Running in black is a bad idea, you want to wear things so people can see you so you don't get hit by like a car, because well that's no fun. Wearing black makes it hard to see you especially at night so you need very colorful cloths. *The more you know music* ;-)

I understand your point about running. BUT Asians typically do not play American football because they lack the overall body mass to do so. If you look at images of Africans of early European ancestry into their 4th and 5th generations, many of them are developing the same tall, lean, heat efficient bodies that would aid someone in long distance endurance running, regardless of where you are on the melanin scale. Being a black person (not a marathon running, lol) I never heard of this before. Strange. as a bi-racial marathon runner :-), I agree. I would be more understanding, of black americans simply running. running for the health benefits, to deter certain diseases like diabetes, and heart disease that is prevalent among black americans. in the beginning long distance running can be lonely, and painful, perhaps the group is addressing that aspect.

Maybe the organization is offering help but instead advertising and visibility? Inner city youth seem to be more affected by advertising and media influence. Basketball is more popular in the black community because that's what you see on tv, magazines, music, movies. Makes sense that if there's a black american marathon assoc they would spend money providing more visibility for the sport and youth would have more interest in it than the media fueled basketball pipe dream.

I believe in some racial traits. it is sort of weird to have an association dedicated to this. but black people are more coordinated relative to whites. asians own at math. but these groups just keep hate alive. doesnt matter if someones better at something, we should all do it together

I am a member of "half breed native 'merican frozen dairy association" that protects our rights to eat vanilla ice cream. I feel that I am discriminated every time and prevented from enjoying my entitlement of that frosty dairy treat. @IHS7 i don't like blacks being treated as special, remedial either. why do blacks have to be reached out to for marathons any more than Asians? many blacks play basketball or football or sprint. Do Asians need a race specific group to encourage them to play bball? i'm black. i don't need any more help than anyone else. It's condescending. Why do so many blacks feel they need a special "reaching out to" as if they're so different & needy? Shall we reach out to whites for basketball?

as a bi-racial marathon runner :-), I agree. I would be more understanding, of black americans simply running. running for the health benefits, to deter certain diseases like diabetes, and heart disease that is prevalent among black americans. in the beginning long distance running can be lonely, and painful, perhaps the group is addressing that aspect.

The worst is, if you tell them that it does more harm than good, they'll tell you something along the lines of "the black community suffered in the past, let us at least have this"... It's sad.
