Much to be said about metaphor and allegory. At University we learn these concepts, as all language uses the word idea, that is directed at something we personally experience, value, believe creating our world set of values. Even in science, proper logic has a hierarchy of values, creating the science equivalent of metaphor and archetype (i.e. class) used to describe the world. To understand Bosch is to learn his language and world view; as he uses metaphor to wild ends.
All three De Tolnay, Wilhelm Fränger, and Jacques Combe may have what are for most, unorthodox interpretations of the imagery in Bosch’s paintings. I prefer the more down to earth interpretations of Dirk Bax.
they are all themes of heaven, hell, judgment, people being corrupted by demonic influence, the fall of the angels and the fall of humanity into this horrible world
i love it...

It's amazing how this man had such a big imagination. Specially considering his temporal context.

You don't pair Mozart with Bosch, wtf is wrong with you.

Did you ever take the time to translate the words of Mozart's Requiem?

Did you ever think that's it's not from the same period?
warrkrymez 2 years ago
What the hell has that got to do with anything? It doesn't matter! Mozarts Introitus is even used in Watchmen.
LightStijn 2 years ago
Ohh Watchmen, great, that explains it. You get your education from pop culture, don't ya?

No, it's just a simple argument to use against your superficial opinion.

Great choice of music. I've always wondered how Bosch's imagination came up with these images. They are quite amazing.
