  • relaxed hair WILL grow. To the people saying natural hair grows longer... that just isnt true. Relaxed hair is more prone to breakage so it DOES require extra care. However, if taken care of, relaxed hair and natural hair both grow. Natural hair is a healthier choice but natural hair is not for everyone. If you are relaxed be sure to take extra care of your hair because it is much more fragile than natural hair.

  • Thanks for the info!!!

  • what r you talkin bout

  • Great vid but I don't need a cosmetologist, I take care of my own hair thanks to modern day black hair forums the info is just out there. Maybe if most cosmetologists were as informative as you, I wouldn't have been searching for hair care forums, nonetheless I am glad I found them and all of what you said I learnt from them

  • I have natural hair now I've been relaxed every since I can remember in my opinion my relaxed hair was healthier and longer than my natural but I think it's because I'm struggling to take care of my natural hair so today I'm going back to relaxed it's just easier to maintain for me I'm soo excited it's been a year and I really miss it thanks for the vid

  • Natural hair doesn't grow faster or longer. I've been both, and my hair grew the same. It's all about how you take care of it, like the young lady in the video says. Your hair is actually MORE prone to breakage and damage in it's natural state, because your hair is curled and bent in all types of angles. "HAIR IS HAIR". Because I take care of my insides (eat right, drink plenty of water) my hair is healthy. But if you want to get all technical, hair is dead. and can't be "healthy". Bam.

  • natural hair grows as long as relaxed hair take off yah lace front and let me see your real hair, all hair grows at same rate but relaxed hair breaks your keratin bond and makes it much harder to retain length, natural hair is at it's natural state, chemical free nothing getting in the way of your growth

  • I'll answer the title of your video----YES!!!

  • Soooo TRUE!!!

  • I relaxed my hair for the first time I died my hair a well prior to relaxing. The same day it was relaxed my hair fell out please I need advice I dnt want to shave it of but it seems as if I have

  • Natural and relaxed hair does grow the some. I don't go to a stylist because I learned how to take care of my own hair and it grows better now than when I was going to a shop. The key things to aid hair growth is to ensure that hair is moisterized with moisterizer that penatratese into the hair shaft. and deep conditioner aid also. The problem with hair growth its not that it doesn't grow its how to retain the length that you've gain. This is were protective styles come into play.

  • thank you for this MUCH NEEDED VIDEO! As a licensed Cosmetologist I have spent years trying to teach this. CONSISTENT Hair Care, A balanced diet and exercise has ALWAYS been the key to GREAT HAIR! I have many clients with relaxed hair pass their shoulder. With all the recent hype about natural hair many people have been misled. I do relaxer touchup's in most cases every 10-12 weeks unless it is a short cut that is cut frequently. THANK YOU AGAIN for informative and educationally accurate post

  • I dont know which grows faster. It depends how you keep up your hair, but now that I am natural my hair grows twice as long than it did when it was relaxed.

  • I have had two instances in my life when my hair has fallen out. Both times i went to lisenced cosmotologists. When i stopped and began doing and treating my hair and washing and conditioning my self my hair stopped breaking and continued to grow again. well it never stopped growing it just broke off. what is the best conditioner i can use at home i mam scared to go back to a beauty salon. ps i am not a cosmotologist.. just a woman that likes healthy hair.

  • i'm so glad i found your videos u have made my day!!!!!

  • amen!!

  • I KNOW A COUPLE OF WOMEN WHO HAIR IS LONG AND HEALTHY AND THEY GET RELAXERS, I EVEN ASK THEM IF THEY WERE NATURAL. PERSONALLY MY HAIR WOULD NOT GROW BUT SO LONG WITH RELAXERS THEREFOREI END UP KEEPING A SHORT CUT GOING. I HAVE DECIDED TO SEE HOW LONG MY HAIR WOULD GROW I ITS NATURAL STATE..I FEEL THAT REGARDLESS RELAXED OR NOT ITS ALL ABOUT LEARNING TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR

  • Loved you on the real comments on taking care of my relaxed hair! I really love my hair being relaxed better than going natural for the simple fact that its more easy to manage my hair when its straighter

  • I have not relax my hair i 3 month what should i do with my hair.

  • Oh, again I forgot to say, I changed my eating habits too. I eat lots of vegetable, fruits, lots of water. NO sugar, white flour, dairy, or extreme SALT!! Read the labels of the product you eat, put on your body/skin or in your hair.

  • I wanted to say what product I now use, but I ran out of character time, sorry!! I use "virgin olive oil, 100% grapeseed oil, 100% shea butter, Serum hair treatment by Honeygirl Organics, and oh I forgot, I use "pure honey". My hair has never been more healthy or shiny. I find all these products at Whole Foods. PEACE

  • My hair is so much better since I stopped getting relaxers. When I was getting the relaxers, my hair was dry, brittle, and my scalp itched like crazy. Nothing they would do would stop the itching. When I got to the point where I was literally "digging" the back of my head from the itch, I had had enough. I ditched the perms, the shops, the whole shabang!! I had all my hair cut off, I now use all natural organic products, and anything with a long name I can't pronounce, I don't use.

  • lool my hair cant grow i guess i gotta start eating right ;)

  • I went to beauty school, what you are sayiny is the truth...love it.

  • A stylist about 2 years ago told me I had alopecia areata, but 4 months ago I decided to leave relaxers alone for a while and the area that was once thinned out started thickening up and I have since been greasing that area and the rest of my scalp with castor oil. I don't know if it was the fact that I stopped using certain chemicals or because of the castor oil. But now the thinned/balded area is now thick and the hair has become stronger.

  • @VousDesiree Congrats on that.

  • My hair grew faster when I went natural than it ever did relaxed. I never got my hair relaxed incorrectly or anything. It just is what it is. My hair is doing so much better and my scalp is thanking me as well, because it was so itchy and dry before. If you love perms, that's fine, but I think although it is possible, relaxed hair rarely grows as long as natural hair. Be you! Do you!

  • @musiq4dasoul82 : CO-SIGN!!! I'm 2 months in my transition of going natural.. I have so much NEW growth.. WOW! I just tired of my hair breaking off..

  • but relaxed hair falls out alot, and natural hair is really heathy(if you take good care of it) so i do think if you take good care of your natural hair it will grow longer and faster than relaxed hair.Even if you take care of your relaxed hair the relaxer that you keep geting over and over is just making your hair fall out over and over.

  • luv the video.....but i have a question. my daughter is 9 and i give her a Just For Me Perm and I can't seem to get her hair to grow.....what am i doing wrong or what should i do???? what do i need to use and how often..... she stay a lil sad because her hair wont grow....any advice

  • @kddcj7 Dont relax her hair anymore. The best advice anyone can give you! Relaxers arent for everyone. Look up coconut and castor oil for hairgrowth to regrow her natural hair out. She will thank you once she reaches high school and notice her hair is longer than most black girls.

  • I know the question wasn't directed towards me, but I think the BEST thing to do is to stop giving her perms. I used to get perms and I recently stopped and now my hair grows non-stop. My hair is about a quarter down my back (5 months ago it used to be at the end of my neck.)I know that may sound crazy seeing as hair isn't even supposed to be that long in 5 months, but it was Your daughters hair will SURELY grow (unless you have another problem). P.S You and her have to take good care of it! : )

  • true that sistah....also natural is ALSO prone to breakage, my natural hair kept breaking, it kept snapping off at the tight kinks,, it was hard to retain the length, i just didn't know how to care for it

with texturized hair, i was EASIER to care for and thus i was able to stop breakage and retain length

  • Thanks for this video and your right as long as the hair is cared for rather natural or relaxed, it will thrive. If it's not taken care of natural or relaxed, it will be in horrible condition.

  • I love this video. My hair makes alot more sense now. Im a 3b/3c and have been natural for about 2 years. When i get lazy...or broke lol..and take less time and put in less effort to my hair care, it breaks and looks and feels so damaged. But when i put time and effort in it looks great and has very noticible growth every other month. My sis has relaxed her hair for the past 8 yrs, she puts soooo much effort into hair care and her hair is half way down her back...so that goes to show

  • i just recently had breakage because i dyed my hair blonde using a box it and three weeks later relaxed it. i cant seem to figure out what i need to do to grow it out, and ill do ANYTHING!!!! my mom is going to put single braids in my hair because she says i need to give my hair a break from chemicals n stuff. maybe go natural? what do you recomend?

  • I love what you're putting out there!

  • But doesnt relaxed hair break easier?

  • my hair is relaxed and I take vitamins and eat lots of veges

  • ~ Loved this video, very informative!! :)

  • i like you!! :) thanks for the info, i will put it to use!

  • I completely 100% agree with you msmikko 100. thank you.

  • Hey lady, I first wanted to say that I love your videos! Im a cosmetology student mysefl and I learn a ton of things from your videos and also get some reinforcement to what Im already learning. Question, I saw on one of your videos that you do classes, but do you have DVD's available for people who are not in the area?

  • OK MsMikko. Advertise a number that works.

  • Advertise a number that works.

  • I have seen people with natural hair that cant even get it to the shoulders and having a hard time taking care of it and maintaining it as well. But look at some of the video's here on youtube i see numerous of people with very long relaxed hair, so i dont agree with you NaturallyMeTV that natural hair can grow longer, It's all in how you take care of your hair.

  • bottom line is....relaxers break the natural protein bonds in our hair... making the hair weaker, easier to break off at the ends....so you dont retain length as you would if the protein bonds were still there.... so YES .... NATURAL HAIR DOES GROW LONGER.... GOD DIDNT MAKE A MISTAKE...

  • @NaturallyMeTV NO SUCH thing as PROTEIN BONDS...first....but RELAXERS do break bonds...but something RESTORES them as well if done properly..and I have to disagree PROFESSIONALLY..I have plenty of CLIENTS that retain LENGTH with relaxers. To each is own but please get EDUCATED FIRST!!! Hair is KERATIN= PROTEIN!!!

  • @MSMIKKO100 WOW... Maybe you should go back to the books..hair is made of protein (keratin)... hydrogen and cystine bonds keep the hair structure together. Relaxers weaken and break these bonds in order to make the hair straight . This is a irreversable process and nothing can "restore" it.... so that leaves the hair weaker than its natural state....leaving it more prone to breakage, thinning, etc... so once again YES... Natural hair is healthier and therefore grows longer

  • @NaturallyMeTV i do not know or understand how ignorant you are but i know for a fact that what is being said is true and if you are in to the BOOKS YOU WOULD THIS, BUT THAT ALSO COMES WITH EXPERIENCE. AND IN YOUR CASE MATURITY! HAVE A GREAT DAY YOUNG LADY.

  • @NaturallyMeTV You should look at this guru called buildable beauty. she is relaxed and her hair is long and healthy. I have been relaxed and natural and my hair growth never changed. Its about hair care. Yes your hair s weaker when you relax it but that is no different then when you heat style it or dye it. it just needs extra care. natural hair breaks off too, natural hair thins out too, it just about haircare and genetics.and natural hair isnt healthier than relaxed hair if you dont of it.

  • @NaturallyMeTV And I hope that you didnt go natural thinking that your hair was going to healthy and long overnight. its not. being natural is a lot of work and JUST like with relaxed hair it needs a lot of care and it takes time to get it to the place where its healthy and you have a regimine.

  • @NaturallyMeTV WOW... i don't think anyone is saying that relaxed hair is as strong as natural. due to the nature of naturally curly hair (every bend is a possible break) it is more delicate than other hair types. it is a misnomer that natural hair is tough it has to be treated w/ care. yes chemically treated hair is more prone to damage. the key to taking care of both states is maintenance mois-protein balance & 4 chemically treated hair not abusing the chemicals.

  • @NaturallyMeTV growing longer and being able to retain more length is two different things.

  • @NaturallyMeTV but that also depends on the person and what you put in your hair, that's why people STRETCH their relaxers, they only perm their roots, the hair that's already relaxed probably wont be touched for YEARS. The whole point is to keep your hair healthy, a perm is not the only thing that can damage hair, you just have to know how to take care of it.

  • @NaturallyMeTV Uhmmm...usually I do not argue and KEEP POST up from people that are soo negative. So to you...and all my viewers WATCH this....

Uhmmm THERE ARE 19 of 22 AMINO ACIDS that join together and CREATE PROTEIN...in hair nails and skin we POSSESS KERATIN PROTEIN. The PROTEIN is then LINKED by BONDS. ONE bond starts with a P...ok baby girl now the other starts with a D, then the third starts with a S...ohhhh baby girl hold on are you still reading...the fourth starts with a H ...

  • @MSMIKKO100 then ohhhhhhh baby girl there is one out there that starts with a V...hahahahahahahaha..I love a challenge and I love LEARNING. NOW...that I said that let me explain my video...it SIMPLY says that BOTH can retain LENGTH; HOWEVER the CHEMICAL is a DRYING and DANGEROUS ONE...it must be cared for CAREFULLY if wanting to retain LENGTH and NUTRITON is UP, and GENES are a FACTOR. NOW like I said there is no such thing as PROTEIN BONDS. But yes baby HAIR is PROTEIN ultimately...

  • @MSMIKKO100 Therefore your scientific findings was simply read wrong...and the comment to go back to school..is a low blow considering I EAT THIS...I BREATHE THIS ..I AM THIS...baby girl, excuse me but please...really...everyone makes mistakes here n now n then I AM NOT PERFECT,but one thing I WILL NOT DO is MISLEAD, DISRESPECT, LIE, CHEAT and spread NEGATIVITY. Understand BOTH can RETAIN LENGTH..now which one is more healthy...it STILL ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR HEALTH and CARE.

  • @MSMIKKO100 Now...when hair is RELAXED of course it is in a danger ZONE. Because it has been stripped of its natural oils...and that BOND that starts with a D...hahahahahahhaa...a D...is broken and cannot be replaced. Now please SURFFFFFF the YOUTUBE and find someone else to try and SEE if they really are REAL...because honey I AM...I sooo AM.....ooooowwweeeee...one more that is so important you mind telling me what does the BOND that starts with a D CONTAIN that is sooo critical to HAIR?

  • @MSMIKKO100 #1 What I said was not opinion its pure fact... do some research #2 why do you think most relaxed women with long hair stretch the time in between relaxers for months (4-12 in many cases)..... its because exposing your hair to relaxers fosters breakage... so it would only make sense if you stopped relaxing all together you would see more grow and length retention....#3.. dont refer to me as "baby girl" its tacky and unnecessary

  • @NaturallyMeTV hahahahhahaha,,,baby girl, tacky is arguing with someone over nothing,,,LONGHAIRCAREFORUM,com...and when you get over 15 years of INFO and PRACTICE comment. This is not a wuestionof which is more healthy baby girl, its about LENGTH, Because believe me I support and TAKE care of BOTH. Now it ends here...uhmmm like I said there is no such thing as PROTEIN BONDS...hahahahaha thats all I CORRECTED you about...nothing else..can we all just get along???hehehehehe..its all good.

  • @MSMIKKO100 And one more thing...YOU ARE suppossed to wait AWHILE before relaxing in the first place...BUT sooo many UNPROFESSIONALS...REALAX too MUCH and get it STRAIGHT which makes it OVERPROCESSED then it DRIES, then it is BRITTLE, then it BREAKS. Sooo again we are SAYING the SAME thing..but you wanted someone to know very bad YOU READ...but you JUMP down on me with the WRONG words in PLACE; however again this video is about WHICH can grow LONG...and the FACT remains BOTH!!!

  • @MSMIKKO100 Not which one is MORE HEALTHY. Because I have clients with NATURAL HAIR and have some SERIOUS SCALP and HAIR CONDITIONS!!!!! But you wanted to TWIST my topic as if I were REPPING for RELAXERS...uhmmmm baby girl...I DO IT ALL. I do not discriminate...and I do not like NEGATIVE people...my job is REAL and I want to make sure we all LEARN the CORRECT WAY. No matter if someone is RELAXED or NATURAL. BOTTOM LINE both textures can RETAIN LENGTH~depending on HEALTH, CARE and GENES.

  • whats the best relaxers we can use as african americans. can u list a few so we can know which one to use. that are closer to our ph. i jus subsribed to your channel and l love it a lot. l have been learning a lot. keep up the good work. you are helping me and every black woman a lot.stay blessed you are truly a blessing.

  • In reality, the hair that grows is natural. Then it is relaxed. The real thing is that relaxed hair is more prone to breakage, hence failure to retain length.

  • @WithLoveDelor Sweetheart...if properly cared for, genes are there...nutrition up to par...RELAXERS can RETAIN LENGTH...TRUST and BELIEVE...I am a professional..and I really WITNESS this DAILY!!!! Again its all about NUTRITION, GENES, and PROFESSIONAL CARE when dealing with CHEMICALS!!!! Even being NATURAL with COLOR...you have stepped out of the NATURAL ZONE...you have CHEMICALS and are PRONE to DRYNESS, BRTITLENESS..and then BREAKAGE just like a RELAXED CLIENT!!!

  • @MSMIKKO100 Oh no, I totally agree with you. You misunderstood what I said, I had relaxed hair and it was very well taken care of and retained length. What I was saying is that the hair that grows out of your scalp is indeed natural, it does not grow out of your scalp relaxed. My comment was simply explaining that it's not wither your relaxed or natural, it's how you take care of your hair. Fact of the matter is, most women with relaxers don't seek professionals and hence the state of black hair

  • @WithLoveDelor OK...we are on the SAME PAGE..hehehehehehehe...thank you girl for your explanantion and total SUPPORT!!! Stay tuned and LEARN the correct way!!!

  • I had relaxed hair and it was on my bra strip I hated it every time I had new growth and got it permed I had to get inches cut off :( so I went back natural so I can have my long hair passed middle back I wish I never got a perm I rather press the hell out of my then damage my scalp and eyes:0

  • The route or the root?

  • I have a question! :) I just got an "at home" relaxer from Motions on virgin hair. My roots are straight and my ends are curly still and under processed. Do I wait until I have an inch of new growth before I re-relax my ends as well as my new growth too?

  • she is right

  • All of your videos are GREAT! Well done...thanks so much.

  • my hair grew about a inch and a half in 3 months

  • @KhAnDiiKiisS thats half an in a month...thats normal

  • I usually sew in a weave for about 2-3months, take it out and get a touch up, get a trim and leave it out for about a week before I put in another weave. Is this bad?

  • THANK YOU! Im going natural and people automatically thought i went natural because i wanted longer hair. THAT IS NOT TRUE! I sincerely appreciate this video!

  • I use text lax same result less harsh chemical....and i can still where my hair curly when i want to. My texture without the text lax is 4c by the way. I just cant manage it and dont get me started on the shrinkage!

  • I am so glad that I ask questions!! My stylist is all about hair care! I do relax my own hair while I'm away from home and wash/condition my hair weekly. I try to trim my own ends, but sometimes I have to break down and let a professional get my ends for me. I like the empowerment of doing my own hair and having healthy hair, but I still go to my cosmetologist.

  • ok see i went natural about 2years ago thinking that it would help my hair grow faster. it grew a little now it stopped. so i have a question since hair is hair do you treat both relaxed and natural hair the same far as taking care of it and styling it. and how much heat is to much heat?

  • when i was younger my hair was down my back, now it seems like it will get to a certain point and then stop. why is that?

  • You are wearing the best full lace front that I've ever seen!

  • I have yet to meet a person with a relaxer who hair grew down to their back. Usually their hair stays the same length or breaks off. Now I know a lot of naturals who have achieve the length they wanted and is happy with the health and condition of their hair.

  • @MrsBooker100 i have a relaxer and my hair is down my back.. but the only reason it is that long is because i get it treated and permed by a professionalist and she charges me 60 dollars each time i come to her.

  • @MrsBooker100 if you visit a hair site by the name of Keep It Simple Sista, you will meet tons of women with relaxers who have mid back length and waist length hair. It's absolutely possible, it just requires diligence and the proper products.

  • I like you, girl!!! Everytime I went to the beautician, they always asked what did YOU do to your hair? And that was when I gave them full rein over my hair. One beautician said while she giving me a touch-up, "You really didnt need a relaxer!" I never went back to her AGAIN!

  • thank u soo much! I have been natural for about 4 yrs heathy hair and to make a long story short got a perm cuz of the humidity here in the south and guess what? my hair came falling out! Been doing sew ins and wigs to grow it back out. It's about 2-4 inches of new growth, should I just go ahead and cut all the rements of perm off?

  • then you're doing them licenses a "disjustice" lol Ok sorry last one.

  • she has helped me so much. I needed to hear this

  • how often should u wash ur hair? can u over condition and wash ur hair?

  • If you did natural hair styles, I'd come to you. I love my natural, but your hair is also beautiful, and I respect your shared wisdom.

  • well said....

i love your hair! it looks so pretty!

  • This is a great video

  • MINES SURE DID GRO FASTER AFTER I BIG CHOPPED LONGER AS IT EVER DID PERMED..:)

  • oh and i also worry about my hair's health. i eat a relatively balanced diet (i could use more calcium), but my hair feels dry when the relaxer wares(?) off. if i could just get it to grow a few more inches, i'd be so happy! i noticed that my nails and eyebrow hair grow back the next day as soon as i cut them, but my hair takes about a month or two to regenerate after a trim.

what type of hair oil is best for my scalp, how often do i need to do this, and what OTC product will moisturize my hair?

  • first, i have to say that by far you are the most informed black beautician i've witnessed; i really appreciate a cosmetologist who gives great explanations

i have hair that runs past the midsection of my back when wet or relaxed (and it's pretty thick, but not coarse). even w/o the relaxer, the texture is alright, but i prefer the texture of the relaxer and my edges and ends are nice/straight. what type of leavein conditioner can i use b/t sessions? & what can i use to straighten w/o gel?

  • . I went to my dermatologist about my hair because my beautician was doing everything in her arsenal to care for my hair and she also recommended that I do so. My dermatologist said to stop perming my hair and now I use the products he prescribed and I just want to know what kind of products can I use to combat the poof although I a not relaxed or natural it seem and I want to go back to my beautician, but I wash my hair 2-3 times a week with the prescriptions that i use.

  • Well i guess i was lucky my hair started thinning in my late 30's i got on a good vitamin and ate proper healthy proportions of food and exercised like crazy i am now 47 and have thicker long hair so that's why i said maybe i was lucky and btw alopecia runs in my family my father had no hair in top but thank u was very informative.. and even now no falling hair it's still growing..

  • thank u <hair is just hair

  • Thank you..thank you ..thank you..now someone just needs to tell all those self righteous sistas who believe that they are 'blacker' than every one else because they NO LONGER relax their hair.

The breakage many women notice is due to maintenance plain and simple.....there are equally caustic chemicals in styling products, shampoos and condtioners, but it is easier to blame the relaxer.

  • @Amorphustruth so right and i am natural sistah...far from self righteous but i do know the types of ladies you are referring too.

  • @Amorphustruth so right and i am natural sistah...far from self righteous but i do know the types of ladies you are referring too.

  • great info...thank you

  • If your hair is relaxed and you want to translate to natural hair BUT! you don't won't to cut your hair off, could this work?

  • Very good video, I have been natural for 2 and a half years. My hair is 14-16 inches long. When it was relaxed it never grew pass 8/9 inches. I realize that was because my former stylist would relax my hair all the way down to the ends so it wouldn't be "bulky".

I have a question about Natural hair. My hair is course and products sit on top of it. This might sound crazy but my hair is just like a raincoat. It get's wet, but it doesn't absorb certain things. Any suggestions

  • @amithists NO I AM NOT MISTAKEN. You see the HAIR BULB is ALIVE. YOU must feed it two gases which combine and make a liquid which we commonly know as WATER. The MOISTURE is recieved FROM the START...why BECAUSE your HAIR is constantly GROWING. NEVER said OILS dont PENETRATE the HAIR. I gave advice to recieve MOISTURE from the start. THE HAIR FIBER is DEAD...so what it didnt get from the START.....you will constantly COAT the HAIR FIBER until it DRIES out and REPLENISH the SOURCE.

  • @MSMIKKO100 I really enjoyed your video...I wanna know something though...do you believe it is beneficial to use oils to treat the hair... my aunt has beautiful hair. I however, have course, yet soft, tight, thin hair that just will not grow the way I would like. my cousin who is half cuban and black has the same hair and my aunt swears that by using horsetail herb, nettle and juniper oil is beneficial...what do you think? please email me @ pamelareddick@aol.com

  • relaxed hair does grow just as long and fast as natural hair because hair grows from the inside of the body out and not from the outside of the body wear we put chemicals on the hair, but relaxed hair USUALLY NEVER reaches the same length as natural hair in the same amount of time because it breaks before its able to get to its full length potential.

  • @PLTbyCormie well thats because relaxers arent for everyone, and taking care of your relaxed hair as if it was natural will make a huge pasitive difference in retaining length. Im relaxed and 90% of the time i wear protective styles, use natural products and wash every 3 to 5 days. I still have length retained and hair is healthy!

  • I hope you remember me from Dudley's, great seeing you! can you do a video on mineral oil on your recommendation on wheter or not you think it should be used.check out my channel and sub please:)

  • can you recommend some good hair products please

  • im so happy i came across this video.....thanks

  • finally somebody who knows what they are talking about....

  • i recently was going to try & go natural. I believe i made it 4.5 months before a mixture of curiosity in how long my hair will be with a relaxer now & impatience with detangling. the very back of my hair nearly reaches bsl while the rest is layered to about my shoulders. i'm trying to grow out my layers & just see how long i can get it. i love the long loose curls & long ponytail styles so i'de like to rock those one day

  • Anyone can grow long healthy hair as long as you take care of it. Relaxed, natural, texturized etc etc

  • Hi...um i want to transition to my natural hair but my mom wants me to keep getting perms. Im also an athlete and i sweat ALOT. which hair would say is best for an active athlete? thanks!

  • this may sound stupid but what is relaxed hair?

  • @shadowkeeper21 Hair that has been treated with a straightening chemical....NO QUESTION IS STUPID...ask ask ask! Thank you and stay tuned and LEARN the CORRECT WAY!!!!!

  • I love you! You're so personable and you speak so much truth! This is what I have been thinking about... that there is a difference between a Hair Stylist and a Stylist who practices Hair Care. You are soooo knowledgeable. I signed in, just to comment on your vlog.

I'm presently between natural and relaxed, about MBL and am thinking of transitioning completely to natural, because I can't find a good stylist by me. I would love to go to you for a consultation!

  • Is your hair is relaxed (on this video) or use an alternative to straighten your (natural) hair?

  • @TheKennesha Full Lace front in this video..thank you and stay tuned and LEARN the CORRECT WAY!!!!

  • @MSMIKKO100 i been using perms since i was 7 sadly. but i stopped like almost 6 months ago. i dont use anything on it except organic products (olive oil for example). is this a good start?

  • wow. youre greatt! & you look like my teacher xD

  • Your videos are so informative. It is true that many cosmetoogists don't really practice healthy hair maintenance or know how to give good advice. I am proof that hair is hair...when relaxed my hair grew long and strong because I maintained it well, and now as a 100% natural (about 2 years now) it is still growing and maintaining well. I do my own hair because I don't trust others with it. I wish I could find a cosmetologist like you in my area!

  • i saw on your theblessed-child website that you offer a curl defining service? what does that involve? can you make a video to show it (at least a before and after, kind of like your straightening video?

  • because that person's hair is not breaking off as much as it would if the hair was relaxed.

  • I love this video thanks for educating me and the world...i have been researching on how to take better care of my hair and i just wanted to know how do u feel about Aphogee as a protein enhancer??? I love all the things ur saying its sooo true and honest!!!

  • Absolutely Fabulous...loved watching this video!

  • I love how you keep it real and get straight to the point - subscribed

  • just went natural almost 2 weeks ago! and loving it!! Natural hair is sooooooo much better! &]

  • um i relaxed my hair once n it was like 2 months ago. but i want to go natural so will my hair damage for stopping.

  • i learn so much frm your videos, your so real

its 90%maintainence and 10% effort- drink and eat well healthily, state of mind and life-style is important,

  • LMAO sho is the truth. what is the issue with ppl perming the whole head like that

  • my hair is actually healthier whe it is relaxed! lol seriously, thats y i keep my hair relaxed because i tried going natural and my hair just went crazy on me!!!! so i prefer to keep it relaxed its so much healthier, silkier, extremely easy to manage (less heat required to style) and shiny!! i love my relaxed hair!

  • why can't u b my hair dresser lol! could u give me info of were ure hair shop is if u live in london pls:)

  • fact is that natural is more healthy than relaxed hair.Natural hair won't break like relaxed hair.....

  • @cherri7 Its not a question of what is MOST HEALTHY...its about RETAINING LENGTH...depending on GENES, HEALTH, CARE and PRODUCT USAGE will determine LENGTH!!!!

  • all the women in my family have severe hair loss starting to thin around age 20. so i did my research and ive been taking b complex since age 15 and im 27 now and my hair is as thick as it was when i was i lil girl. im a witness that bcmplx can control that loss of hormones that cause genetic alopecia it might not grow hair once it thins, but i beleive it will prevent hair loss

  • when my hair is relaxed i can see the growth, but now im going natural, i cant see the growth at all

  • What if you swim. Is there a process that needs to be followed when swimming. When swim season starts I'm in the pool every 5 hours.

  • my grandma (licensed cosmetologist) used to deep condition my hair with queen helen's cholesterol (thick orange gooey stuff) EVERY day i was in the pool to prevent the sun and chlorene in the water from drying my hair out. On top of that, i had relaxed hair (even tho she nevr relaxed it wen i was with her) and my hair grew at least three inches every summer i spent with her and it was REALLY thick despite relaxer and chlorene

  • Hahaha! OMG! this is hilarious! I love the information.

  • i blame the economy

  • Great advice! Thanks so much for your words of wisdom. =]

  • So glad I finally found you! There has been such a need for someone like you on youtube (an actual hair care professional), and I cant wait to start pointing ppl in your direction. Lots of women hate relaxers, and have no idea they can straighten without it. And there seems to be a smear campain against straightening without using relaxers, (started by naturals even!!), that I just dont understand. Thanks for being here!

  • Along with a proper diet, taking Biotin 2500mcg or 5000mcg works wonders for hair growth, nail growth, and skin complexion. Biotin is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin that is found in lot of poultry, nuts, etc. You can find it in pill form at any GNC or drug store. I have been using it for three months now, and the results are very nice!!!

  • Good video. I find that its more stylist than hair care cosmetologist. I remember being relaxed and I had my hair sat under a dryer, blow dried, flat iron, curled, spritz like a helmet, and blow dried again during one time. Never again! I love being natural and I wish I was in your area.

  • @Jamaicanprincess87 ihave to give you a thumbs up on that.

  • Thank you so much for you advice. Since I've gotten the hang of maintaining my hair with healthy, safe products I need to start eating right more! lol

Thanks for the tips Lovely Lady!

  • wow, you are so great for making this video~!wish I had seen it years ago, but glad I saw it now while I still have time to fix the damage! I just finished putting in my relaxer, and after i covered new growth, i smoothed the relaxer over the other hair during the last 5 minutes of processing...wish i saw this video before i started, but i'll never do that again!

  • Oh my goodness! Everything you say is soo true! Stay away from sugar! Eat a low fat diet full of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean meat; fish especially salmon, and take care of yourself!

  • Execellent video!!!

  • I was relaxed most of my life, and it wasn't so much the lack of length, just the over all health of it. It was super thick at the roots, but as it got longer it started to break off and got thinner. I am natural now, and my hair is thriving. I wouldn't say that it is growing faster, but it is A LOT healthier.

  • Natural hair will more likely retain more length because you are not putting harsh chemicals on it. If you want length and you are relaxed you have to do more work to keep it from breaking off especially if you use heat in addition to relaxers. There are women who can retain the length if their relaxer hair, but I have seen more women go natural because they feel their hair is healthier and retains more length and body.
