It is a really beautiful performance. I have a feeling that her performance is great and interprets a true meaning of what was intended for. Congratulation Silvia !
I disagree with those who opine that she is not playing with emotion. Just because she doesn't grotesquely contort her face (ala Salerno-Sonnenberg), flail her body, or have horsehair flying off the bow doesn't mean she is not playing expressively or with feeling. We have been conditioned to only react to visual cues. Close your eyes and use your ears.
she is wonderful but, she did not really make it for she does not have those indescribable charisma that martha argerich has and maestro vlad possesses, she is great. yes, she is beautiful. definietly, she is passionate, yessssss she is vibrant yes, is there a particular (philosophical) magic on her playing............. doubtful........... great and astoundingly superb performance though...........
The maestro, Marcovici, is a contemporary of the German, Ulf Hoelscher, who played this con. in Mainz,1976 which was broadcast by the BBC and recorded by me, in Croydon. Sth London. Charles Groves conducted the BBCSO. I have enjoyed many repeats over the years of that live broadcast, surely the best way to hear music. Hence the today advantage of YouTube. Marcovici was unknown to me til this web stream. Her beauty and talent must have scared the establishment-or why isn't she known? Thanks vm.
@SuckerForRockers I can't care less if she smiles or not when she plays like that. The emotion is in the way she is playing, facial expressions are not needed when the soul is talking (or playing in this case)...
@SuckerForRockers you might enjoy the playing of Ling Ling.....the ugy chinese pianist. he contorts his face like he's having an orgasm, it's fake, it's show..I'd rather have emotion in the playing than watching someone constipated

Are you sure to have heard Mutter playing? Heifetz is too cold, but technically perfect, Mutter is falsely emotional and has an horrible vibrato... PS: That you call "slow" is named fraseggio!
I must disagree, petezpan & joosangbai, I thought the pictures were a distraction and had no effect related to the musik whatsoever. However the divine musik made mestay and watch. :)
Oh, I see, I failed to notice the "lol" at the end of your statement. However, I dont think I am the only one wo failed to see that, for, it seems that joosangbai took it seriously....
I love her interpretation of the Tchaikovsky. The tempo is right on. Any faster and the ear has a harder time distinguishing the notes. You have to realise that the concerto is a duet with the soloist and the orchestra. I don't particularily care for this orchestra's sound. My Favorite is still Pinchas Zukerman with the Israel Philharmonic and Zubin Mehta. Speaking as a violinist, this video was ruined with the showing of art throughout the movement.
what do you mean especially for a girl...women are just as equally musically inclined as men dumb ass!!! SHALLOW COMMENT, when are men going to stop making comments like this!
