"Iran" is a paraphrase of the word "Arian"! "Arian" is another name for Indo-european ethinc group to which ancient peole like Persians, Greeks, Romans or even Celts and Indians came from! This country is named "Iran" by the Mohamed Reza Shah in order to say that all peoples are equal in his kingdom not only the Pershians!
Anyway: Gordial greatings to our ancient neigboor and friend -and rival for time to time lol.
@corderitodedios69 We are! But I suppose there are Pershian white soupermancits. You just proved it! Or you may are a Pahlevi royalist, living good under Ayatollah's regime! Or just a royalist ("Iran" was made by the father or the grand father of the current Shah)! The Nazi equilized the "Arian" with the "superior"! Only if you are an narcisist offspring of an "Arian" -English, German, American (especially American)- and an Iranian you may believe that thing!
@corderitodedios69 Ah you just say that "Aryan" and "Indoeuropean" is not the same! Because all European people except the Basques are Indo- Europeans. Basques are just Basques. They are the only people who "survived" the Great Indo-European Imigration and didn't mixed with Indo-Europeans!! So you are saying that "Aryans" are just ONE Indo-European people not all Indo-European peoples! Am I wrong?
@Peristerygr yes, youre wrong. im not talking about caucasian or white people. im talking about iranian (="ayrani") people. the term "aryan" was created by zoroaster of bactria, when the iranian peoples arrived to the iranian plateau. "aryanam vaejae" was the homeland of the iranian peoples. aryana (so called the greeks the aryanam vaejae) was the ancient great khorasan. europeans never called themselve as aryans. hitler stole our history.
@corderitodedios69 Read my comment more carefully! That is I was saying! I was saying that Aryans was a subgroup of Indo-Europeans not all Indo-Europeans -and much less western Europeans! Hitler did it because the word sounds similar with the word "Ares', the ancient greek God of war! Nazis were very good in propaganda and in playing with words! By the way sorry for my hard words!
we are all humans, firstly. secondly, according to the genetic test of cavalli-sforza, iranian peoples (tayiks, persians, nuristanies, kurds,..etc) are close the western people more than to the arabs and turks. youre right when you say that we are part of the caucasian people, thats right. but, that doesnt mean that another caucasian people are "aryans". only the iranian people are the true aryans. ;)
PirouzanNahavandi , Cyrus was Great, Sorena was Great , Aboumoslem , Babak and Maziar and........... were Great but Rostam Farokhzad was definitely not Great he was stupid.
Heavy cavalery wasnt fit to fight in the sandy grounds! it is also known that a group of his heavy cavalery deserted and went to the Tazi side giving inside infromation about the persian lines. and yes at the end Persians lost with more numbers and we accept it because of the Moral was broken. but ROSTAM stood his grounds and fought like a hero to the Last breath.!! not like many who fled.
PirouzanNahavandi, exactly my friend as u said heavy cavaelry is no good for desert and sandy grounds. so what kind of stupid Army General would take a heavy cavalery to a desert to fight an army which is used to this enviroment?!!!
mreza. all those who you named were great. but know that the sassanians were the greatest of the Persians they lasted almost 500 years almost twice the achamenids! it was the true golden age of the iranians. and thats why islam could ever make it big because of us . how about you have more respect for the true fallen defenders.
PirouzanNahavandi, Do u know why he did that? because he thought he was gonna achieve an easy victory and he didn't think and underestimated the enemy.Just like ur beloved Shah Mohammad Reza Shah who underestimated the Mullas.
PirouzanNahavandi , it wasn't the first time that Iranians had to fight against the enemy in deserts so u can't realy say that Rostan didn't have any experience. Way before him Sorena defeeted Romans in such an enviroment. do u know why because he was genuis so he brought extra arrows with him to the battle field.this is what we call a true hero not somebody who who didn't use his brian just counting on Ramlo Va ostorlab va Jadoo Jambal.

the story is subject to narration, storytelling. the most favourite part of "Shahnameh" among the rural and nomadic population is the cycle of Rustam, due (perhaps) to the epic and heroic characteristics.
i prefer the version written by Prof. D.N. Mackenzie. The first oral version of "Shahnameh" in Kurmanji (in 2 variants) was written down by Albert Socin and published in 1890 as far as i know. and of course my knowledge is only on Kurdish litterature you have persian, Armenian, any the others.
I don't think Ferdowsi would have named his hero after Rostam Farrokhzad because Rostan Farrokhzad was an idiot. He lost the war to Arabs and that war ended Our Greatness.
PirouzanNahavandi , yeah Rostam Farokhzad was realy graet. He had 40000 soldiers with heavy cavalry and he lost the war to 10000 Arabs but yeah he was realy graet!!! do u even know what great means?!!! We have to start accepting the dark side of history and stop blaming others for our losses.

Rostam, if really existed, he did at the time when there was no Persia.
Most likely he lived during the Aspagan/Asfagan dynasties of Bactria who were able to unite the Iranic tribes mainly in Bactria, Kabulistan and Zabulistan against Baboylians.
Kurds persians afghans baloch we were all the same people in the ancient times, aryan people from mesopotamia, in fact there is no evidence that rostam was indeed PERSIAN, he might as well have been balochi or kurd.

Actually, people from Mesopotamia were Semetic from the start of civilization. You are right on the other point; we are all decended from Aryan tribes.
Man I feel like I have completely neglected my heritage, but I freaking love learning about it. I just rented the Shanameh to figure out what my name means and to read the stories, but I am pretty sure it is not going to be in the book that i got because it is so little and in english because i haven't learned how to read anything but arabic and english. keep educating me, it is my liberation from my ignorance, i like this comment you posted.
Kurds are Iranians, they were separated when the Russian/Ottomans & the Brits attacked Iran, you can sit there & say you aren't Iranian etc, fair enough, me as a Kord do not want Kords in Turkey/Iraq back, your culture is mixed with Arabic/Turkish culture & nothing near mines, Iranian is a race, don't say things that 1st does not make sense 2nd it only makes a fool out of yourself, Iran = Land Of The Aryans, period, stop arguing over something that has already been proved.
Who proved it? a shah who wanted to give the illusion of modernity and declared his country to be Iran so that the Germans spare their souls? This whole Iran vs. Persia is an arguable discussion that may never end, but I don't see why you are trying to drag the Kurds into this! I will have to go back and find some reliable references so that this discussion does not drag (which it already has...).
Why do you say my comments don't make sense? I am trying to tell you that Iran, a word that has been coined not too long ago by a shah, to kiss up to the Germans and the west in general, is a modern political term that is based on the modern nation state and has nothing to do with race. The word Persian, however, is a powerful ethnic group that ruled Persia (geographically roughly Iran today). So, Iran includes many ethnicities including Persians, Kurds, Arabs, Turks, etc...
... and I don't care if you accept me in your culture or not. I took your side in your discussion with that other person who claimed Rostam was a Kurd without knowing what your identity was... I simply say the truth regardless of who agrees or disagrees with me. and honestly you don't sound like a Kurd (or Kord) to me...
It does make you a radical... and your proof of your radical claims is in the description part of the video which consists of nothing more than opinionated sentences such as: "The Kurds in Turkey don't even seem to speak Kurdish" loooool really! who are you to determine if their Kurdish "seems" like that of the other Kurds! you are a joke man...
also, is the map RADICAL or FUNNY? Make your mind up.
Don't play the sheep, the map obviously angered you. Why go off on a non-political video and start political discussions in a subliminal manner?
A sly game usually played by those that are politically motivated wouldn't you say?
and Rostam is/was a mythical character, trying to find out what post code or street his from is a joke. However if you're talking about the roots of the myth itself then that's a different matter.
I never "started" a political discussion. I ended it by providing proofs, which you disagreed with and deleted a few of them.
I did not say which area Rostam came from, I am telling you what Ferdousi said about where Rostam came from. So I am simply giving an accurate description of a character, but you are trying to mold it into a shape that suites your political propaganda...
When did I ever say that I want the Kurds to have a separate state?! You are a radical because you took an opposition position to my opinion simply because you assumed that all Kurds are your enemy! You are the most radical and the most prejudice person ever. WHo said anything about PKK except you? You are politically motivated but I am not... I think any person who reads these long threads will know that you are biased and wrong...
So you don't want the Kurds to have a separate state??
I took an opposition to your comment that "Iran is a new term invented by the Shah". Yet you make the RADICAL decision that I "hate Kurds". Hate and enemy are strong words my friend, and it is you who threw them around like candy. That makes you the radical.
Hey! why did you remove my previous comments?! Thats censorship... a cheap blow even for a guy like you... is that what you do to your ppl in Iran? well I have news for you: in the rest of the world we have freedom of speech, and your censorship does not serve you but only proves that what I wrote is the truth and that you don't want ppl to read the truth. Go spread your nonsense propaganda elsewhere...
Wow! One accidental click and that's what you come up with. You tend to make a lot of assumptions don't you?
I'm no fan of the Islamic regime or Islam for that mater.
You have failed to say anything with true weight. I still cant believe that you said the term "Iran" was invented by Shah. Small example of your lack of knowledge.
There is no animosity towards Kurds. It's just disappointing to see (some) Kurds from Turkey and Iraq forget or even worst deny their background.
According to who? wikipedia? I just looked up Aryan in wikipedia and it matches what you are saying... but you know what? at the end of each sentence there is a label that reads "citation needed" because these radical claims have never been proved! and they are simply dreams of ppl like you who don't know what they are talking about...
@gbeebani You say that "Iran" is just a word that the shah coined not too long ago.
I disagree, the shah only asked the world to call the country what the iranians have been calling it since ancient timess: "Iran" instead of "persia" as first the greeks and then europeans call Iran.
For example, Ferdowsi who wrote shahnameh 1000 years ago never uses the word "persia", but only "Iran" for the country.
Persians are a big ethnic group in Iran but Iran has never been solely or entirely persian
@megabyzus89 you're right. For example the pre-Islamic Sassanians called it "Eran" which is the Pahlawi (Middle-Persian) equivalent of the Avestan (Old-Persian) "Aryana".
The story of Rostam dates back to the Avesta where Rostam is known as Raosta-takhma where Raodh means growth, reaped, developed and Takhma means brave.
Its Iranian, how you got to know it is from your ancestors who used to be part of Iran. Technically Kurds are Iranian peoples anyways.
But due to your separation from mainland Iran, you went stupid and think Rostam as well as other characters such as Zoroaster were Kurdish.
dont waste your time on these donkeys, they try their best to find their way back into our motherland, not knowing they're rejects & we do not want them back.
Rostami Zal is NOT Kurdish... I believe Kurds think so because in the Sharafname Emir Bitlisi mistakes Gord (meaning hero) for Kurd. Here is the text from the Sharafname as translated by the Kurdish Historian M.R.Izady (p39-40):
"Apparantly, the name "Kurd" derives from the term for valor, as most of the bravest of all times and the renowned heroes have issued from this nation. Hence, the stalwart hero and the mighty champion, Rustam son of Zal, whi lived at the time... continued
... of emperor Kay Qubad, is an issue from teh Kurdish nation. Because he was born in Sistan, he came to be known as Rustam of Zabul. THe author of the Shahnama, teh blessed Firdausi of Tuz, thus defines his as Rustam the Kurd." and M.R. Izady explaines in a footnote: Not so. THe phrase is Rustami gord. Bitlisi misinterprets the old Persian orthography that did not distinguis between letters k and g.
Rostam is an Iranian hero. Kurds are Iranian so therefore yes you could say his Kurdish, but an incorrect thing to say would be his NOT Iranian but ONLY Kurdish, that doesn't make sense.
Mythical characters do have ethnicities :-) Back in the days, family lineage was a big deal and so most mythological characters had well defined lineages linking the characters to specific ethnicities.
hmmmm... I am definitely not trying to be political, but you are trying too hard to hide your political motivation behind your comments. Iranian is a nationality and not a race, which refers to current day Islamic Republic of Iran.
If Manchester was to be separated by bigger powers tomorrow would they no longer be considered English? Would it also make sense if "Manchesterians" said that English is not a race and a nationality?
Looooooooool did you say wikipedia... Since when is wikipedia a reliable source for anything! looking up things on wikipedia speaks for your lack of knowledge... (in case you don't know what I'm talking about, wikipedia can be edited by anyone including politically motivated morons who have nothing better to do that waste their times and make a mockery out of themselves. This is even more obvious when you look at the discussion pages of articles relating to the middle east, since... continue

Who proved it? a shah who wanted to give the illusion of modernity and declared his country to be Iran so that the Germans spare their souls? This whole Iran vs. Persia is an arguable discussion that may never end, but I don't see why you are trying to drag the Kurds into this! I will have to go back and find some reliable references so that this discussion does not drag (which it already has...).
gbeebani 3 years ago

I simply say the truth regardless of who agrees or disagrees with me. and honestly you don't sound like a Kurd (or Kord) to me...
gbeebani 3 years ago
NimaSun, you seem to be the biggest radical I have ever chatted with! I don't think anyone in their right mind would post this: watch?v=ZyOsrigrSsM
(make sure you read the comments :-P it sure gave me a good laugh :-)
gbeebani 3 years ago
Your in denial.
and the map is equivalent to me playing Age of Empires, it doesn't make me a "radical".
NimaSun 3 years ago
It does make you a radical... and your proof of your radical claims is in the description part of the video which consists of nothing more than opinionated sentences such as: "The Kurds in Turkey don't even seem to speak Kurdish" loooool really! who are you to determine if their Kurdish "seems" like that of the other Kurds! you are a joke man...
gbeebani 3 years ago
also, is the map RADICAL or FUNNY? Make your mind up.
Don't play the sheep, the map obviously angered you. Why go off on a non-political video and start political discussions in a subliminal manner?
A sly game usually played by those that are politically motivated wouldn't you say?
and Rostam is/was a mythical character, trying to find out what post code or street his from is a joke. However if you're talking about the roots of the myth itself then that's a different matter.
NimaSun 3 years ago
I never "started" a political discussion. I ended it by providing proofs, which you disagreed with and deleted a few of them.
I did not say which area Rostam came from, I am telling you what Ferdousi said about where Rostam came from. So I am simply giving an accurate description of a character, but you are trying to mold it into a shape that suites your political propaganda...
gbeebani 3 years ago
You refuse to answer questions mate.
Also you said Rostam wasn't Kurdish and that he was Persian. Its a baseless argument, Rostam is a mythical character.
NimaSun 3 years ago
* I meant to say read the description... very long and amusing...
gbeebani 3 years ago
If you want the Kurds to be a separate state then fair enough, but to deny that they are Iranian people?
I'm not sure if its your lack of knowledge or your just twisting history to fit your PKK style politics with regards to a Kurdish country.
NimaSun 3 years ago
When did I ever say that I want the Kurds to have a separate state?! You are a radical because you took an opposition position to my opinion simply because you assumed that all Kurds are your enemy! You are the most radical and the most prejudice person ever. WHo said anything about PKK except you? You are politically motivated but I am not... I think any person who reads these long threads will know that you are biased and wrong...
gbeebani 3 years ago
So you don't want the Kurds to have a separate state??
I took an opposition to your comment that "Iran is a new term invented by the Shah". Yet you make the RADICAL decision that I "hate Kurds". Hate and enemy are strong words my friend, and it is you who threw them around like candy. That makes you the radical.
NimaSun 3 years ago
Hey! why did you remove my previous comments?! Thats censorship... a cheap blow even for a guy like you... is that what you do to your ppl in Iran? well I have news for you: in the rest of the world we have freedom of speech, and your censorship does not serve you but only proves that what I wrote is the truth and that you don't want ppl to read the truth. Go spread your nonsense propaganda elsewhere...
gbeebani 3 years ago
NimaSun 3 years ago
Your knowledge doesn't extend as far as it should. Iran was always called Iran by its inhabitants and neighbors.
Iranians are the Azeries, Kurds, Baluchies, Mazandaries, Gilakies, Persians, etc.
Did the Medes and Persians not call themselves Aryan (Iranian)? Did the Sassanians not call themselves Erani? or the Parthians for that matter?
NimaSun 3 years ago
According to who? wikipedia? I just looked up Aryan in wikipedia and it matches what you are saying... but you know what? at the end of each sentence there is a label that reads "citation needed" because these radical claims have never been proved! and they are simply dreams of ppl like you who don't know what they are talking about...
gbeebani 3 years ago
So the inscriptions found from the past are all non-existent?
I guess great historians such as Herodotus were all part of the "radical plot" as well right? Your one confused lad.

Only ONE was deleted and that was an accident, my apologies. I meant to click on reply!
NimaSun 3 years ago
@gbeebani You say that "Iran" is just a word that the shah coined not too long ago.
I disagree, the shah only asked the world to call the country what the iranians have been calling it since ancient timess: "Iran" instead of "persia" as first the greeks and then europeans call Iran.
For example, Ferdowsi who wrote shahnameh 1000 years ago never uses the word "persia", but only "Iran" for the country.
Persians are a big ethnic group in Iran but Iran has never been solely or entirely persian
megabyzus89 1 year ago
@megabyzus89 you're right. For example the pre-Islamic Sassanians called it "Eran" which is the Pahlawi (Middle-Persian) equivalent of the Avestan (Old-Persian) "Aryana".
NimaSun 1 year ago 3
@NimaSun , u are right even Kurds still call it Eran instead of Iran because their language is closer to Pahlavi and middle persian.

it's not iranian epic. it's kurdish epic which's known as RUSTEME ZAR. so fuck ur mouth shut up..........
disaROTIN 3 years ago
The story of Rostam dates back to the Avesta where Rostam is known as Raosta-takhma where Raodh means growth, reaped, developed and Takhma means brave.
Its Iranian, how you got to know it is from your ancestors who used to be part of Iran. Technically Kurds are Iranian peoples anyways.
But due to your separation from mainland Iran, you went stupid and think Rostam as well as other characters such as Zoroaster were Kurdish.
ok pezevek? now sikdirgit!!

dont waste your time on these donkeys, they try their best to find their way back into our motherland, not knowing they're rejects & we do not want them back.

Hope that helped (in a more civil way :-P)
gbeebani 3 years ago
So according to M.R. Izady, Rustami Zol is NOT Kurdish...
gbeebani 3 years ago
Rostam is an Iranian hero. Kurds are Iranian so therefore yes you could say his Kurdish, but an incorrect thing to say would be his NOT Iranian but ONLY Kurdish, that doesn't make sense.
NimaSun 3 years ago
He is Persian (if you want to be ethnically accurate). And no... you could NOT say he is Kurds simply because he is not.
Also, only Iranian Kurds are Iranian :-) I am Kurd... but definitely not from Iran...
Cheers!
gbeebani 3 years ago
You cant ethnically describe mythical characters in detail.
Fair enough, and politics aside, don't you agree that Kurds are Iranian racially?
NimaSun 3 years ago
Mythical characters do have ethnicities :-) Back in the days, family lineage was a big deal and so most mythological characters had well defined lineages linking the characters to specific ethnicities.
hmmmm... I am definitely not trying to be political, but you are trying too hard to hide your political motivation behind your comments. Iranian is a nationality and not a race, which refers to current day Islamic Republic of Iran.
gbeebani 3 years ago
If Manchester was to be separated by bigger powers tomorrow would they no longer be considered English? Would it also make sense if "Manchesterians" said that English is not a race and a nationality?
I suggest you search "Kurd" in wikipedia.
NimaSun 3 years ago
Looooooooool did you say wikipedia... Since when is wikipedia a reliable source for anything! looking up things on wikipedia speaks for your lack of knowledge... (in case you don't know what I'm talking about, wikipedia can be edited by anyone including politically motivated morons who have nothing better to do that waste their times and make a mockery out of themselves. This is even more obvious when you look at the discussion pages of articles relating to the middle east, since... continue
