  • I love these irish "pipes" - so superior to the Scottish ones - the bag pipes are really only half acceptable when the play for a very short time at a funeral. On the other hand, the "Irish Pipes" can be listened to and enjoyed any time. This is my opinion, I only became aware of these "Pipes" when I researched the Ross Wedding (Friends TV Show) music, which was way too short and there were very little clues to go by as far as the instruments being played.

  • master at work once again... simply amazing stuff

  • Is ea

  • Éireann go brách!

  • This is a stunning performance ...lovely diatonic ornamentation which few would imagine and fewer still execute so well.

  • not to learn...got to be irish. sad about I´m not...

  • Well played .. sure wish I could do that ...

  • Here's something unusual - a perfectionist achieving perfection. This is stunning.

  • Lordy, be---He makes look SOOOOOO Easy.

    What beautiful music!!!!

  • Is he related to Tommy Peoples? He certainly looks like him......

  • That was brilliant! Cheers!

  • I just love to see the tradition carried on amomg the populace, common-folk and the big names...trulu beautiful regardless of origin.

  • Absolutely beautiful! <3

  • The pipes dont belong to any nationality except if you believe in those politically artificially constructed in and around the 1700's. This paying is excellent indeed

  • I love that music, from a distance or from close by,,

I think it is very hard to play that instrument.

    Thanks for sharing

  • What amazing sounds..! Where can we see Mickey perform here in Ireland? I'm an instant fan!

  • I had the privilege of attending a workshop with Mickey. He is such a pleasant man. He taught a wonderful workshop that truly filled me with inspiration. He told stories of his dad and treated us to tidbits that would naught to be found elsewhere.

  • amazing..

  • it's weird how similar, and yet beautifully different and better the uileann pipes sound from the scottish bagpipes.

they such a more, soulful sound. if you love being irish, you know the feeling that wells up when you hear the best irish music (:

  • You know those big pipes that stick out of the top of Bagpipes? Those are called drones.. they play only in a single key without variation. If you notice, bagpipe music tires the ear after a little while.. It's a national music with it's roots in battles and revolutions and such.. limited fun value. The Uilleann pipes have the capacity to play simple chords with the wrist by pressing levers which gives it many more possibilities for melody. It's not a very old instrument.

  • I play both pipes and love them both. It is all a matter of personal likes or dislikes. Some uilleann piper don't use the regulators or prefer the sound of the b flat chanter to the d chanter. The highland pipes are a great instrument and tons o' fun also a very serious instrument.

If you hear a live pipe tuned and played well It never gets old. I love them both :)

  • i wasn't putting down the bagpipes lol and i'm not an expert on the mechanics of either of them i was just noticing the differences, if you're scottish i didn't mean to offend you

  • I was actually agreeing with you! LOL.. I suppose when you try to rate something for how beautiful it is, it becomes purely subjective wouldn't you agree? For me, the uilleann pipes win hands down for melody because of the capacity for chords. I like to hear this at a pub for sure. But have you ever noticed how eerie and strangely beatufiul bagpipe music is when you start to walk away form it and it falls off into the distance? It tugs at your heart stings like nothing else. Makes you proud.

  • ay every video i see of this music is full of americans and europeans fighting over politics and history and god forsaken shit, what ever happened to being able to put aside different views and oppinions and join together in beautiful music? It don't matter if you're american, irish, scottish, english, french, or even chinese, good music is good music so rejoice and be thankful it's even still alive and shared around the world!

  • You really are a sad case of clueless, hateful ignorance. However, no matter where *you* happen to be from, I am at least intelligent enough not to judge an entire nation based upon one asshat's stupid remarks.

No nation on earth has a squeaky-clean history. So, kindly stop drinking the haterade. You have a lot to learn about the American people and what we *really* think.

    Cheers. And, IRISH PRIDE.

  • excuse me mate...im an american. and a PROUD irish republican. i know many guys back in Eire, many of whom proudly served Oglaigh na hEireann, and they have no feckin problem with my support. i think its just you.....Tiocfaidh Ar La!, Up Da RA!, Erin Go Bragh!
