Well as the singer of this song I was hoping that it would excite some comments...it surely has done that. The song my friends is about peace love and freedom. The freedom for each individual to believe in thier own way. The freedom to be..... The freedom to unite with Nature and learn from it. I believe in Nature and the beauty of a tree. In the structure of the Universe there is a Godness indeed. Enjoy whatever the clip brings to you.....
Well it did indeed David, as well as giving some of us a lot of pleasure, and time to reflect. It has also, unfortunately opend the floodgates for the youtube abusers. I despair at times! Peace to you and blessings on your day.
why did it this have to end up becoming a debate about religion. The world and the people who live on it are moving on and becoming more knowledgeable. There is no god, only people who still want to believe their is one because it makes life easier for them thinking there is always going to be something to guide and help them. The age of the puritans and illogical beliefs are over, Reason and science is now what will dictate the human race.
Beautiful. Kind of a threat too, perhaps Mother Nature will soon bring a great disaster, claiming every human life in order to repair the damage we have done...
Crosby, Stills and Nash used this as an anti-war song by pairing it with "Daylight Again," the title song of their 1982 album, but it isn't necessarily anti-war.
To me, the song speaks about death and our connection to Mother Earth and her cycles. None of us are eternal, not even Mama Earth.
The lyrics are actually a Plains Indian death chant. The warriors would sing it before battle, in order to prepare their souls for the chance that they would be killed. The song is often associated with Crazy Horse or with the Battle of Wounded Knee. Only later was it used by antiwar or environmental groups.
Find the cost of Freedom buried in the ground, Mother Earth will swallow you, lay you body down.
Yeah Stephan Stills could have been talking about war and bodies being buried. He could have been talking about how we are ALL swallowed by Mother Earth one day. He could have been walking down a beach thinking about almost anything at all.....knowing his songs I am sure it would have been about peace and a better world....like an empty beach and the power of the sea that continues on..for ever.
The lyrics also have a biblical hint. In choosing to be free in choices, mankind (Adam and Eve)chose being expelled from Eden and paid the price of becoming mortal.
If you ever, ever had the least bit of common sense you'd know that the bible CAN NOT be fairytales(spelled correctly) and the chances of everthing written OVER 2000 yrs ago, just randomly falling into place and happening EXACTLY as prophesied is IMPOSSIBILITY!
Acoustics are stellar. I'm just a pureist, but I need the guys that wroteit to sing it.

LOL, Climategate.
P.S. This cover sucks. Don't use a classic anti-war song to spread the global warming lie.

Very True. We are seeing the signs now. God has grown weary of our neglect toward nature.

Nice looking video but the music really doesn't fit. Why would you use an anti-war song for an environmental video? Nice work anyhow.

David didn't respond to you, but I think the beach is supposed to invoke Normandy and the Pacific islands during WWII. That's my guess, anyways.

this isnt exactly an anti war song... everyone seems to think it is, but the lyrics speak for themselves. great video!
