This isn't how the book went at all. It realy pissed me off. First, in the book Jack used a roque mallet not an ax, second Wendy and Danny never tried to escape using the window, third Wendy didnt use a knife she used a razor, and forth Wendy had blonde hair, not brown or whatever color her hair was in the movie.
this is the film that changed my life completely when I was ten,I've absolutely loved not just horror but films in general ever since.This is amazing.
Shelley Duvall is such a splended actress. Notice her eyes when the full head of the axe is revealed. I think that she did a wonderful job portraying a victim with fear for herself and child caused by her own husband. Jack of course is just plain great at acting freaky and making the audience nervous. That's my favorite scary movie.
Shelley was definately nominated for a razzie for worst actress. Stanley Kubrick only cast her because he thought the audience would be irritated with her voice and actually be hunted down. In my view she was alright, but not what I expected.
Yeah. The shining is one of he best thrillers ever. The nowdays movies aren't so good as early years. Movies like psycho or poltergeist are reaaaaaaally gooooooooood, and movies like the prophecy suck. About the video, you just took one of my favorite scenes of the shining. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

the version made in 97 is good for fans of the book.
it was made for tv and based entirely on the book except for one or two parts.
the stanley kubrick version is entirely different and doesn't explain much. it not scary either, but it's still amazing. you should read the book, you'd understand it..
