moves fast! lol, duno why!

  • I like that part, too, zlliddude. Time lapse is fun! I'm glad you're enjoying the monsters!

  • Hey dude, can i ask what program is used to make the animation.

  • Sure, elgranto7. I use a $50 animation program called "Anime Studio 5."

  • wow, you do a good job of it!

  • Great drawing, great animation, in fact, great everything including your gracious replys to peoples comments, you could go a long way.

  • Well, how can I not say a big THANK YOU to that, megasuggs? Fingers crossed! And HAPPY HOLIDAYs, too!

  • Pfft! How did i not see this before, its amazing. You've got some real talent there. By the way, do you plan out the drawing before hand or just make it up as you go along?

  • Hi there, Th3d3ad99. Thank you for the kind words. There's no advance planning at all. It''s strictly in the moment, trying to put down what I see in the ink blot. Whenever I try to make a specific kind of monster, it never works. It has to come out spontaneously.

  • LOLAGE!!!

  • Wow! Thanks!

  • ilike it thanks

  • the story is: @!$%#@%$#@^&%$**$@$#^@%$^!&^

  • Wow! A story for an alien creature, written in an alien alphabet. I like it! Thanks, DogyKane.

  • amazing drawing

  • I love your monsters and style of drawing them.I found out about your website on an irish tv station.

  • Ww! Really? THe monsters were on Irish TV? How cool is that? Do you remember the name of the station?

  • RTE 2 is the name. It should be on RTE's website^^

  • Cool! Thank you, seanith. I will check it out! --- Oh yes! There it is! How cool!

  • WOW!

Very likely the best art i have ever seen.

    KeC

  • OMFG stephen m8 ur drawings are class. i have 1 question what kind of pens do you use because i am quite keen in drawing but i dont know what kind of pens u use PLEASE COMMENT BACK

  • Hey there, SpOoFMan123. Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper. Hope that helps!

  • I really dig ur style, kudos for writing upside down.

and erhm how do do the wings??? ink and something?

  • It's ink and blown air for the wings. I'm glad you like the monsters and the writing. :^)

  • wait what? you blow the ink?? with what? :P

  • AIr through a straw. :^)

  • cool, thnx ^^

  • lol nice skilss

  • these videos you have made are brilliant really good!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow!! StefanG you are one seriously spaced surrealist, monstrously talented. Very well done, I'll be looking closely at all your work soon. This is going straight to my favourites.

  • WOW!!!!! so glad I discovered this hidden graphic treasure. StefanG, your are seriously spaced. I love your trippy imagination and the minimal use of black ink and shadow puppetesque screening. MONSTROUSLY good work.

  • Wow! Thank you for the lovely comment UFOIST. I greatly appreciate it. I hope I'll keep you entertained in the weeks to come.

  • excellent =D

  • at least I don't have a potty mouth.

  • sorry :( i guess i got a little too over board :P

  • Thats awsome!

i love the way it flys away!

how long does it take you to draw and edit it?

    :)

  • Hiya socks747. The drawings themselves take between 5 and 20 minutes. The basic time lapse business (including adding the opening credit etc.) takes about an hour. The animation at the end, in this case, took about 9 hours. Of that, about 3 hours go towards rendering.

  • Wow cool!

    do you not get bored

and do u get anything out of it?

i think they are so cool!

how do u write so well upside down and backwards or did u just edit it!?

do u use photo shop to edit it?

sorry for asking so many questions its just your videos are class!

im going to look at your website right now!

  • Oh, I definitely get something out of it. Drawing the monsters is the most fun I've ever had drawing --- and I've drawn A LOT. :^)

Writing upside down and in rev. is easy as long as you stay focussed. Once you work out the N, S, and the 4 (which still trips me up) it's a breeze.

I use Photoshop to create the backgrounds, Anime Studio 5 for the animation, and After Effects for the sequencing and final render.

Thank you again for your kind words. I'm glad you're having fun with the monsters!

  • I love this, it's a great idea. It reminds me of Rolf's Cartoon Club.

  • What kind of creature is that in your dirty little imagination?

  • Little?! I will have you know that I have a dirty BIG imagination! :^D

  • Very cool stefan

  • Very cool indeed!!! Actually it's all been said here. I just love that the monster flies out of the paper into life!!!

  • Very nice! Wonderfully artistic and inspiring!

    nice work

  • Sorry you don't like the animation, Snaffer01. I'm glad you're enjoying the monster up to that point. Thanks for watching.

  • yeah, I like the monsters, and how you draw upside down. The animation is well done, but ist boring :) but still a good idea

  • OK. You're on: What do you think a good animation for this would have been?

  • Hello Dan. The Monster By Mail stuff is really fun. I hadn't seen that before. As for my creatures, well... I was shooting for "simple"" rather than "simplistic" --- ouch --- but thank you for taking the time to visit and post a comment.

  • thank YOU for the mature reply rather than the string of offensive homophobic words i usualy get for expressing my opinion! XD
