Yeah I havent done sculpture in about 10 years, so I thought I would give it a shot. The clay I used was just temp, and it eventually melted with the heat in the south (110 degrees) but I was just playing around anyways.....
hey man, nice start. couple things you need to take into account with a new sculpt. been working in 3d apps for some time, so hear me out :P
get reference. your basic anatomy is way off. by getting ref, your life as an artist will be a whole lot easier. and it isnt cheating, espcially when your learning.
Thanks alot man, like I said above it has been a long time since I have done any real art. Mostly I dont know where to start. What is a good self drying clay that I could use?
I'd like to see you tack on more plaster to the back and taper the waist down in the back. What are you using as a modle? I would recommend buying a few muscle magazines.
Ive added a bit more to the back, but im not sure what you mean by taper down the waist in the back. do you mean try and get that V look. Im mostly doing this without a model. I got the DVD cover and looked at that for the ABs and the white tighties but other than that its all freehand.
thing to work on: Torso seems to be one ab to long, there are no shoulder blades, the pecks look like mine (not strong),and he seems a little to skinny in the torso.
cool: The right arm looks great, the legs especially the calfs, and i like the head mock-up (neat idea).
excellent job

Very cool. Outside of not having the upper back muscle thick enough it looks pretty good. Did you ever figure out how to mold it?

What clay do you use? Is it still smooth?
Human like sculptures are very difficult so I would say you did a good job :)

erm, well, im really new to actual clay-sculpting. i do most of my creative stuff on my pc :)
so, well, i really dont know anything about clay. i've used sculpey one time now and it bakes in an oven. otherwise it stays nice and mold-able.

Come on guys, any comments are welcome.
Things I know need work.
Back
Shoulder Blades
Abs need a little
Shoulders
Head
Left foot
The length of the Torso cannot be fixed anymore. The wire frame prevents it, Im hoping that the cloak will help it out a little.
Opinions are welcome, be specific please!
