  • Nice video...you are very entertaining,

your cat in the back is very cute.

5 big Stars for you and some chicken for the cat. :-)

  • #1 Cat = kewl

#2 don't stop anything, would miss any part of what it is you do on here

#3 would be kinda kewl to have a show on tv where they just play random Youtube vids, but they would have to screen em first or they may end up showing stuff that gets them into truoble

  • hi curt, i was "away" for 3 mo.s & i guess i missed a lot. I hope that you cont to vlog here, a sentiment that has undoubtably been stated over & over. For what it's worth I continue to enjoy your vids...i enjoy your view, your thoughts, impressions, ideas and experiences. I love the humor, but I am sincerely interested in all of what you CHOOSE to share. You create vlogs that are both thought provoking & a promote a comfortable "space" to discuss issues. and yea, you make me laugh too

    ~La

  • I still want to do a response to do.. I really do.. maybe nest weekend.. I need to remember to do this.

  • I think the longest gap between a video's upload and my video reply to it was roughly 5 months. So you won't be graded on punctuality around here, that's for dang sure.

    :-)

  • i am l33t :D

  • You got it now? well, congrats. I "got" it some years ago. And guess what, vloggerheards will be the same thing, and the next thing after that and so on. Everything begins "small", get's bigger, more commercial, the next small thing gets "invented", that's getting bigger, and so on. So what?

  • Seeing as how you're not there to see it firsthand, I can't take you seriously.

Thanks for offering nothing but negativity. That says more about you than it does the subject you're referring to.

  • Abner's like "Dad...sit there and talk all you want but let me sleep"...hehehe Yeah, I've heard that YouTube was a lot different in the early stages. Funny because Dan and I were watching old Friends clips the other day...there's so much to find here.

  • From the beginning, YouTube was about entertainment. Then, the vloggers were born, and then the "vloggerhood." I don't think that will change. There will always be the entertainment factor, even if it does become a tv network. It seems to me that the community is here to stay. IMHO, anyway. I do hope you keep vlogging, but more importantly, I hope you keep doing whatever gives you the most joy.

  • Curt is hot and so is the cat

  • Congrats for being on TV ;-)

I think its not bad. The two types of media will come together somehow. I dont think that they wil simply 'melt'. They influence each other and develop in a new direction. Perhaps in a direction that we do not even imagine now. TV becomes more and more interactive, and that's good i think - though I don't watch it.

It's like everywhere else: the good things will be hard to find what doesnt mean that they aren't there.

  • I don't plan on changing what I do very much. I don't feel much pressure. If people are entertained, that's fine. If my videos don't amuse them, that's fine too. I still do this for me. Some of my ideas resonate with the public and others are a flop. I may be starting to lean in a more documentary direction, but that's mostly because my film making is always evolving...

  • Well that's interesting. I don't see this is as something bad though. It's been a struggle for YouTube to get rid of all the copyrighted material on here, so if YT does become a strong force over television, it will be people watching our videos. YouTube would only get into even more trouble if people were using it to watch the tv clips.

  • Now why is it when we talk to babies and animals that we love we talk like an idiot with no language skills lol. Loved the booboo! Will miss you if you do not blog as much but hey, you have to do whats right for you and do what you want. Hope to stil see you around from time to time. And with Rufus.

  • The trend of the past ten years has been merging the home computer with the television. In a few years, they will be a single appliance. It makes sense that YouTube goes in that direction.

Vloggers will vlog, skit writers will skit, cooks will cook and so on. It's all good. Change, in general, is both natural and healthy. I mean, what if mother nature didn't allow for change? The earth would be a desolate hunk of rock.

  • I dunno if YT wants to be tv but tv certainly wnats to take a bit out of YT. We're all watching YT as tv really sucks these days.

Abner had the "get the eff off me, hoomin" look on his face. ;p

  • Of course! YouTube will always be for the "channel flippers." I think it will capture an audience of people like you said about your friend who want to see clips of old shows, and other short works, commentary, or just unusual video clips. All the networks that are running full episodes for free are using some sort of crappy streaming system with worse problems than YouTube. I almost wish YouTube would get their contracts, I could then cancel cable for the few shows I do watch. Thanks.

  • And what a shame that would be, I find your vlogs to be the best on youtube *cleans up the tomatoes other youtube users threw at her for saying that* I am glad you're moving up, I would just hate to come to your channel one day and not see your vlogs :-S

    Hugs, Karla.

P.S. I love your new banner but I miss the stinky one XD

  • I agree with the Mrs. I am not fond of watching many vloggers here. Not even myself on my other channel. You, though are definitely enjoyable to watch. You are one of the few that I can sit through and watch beginning to end. If people stop doing what they do, that would only strengthen what everybody is afraid YouTube will become. If we don't want that, we have to keep doing what we are doing. Many people said in these comments and I agree... we are YouTube.

  • vlogerhoodious cool...and I love the cat :)

  • Heathen? I'm a High Priestess.

  • YT is already on the altar of making itself into a TV channel. I've seen many TV programmes devoted to showing YT videos, so there's no doubt it's on it's way.

  • So serious today. I'm not use to seeing this side of you. I'm so use to seeing that great smile of yours:)

  • Well I had no idea about tivo posting yt video's. Gonna have to check my settings on mine. hmmmmmmm You better not stop posting yt vlogs cause I enjoy them. Oh and THAT'S A HUGE CAT! So sweet all layed out there on the bed.

    Brandie

  • I understand where you're coming from. In my opinion, I don't think that having YT on TiVo (television) is going to take root. I feel that there would be a backlash from the YT community that it could destroy YT. Everyone needs to remember that WE are YT. Without us, they have nothing. AND, I know of at least one (1) site that is trying to compete with YT. If this TiVo thing happens, there may be another door waiting to open for the YT family. My opinion.

  • I agree with what you say about other options opening up for us. But I think I've come to see things differently in terms of what they (YT/Google) has without us. I'm about to upload another one of these raw vlogs where I say this (so this spares you having to sit through it), but if anything the growth of OUR community heartens me and I KNOW there will be other options open to us when/if YT winds up being 110% commercial stuff.

    Thanks for chiming in.

    :-D

  • Hi guys. it's weird to see my name over here on Curt's channel... Am I on Tivo? Scare Tactics? This MUST all be a practical joke.

And Shel, Sean? Full of himself? Sacrilege! ;‹D

  • I guess I'm sorta reiterating what many others have said:

    1) Don't stop talking to us

    and

    2) What does it matter if people are watching you on the internet or on a tv channel?

Still a bit confused (but far less alarmed after reading many of your comments),

    Elaina

  • Wow--I sure didn't know that YT vids could be viewed on TIVO. That's just downright disconcerting. Hugs,~Moonchime

  • If that's the direction that YouTube is heading (trying to be a television network) I don't think I like it. I mean, I enjoy the entertainment aspects of YouTube but I think if it went to TV there would be too many people trying to be professional, and the community aspect and the fun would be gone then.

    Hope this all made sense.

    Dianne

  • It's what we make it - and we can make it into whatever we want. Interactive tv is really this - what we're doing. it's here, we can make it what we wish. There is inherent value in people talking to other people, no matter what tools are used.

  • Haven't you always wanted to be a tv star anyway? ;)

  • Very philosophical. Infact, maybe a little *too* philosophical... lol

  • Me thinks you're right.

AND you helped inspire the vlog that I just recorded and uploaded.

    *THANKS*

  • I am nothing if not inspirational.. lmao.

Oh, I just woke up. It feels soooo early.

  • When will someone (who's got the time and resources) offer up a REAL vloggerhood alternative apart form YouTube, I wonder?

In the early months of LiveVideo, we thought, maybe....but no. It all winds up pandering to the lowest common denominator and everyone else be damned. I have an interest in other human beings and their thoughts, their ideas, their lives. There's no going back to TV for me, ever.

  • Same here. "Regular" TV can kiss my butt.

Even if YT goes full throttle in a way that leaves us in the cold, there will always be a place on the web for us to do our thing.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your comment here, Syd.

  • wait PAUSE! TiVo is doing Youtube?! My parents have that and that is the first I've heard of it.

Second. You act exactly like I do with my cats, and they always look at me like they want to smack the crap out of me afterwards.

  • i really can't figure out what this youtube will be or what it will offer to people like me. if they plan to become a tv station, certainly what they promote will be under a magnifying glass - selecting only a handful of representatives. i am gonna enjoy having my little online refuge for as long as i can milk it.

great to hear you think curt. cheers. :)

  • Must be nice to have a good cat.

Interesting thought, we had no idea YT was on Tivo. HMMMMM

  • We're definitely a form of entertainment, and we DO compete against TV for people's time AND someone is making money off it, but you know what? I don't care. The fact that it's fun, and cathartic and the people (I guess your fellow actors if you want to take that approach) are some of the most wonderful people I've ever come across make it so worth it for me.

I'll get more from YouTube than it'll ever get from me.

  • Funnily enough I had an idea about a year ago to make a magazine type programme or visual comic (nudge nudge) using YT characters and amaeteur formats and try to sell it to the TV stations to sidetrack the viewers they ar elosing who prefer watching things which are no longer than 10 minutes. Noticed how I rarely if ever refer directly to YT in my vids! Am still trying to organize lunch with one of my TV producer clients to get it off the ground [stares at empty diary and wonders why]

  • :) I never watch any thing I don't want to :)

Youtube on Tevo LOL I think your Right :)

Vloging will never Die for me :)

Hi Abner he's cute :) LOL

    Peace

  • Vlogging won't die, or at least I don't believe that it will. We just may find ourselves having to look at our circumstance here in this "YouTube" forum a little differently.

And I probably shouldn't record late at night when the lighting's bad and I'm in a sedate mood. LOL

  • I know :) I guess its a dieing Bread cause every one is trying to become famous. :) LOL

    You looked fine :)

  • I think your observation is spot on my friend. I have been saying for a while now that YouTube is not what it used to be. It is a whole new world.

In just the short amount of time in the real world, the time online was 20X as quick. An entire generation of users changed in just 2 years.

They say that vlogging is a thing of the past, but I disagree. I think vlogging never was a thing at all.

There were those that used the medium like that but it was never a standard.

    Mayhap a vid response...

  • Change is inevitable, right Dan? We've seen so many changes just in the time I've been here, which adds up to about 6 months fewer than you - and even in those months between you joining and me signing up there were tons of overhauls.

It's tough to keep up with it sometimes AND when people we meet along the way drop off the radar, it adds another layer of... I dunno what. When we hear folks like renetto talk of an atrophying community, I sense he misses the "old" YouTube and some of those peeps.

  • I'm kind of a newcomer to the video posting thing, I've only been posting since September of last year, but in the short time I've been a part of the community, I've noticed a lot of changes, and they all seem to be headed towards the complete commercialization of the site. I definitely think that in an undeterminable amount of time, there won't be a place for people like us anymore. No place for the real people who want to interact with other real people. YouTube is doomed! DOOOOOOOMMMEDDD!!!!!

  • Google might actually be wise to completely commercialize this place if they're looking to finally turn a profit - or even keep it afloat after investing so much cash into it.

As for people like us, I believe there will be places designed to keep this spirit alive. I just no longer think it will be YouTube.

  • WOW!! THAT is an interesting concept - YouTubeTV!! Hmmmm? I guess it's not that much different than what it really is anyway. Just might have more structure or something - so it flows like a TV program. Quite interesting. I guess we'll see. And I suppose if and when it happens, a lot of people will be forced out for lack of their ability to handle the millions here now. I wonder. Interesting video, thought provoking. Ah well. Time will tell I suppose.

  • Comments got away from me here and I was purposely intending to keep up more than is becoming typical for me (another frustration).

TonyDi, you're one of my favorite vloggers and I respect you.

Yep, that's pretty much all I had to say here.

  • I can just hear abner thinking "you woke me up for THAT?????"

  • Abner loves to voice his opinions to me. A LOT!

  • Im not so sure this was ever a grass roots vlogging site. Vlogging certainly was and still is a biproduct of a much bigger picture.

  • I think you're right. Like I was saying in a reply to someone else here, it's like vlogging is a type of early 'spin-off' of YouTube that just hasn't found its own special home yet.

  • Craigslist? Wow. I haven't seen it recently to know but I wonder if the same is true for Ebay.

It's been about 10 years since I used that site regularly.

(Wow, time flies... feeling scared and wondering where that Vicodin is!!)

  • Felix is making me write--> Why worry about youtube when you have that big pussy on your bed to entertain you?

I swear I would never type a comment like that of my own free will!

  • Sure, Arthur.

    Suuuure!

    ;-)~

  • im liking the raw unedited vlog.

your cat is like leave me alone and stop talking, im trying to fucking sleep! :P

    love ya ((hugs))

  • I like it too - and based on what I'm reading here, there seems to be an actual demand for that type of thing. Who knew!

    :-)

  • I wish you did more of this on youtube. I feel like even though we don't talk and I only really talked to you when my mom forgets her phone and I pick it up for her... this kinda makes me know you a little more. =) that prolly doesn't make the slightest bit of sense but I guess it works out in my head.

    I love your vlogs. Don't stop'em ever.

  • Nah, I get what you mean. It's kinda the same way at this end because of how much your mom talks about you.

I will forever envy the kind of relationship that mothers and daughters like you have with one another. I fear I'd have to be a mother or daughter to even half-way comprehend.

  • Stop stalking me on TIVO!

What drugs is that cat on??? I want some!!!

    BTW great editing :)

  • Get on the road already, you degenerate!

    8-P

  • Well, I tell you what, I LOVE "The Curt Show!"

Nice to see Abner. I hope you vlog much more. It's always nice to see you, whatver you're doing.

  • Thanks, PB!

Abner's agent has been bugging me about not using him and the others as much lately.

    ;-)

  • Love ya Boy!

  • (((Cory)))

  • A little bit of this, a little bit of that. You can do variety. That's what's so great about YouTube vs TV (one of). Abner's so cute.

  • wow, ur back from that world wind tour of your yard!

    HI!:)

  • HAHAHA! Yes. I'm a little jet lagged and sore from all the jigging. :)

  • Variety is the spice of life's rack.

    ...is THAT the saying?

Or maybe it goes like: Variety has a killer rack.

    Nah, that sounds wrong too.

    Oh look something shiny...

    8-)

  • It is allll about the rack. I have to use "filler" spices in my rack.

Oh look, something with carbohydrates and chocolate...

    :)

  • Change is always inevitable...though most times I admit I hate it. Doesn't really sound like a bad thing. I had no idea you can watch YouTube on the small screen.

  • I saw a bumper sticker a while back that read "Fear Change" - and I was half tempted to try to find one for my own car.

Probably best I didn't officially adopt that as a mantra.

Tony, I am getting more and more curious to know what the people you work with think of YT and where this is all going.

  • Yeah .. you can watch them on Tivo... onetruemedia gives that option to post videos on tivo as well. Does that mean that if you select "no" to the options when uploading the videos will still be on tivo?

  • Good question, Martha. I have absolutely no idea. The logical assumption to me would be that Tivo couldn't access it, but that may only apply to TV shows having the option to show clips in THEIR productions.

  • wow, didn't know that. of course then again, I don't have tivo. I like being content in my little corner watching the folks that mean alot to me. It somehow wouldn't feel the same watching it on tv. it feels more up close and personal on the pc.

  • That's exactly how I felt about it after clicking on a few things. Watching Diana's cooking video in that way made perfect sense, but watching a vlog of mine felt really odd. I was almost relieved when Al started doing searches for Carol Burnett and Bernadette Peters.

  • I hope you find equal time for both channels! Both are always so creative! YouTube wanting to be a network doesn'r surprize me at all! But hey, look at the bright side. You won't have any trouble landing a sitcom! :D

    I know that'd be a hit!

Can't wait to see you all here in Nasville for SouthTube in Oct.

  • You're going? Ah, cool! Yeah, I'm looking forward to it too.

And thanks for the compliments. It's a fun little project that seems to keep some folks giggling from time to time, and that just helps fuel the fire over there.

  • Yep, this reminds me of my Bob Dylan days..."The Times They Are A Changin'."

    (((Hugs)))

    ~Mimi

  • (((Mimi)))

Yep, Dylan knew very well what we all often forget.

    :-)

  • I would seriously miss your vlogging!! Abner is adorable! Thanks, Grams

  • Thanks, Grams!

I would miss vlogging if I stopped doing it too.

If anything, what I need to do is stop thinking that I need to throw in a bunch of fancy editing just to make something digestible.

  • I once said youtube is a big wastepaper basket for words (yea I was having one of those moments when reality was not conforming to my hallucinations about what youtube should be), maybe it is and that's ok.

  • Intriguing and slightly dark comparison.

    I like it.

I think there's truth to it.

  • Why is it that i can't get the song "there's a place for us, somewhere a place for us" out of my head?

Anyway, it's good to know that you'll still be here. I think a lot of us have done a bit of soul searching over the past week :)

  • Too funny, Andy. Yeah, that song would seem to apply, wouldn't it?

    Here's to continued soul searching!

    :-)

  • Isn't youtube really just tv for the short attention spanned.Sometimes you can spend just as much time on here as you do trying to find something on tv.

  • Yes, I think it is. Even in the very beginning when I was surfing around and before I found the network of vloggers I now know, I could feel my attention span weakening.

  • YouTube is EVERYTHING, Curt! That is what is so wonderful about this site. You can vlog, you can upload TV clips (maybe not officially), you can make entertainment videos, etc.

I had another vlog of my own that I was going to make today, but as often happens someone (this time, you) makes a video that I just have to respomd to. My other vlog isn't time-sensitive, anyway. So, look for my response today. Yayy!!

    -- Matt

  • It's everything and the kitchen sink, Matt.

(just do a tag search for "kitchen sink" if you doubt this).

    ;-)

Thanks for your video response. I'm glad you chimed in on this one.

    YAY!!

  • Vloggers....they're a dying breed. *sigh*

  • It seems like that at times, doesn't it? That may be just because the comparison in size between the groups. My prediction is that vlogging will just find a new and more appropriate home. Time will tell.

  • U finally get what? LOL!

That's one BIG ASS cat! Abner rules! :o)

  • Abner is the oldest so he DOES think he rules.

The other cats may or may not feel the same way.

  • i certainly hope they don't want to go to ALL entertainment ALL the time. I have no desire to be an entertainer. Or on TV for that matter. I like my small group of subscribers/friends :-) I won't appeal to the masses, and I don't want to try.

  • I guess that's the quandary a lot of people here find themselves in - "if what I'm doing isn't main stream or going to find an audience, then should I bother?"

It's a lot of unnecessary pressure for us to be placing on ourselves, really.

  • i feel like singing Queen & David Bowie. :-) (but not the vanilla ice rip off)

  • I think you're right. I also think it shows a distinct lack of imagination on the part of the powers that be at YouTube.

  • I agree. And I still think you nailed that when you talked about having perspective on our place on YT, as well as YT's place on the globe itself.

It's so easy to lose perspective on this site.

  • Youtube on Tivo?! I really haven't thought about that Curt, you might be on to something!

  • Well if they plan to make anything of it, they have a lot of bugs to work out. Maneuvering about was arduous (keypad on remote gave Al sore thumbs), and the picture quality was crap.

But it has potential written all over it.

  • I was thinking the same thing. YT pulls all of our 'copyright' stuff, but I think it's more of a matter of their personal benefit. If we allow embedding on our videos, YT can do what it wants to do with it.. Even if it means making more money off of us from TV...

  • Exactly. And not just Google, but other web sites as well - they embed our vids and then place Google ads on those pages.

    Google is the pimp.

    We're just the crack whores.

Oooh, that seems like a very dark comparison when actually I meant it to be humorous. Yikes!

Oh well, I'm hitting "post comment" anyway, dammit!

  • Abner is adorable. Something weird about videos being on tivo... seems like the ordinary person's work will be lost to the attention seeking video makers.. *know what I mean?*

  • Oh hell yeah. It's already happened, I think.

Not to discount what she does entirely, but look at Hot4words. Educational snippets on the English language have tremendous value, but do we really need to question how many people click on that just for the boobage?

  • You sure got smart hanging out with Rufus!

All kidding aside, your most likely right; most sites on the internet that don't simply shrivel up and blow away, sooner or later evolve into something other than what they started out to be. They may turn into the Worlds largest News Broad Cast, if they aren't already, due to the millions of un-paid employee's who are happy to work for nothing more than to say; "That Is My Video"

  • LOL - Rufus is a good influence on me, no doubt about that.

    :-)

And spot-on analysis here. YT is a business and it needs to profit if it's going to survive.

  • I LOVE WATCHING YOU. :-)

    I totally agree.

However, the old YouTube, where it began was WAAAY better.

12 seconds will totally be the new thing.

I think YouTube should be an invite thing.

AND, PLEASE KEEP VLOGGING! YOU'RE AMAZING AT IT. :-)

  • THANK YOU!

I often feel like I still struggle with it, but it's nice that the nervousness I once had about the "public speaking" aspect of all this has dissipated.

The invitation only thing is something I like, at least for the most part. It can come off as elitist and it's far from perfect, but maybe it's just a logical compromise to combat the abuse of anonymity we see running rampant here.

  • I think you do a great job vlogging!

  • haha, no prob ;-)

    yay :-)

    yeah, that would be awesome.

and, something where if you dont like someone's video, dont comment it would be awesome

  • I do understand were you are coming from...but please don't ever stop vlogging. I need your wisdom :-)

  • Wisdom? That's a friendlier word than some have applied to this. LOL

    Thanks!

Nah, I'm not finished here. Not any time soon anyway. It's probably just a case of my not being in a 'tug of war' with this site like I had been (and didn't fully realize I had been).

  • wow I was not aware you could get youtube on tivo...I wonder how that impacts partners- will they get $ for views on there... hmmm

  • Good question - since the $ only flows in that direction if ads appear or get clicked on (I've never been completely sure and it hurts my eyes to try to look for that in the fine print), then the answer is probably no.

    But that's just a guess.

Thank you for bring that up.

  • Well that sucks- I'm not a partner but when it comes to money I wanna know :)

  • Not sure if I totally agree. Why a TV network where bigger audiences to view and revenue dollars to be had are right here on the internet. Now if you saw both, you may have something there. But TV is becoming sort of passé except maybe for on-demand. People are tired of surfing 500 channels to find there is nothing to watch. Can't remember when I watched a TV series. The last one was Rescue me and I watched it -- you guessed it -- on the internet.

  • Vlogging is what makes the 'entertainment' here unique. You can get the other forms of entertainment on so many other websites.

  • Amen to that surfing the channel business, Danny! It's one of the reasons I unplugged the cable box once and for all.

I forgot to add here, most of the videos Al clicked on for us to watch failed to make it to completion before he was looking for something new. It feels notable, but I'm still working out why that is.

This text comment is still under construction, me thinks.

  • renetto posed a similar theory a few months ago, but i didn't understand how it could be possible. since you can now tivo (which i had no idea!) freakin' yt, well, y'all have drawn the same conclusion. both television broadcasting and yt are changing, morphing into each other, i guess.

  • I kinda feel like I'm just now catching up with what renetto was talking about, actually, so I'm glad you brought this up.

In a way it's like the vloggerhood was some sort of spin-off of the main show that is YouTube. A spin-off that still exists within the main show, that is. At least for now.

  • YouTube is such a different place today than when I initially joined the site in April of 2006. The feeling is completely different. It had such a "home grown" feel to it before. It was fun and exciting and addictive! I don't have nearly the interest in YouTube as I did back then because the "feeling" of the place has changed so much.

You're TV network analogy is perfect. Hang in there Curt. Your friends here are glad you are around. -Russ

  • "Your" TV Networ analogy! Not "you're". Dang!

  • LOL - just now found this comment from you here. I didn't catch the misspelling, btw.

Russ, what if there was a place that was designed just FOR vloggers. Would that idea appeal to you?

    Just curious.

  • Of coure, I'd find it very appealing. I'm hoping Tom, Paul, Ken and who ever else are working on site concepts come up with a terrific place for us bloggers.

  • Just last year a vid I had on here got featured and was then in the promoted section. Now you absolutely NEVER see a little guy's vid in the promoted section. All sites get like this in the end though, I suppose.

  • This is why I check the box when uploading videos that prevents YT showing my videos on TV. I assume that includes Tivo. I don't mind Google making money off my videos by ad revenue or whatever HERE on the site, where I post it for my friends to see (after all, they're providing a service to me), but I'm not having them sell it on to third parties without me seeing a penny! I work really hard on my vids!

  • It probably does include Tivo, now that I think about it. And I feel protective about what I produce here as well. It bothered me to see that option appear because it seemed like YT/Google's way of taking responsibility away from the third parties who want to use what we upload here.

So many layers to this thing.

  • sheldonwh - elaina43 seems to love you! - I will be sure to check you out! (i know I've seen one of your videos and I liked it - you are tall, thin and blonde, right? - i can't remember which one) anyway - you make an interesting point - perhaps, word of mouth (thru vlogs and video favs) will be the lingua franca for smaller communities. more work, but was the feature of renetto really important (although watching his youtube crumbling ego is shakespearean - should it ever be that important?)

  • SHOW YOUR TITS!!! That's why I'm on here... to watch sexy moobs!

  • I'd give this comment a thumbs-up if I could.

And I'll show my moobs when Andrew shows his. Until then, suck it.

    8-)~

  • LMFAO

  • NO LIE: I was recently watching Carol Burnett Bloopers on YouTube, too - they are hilarious! HAHA. Now I forgive you for trashing Elaina43's house :-) btw, just because YouTube might choose to push/feature/etc things to make YouTube a network, that doesn't prevent all the friends posting videos for friends, all the guitar players, all the atheists, all the silliness

  • - if uploading and watching aren't affected, even without zero YouTube featuring, promotion, etc. of regular folks not seeking fame, the communities of people on YouTube will still thrive. Very nice blog 5 stars :-)

  • I seem to remember reading some articles about google being under pressure to make money from youtube in order to justify the expenses from it. I think it's going to be a delicate balancing act between revenue generation and keeping vloggers/viewers happy.

I mainly find new channels by 1)looking at who else comments on videos I watch, 2)occasionally going through the channels I'm subscribed to and seeing what those channels are subscribed to, and 3) shoutouts.

  • I really do enjoy "Ask Rufus" but would hate to see you cut down on your vlogging. As for YouTube becoming a TV Network, it's almost there. I can see it happening.

  • Thanks, Norman.

I still think back to how people felt toward LiveVideo and how it was looked to as something that would rescue people from the negative stuff that was here. That site proved not to be the answer, but I do believe there's still strong potential for a vlogger-centric site to not just exist, but thrive.

YouTube will still continue to be about having as much fun as possible, though.

  • glad youre here.....

  • Wow, thanks!

Blame Kenrrrg. He infected me with this disease almost two years ago with HIS vlogs.

  • as long as I can still upload pictures of my ass to youtube then im happy. :)

  • And a happy ass is a healthy ass.

I read that in a very questionable magazine once.

  • I also heard somewhere:

"And sad is the ass that can't sing...."

    *LOL!*

  • how questionable?

  • :O I great, then my students are sure to find me. ;)

  • Have they seen the videos you've done with them where it's just their hands as they're talking?

  • Only the older kids that have done them, those are my helper in the library. It's the other kids I am worried about, the loud obnoxious ones who say, "I saw what you posted on YouTube!" Been there, done that.

  • LOL!

  • I'm sure YouTube has aspirations to become like a TV network. I'd heard about the Tivo thing. In a way it doesn't matter though. I mean does it really matter if us regular YouTubians who post here become less of a percentage of the whole. So long as YouTube allows us to post here for free I think there will always be a community of sorts here. Albeit a community that never has a featured video, but that's really not so important either in spite of how much griping there might be about it.

  • And I'm going to have to ask my cats what you actually said with that "jee-jee boo-booo" remark to Abner. I've read most of the cat language translation books and havn't seen that one before, LOL.

  • Oh man, could you imagine if YT actually charged people to upload? Eegads! That would be it for me, I know that much. I'd continue to watch occasionally, but I'd be done otherwise.

And, yeah, having a video featured is mostly just a hassel, despite how appealing it may be from the sidelines.

As for the translation, Abner won't even tell me what it means. I am, however, ordered to say it as often as possible.

Basically, I just do as I'm told around here.

  • I think You Tube is just following it's natural evolution - as are the people using the site - nothing ever stays the same - thank goodness! it's the mix and variety that adds the spice - I don't think you should change anything you're doing unless you're not enjoying it. Do what pleases you - rememeber the "YOU" in YouTube. xxooxx

  • Amen to all of this. Yeah, it's been a non-stop evolution for me and everyone I know since I showed up here. There are moments when the entertainment stuff feels like the loudest guest at the party, of course, but that doesn't mean the other guests can't have a good time too. Although sometimes it takes a step out onto the back patio to get away from that guest.

It's 1am and suddenly I can only talk in metaphors. Eegads! Time for sleep.

    xoxo

  • LOL - If only I had any.

And, actually, if you ARE pursuing an acting career, this site is a wonderful outlet to help you explore your craft (so I've seen and so I've been told by others doing similar things).

  • And given the lawsuit "fun" they've been having, it's no wonder things have changed as much as they have. I remember a day when mostly vloggers would be on the main page. Now it's mostly corporate or entertainment based stuff. It's not completely invisible at this point, but it's darn close.

Then again, I'm also noticing more newcomers being lured in by that stuff and discovering this corner. So who knows.

  • I need to pull my head out of my ass AND my valid incoming emails out of the spam folder.

    *goes to look*

Got it and turns out it was in my regular inbox (this is how bad I'm getting at managing that stupid thing!). Sent a reply back.

  • I think you are right but I'm confused as to why you wouldn't vlog? I plan on vlogging more because of it. The community will die if we don't and I myself want to help keep the community alive as long as we can until we need a bloody license. l I need to get me a Tivo. Ps: I've had your flag video featured on my channel since you posted it cause it's an awesome vlog! = ) (((Curt)))

  • Wow, THANKS!

    (((Pipp)))

Right now I'm reassessing how I want to do the vlogging thing and under what conditions. But I totally agree with you that there needs to be more vlogging in general - or at least that there needs to be a healthier environment for it and more positive reinforcements for people who decide to dive into it.

  • I'm glad you're not leaving, but you SURE have become a 12 second whore lately! I hope you last longer IRL!!!

  • LMAO (for reals!)

Actually, I gave up 12seconds (and no worries about such running times elsewhere, knock on wood... possibly a pun there... okay, moving on!). The site was fun but it was messing with my attention span in a way I didn't like.

  • no doubt, for reals! You have so much pertinent info that 12 seconds could NEVER be enough! Love ya, man!

  • Thanks. It might be that I'm just too longwinded, though.

    ;-)

  • I wonder if that is why when u upload a vid u can check that box or uncheck it, that says if they can make the video available on TV? I hope you know what I am talking about lol. Always good to see you Curt.

  • Likewise, Tina. Always good to see you too.

And, yep, I know what you're talking about. As soon as I saw that option change a while back I thought, "Uh oh - what does THIS mean?"

I still don't know the answer with any complete certainty, but sitting there with that TiVo felt like a moment spent looking into the future.

  • interesting, I will have to check this out.. We have a TiVo box on a TV upstairs that we don't use anymore since cable now has the DVR. But it is all hooked up so I'm gonna check and see if it got the update and see what I can find...

  • It's a weird experience, lemme tell ya. Al and I sat on his sofa watching an old lip sync video Diana did and Al sat there singing along. When it was over, he pushed a bunch of buttons and we landed on one of her cooking videos.

It was like the PrincessDiana161 Variety Hour or something.
