Guys we are smarter than this. If you want a "tactical pen" go to Lowe's & buy a set of center punches. You can get a pack of 5 for what you're going to pay for one "tactical pen" you're probably never going to use in self defense or write with. The center punches actually look meaner and are solid tool steel. Tool steel people, it's made to bash with hammers & slam into whatever. Keep one for yourself, give one to your wife, your mistress, & your girlfriend. One smash window gone. Mod at will.
@counterpunch101 That works until you try to get on a plane. I don't carry a tactical pen everyday but it makes me fell a little less naked when traveling by plane with carry on luggage.
@sunfloweroutdoor Who flies that often? If it's everyday you should be on a company jet or your own. What's faster? I don't have to reach for my foot, knee or elbow. Weapons are all around you. Just saying man & trying to get others to think more simply. Fighting is a simple science: hit hard, hit fast, hit often and never stop. My Montblanc is metal, narrow, just as deadly & scribes beautifully. They're not cheap, but any metal pen will do. So will anything harder than flesh.
@sunfloweroutdoor exactly why buy crap that breaks after 2 years when you could save up buy a rolex and not have to worry about buying another watch for 30 years
Can you tell me if this is the color of metal itself or it is some kind of cover that can be scratched?
Because some guy owning the black version said that after awhile his pen got some ugly looking scratches on it and if this is not an issue with this one, i might order this version.
@sunfloweroutdoor These S&W pens are anodized, not coated. Product Features: Model/Part Number: SWPENMPBK T-6061 Type III hard anodized aluminum construction Length: 6.1 inches Weight: 1.4 ounces Finish: Black Refills Available (.7mm): Hauser, Parker, Forey, Fisher (Space Pen) Click On/Off Cap with lanyard hole Pocket Clip Smith and Wesson Logo Engraved in the cap Price Range: $25.00 – $40.00
Such a waste of money. I'm a cop and any thing I can get my hands on will be a weapon. I don't need to go out and buy a 26 dollar pen just to stab a person. I have my BIC pen that'll do the job just fine. A well placed stab will get my message across. I just don't get why anything with a "tactical" in the name is automatically over priced. Tactical flash light, tactical pen, tactical bag, tactical pants...So overpriced for NO REASON. People are buying the name "tactical" and not the product.
@AllAmericanGuy01 We all know anything can be used as an improvised weapon. If I had my choice between a metal "tactical" pen or a plastic bic pen I would take the tactical pen. Have your department buy they for all of their officers.
@sunfloweroutdoor A stab is a stab. No one wants to be stabbed by anything, whether its plastic or metal. A stab hurts and a stab of any material will cause a reaction. As I said, I don't need an excuse to go out and burn 26 bucks on a pen that I will probably never have to use to stab someone with. I've been with my agency for many years and responded to many chaotic and wild calls...Never did I once stab or person or have I even heard of any other officers stabbing someone. It's a waste dude
@alb673 Oh no, the reason why I say BIC is because I've seen some nasty stabbings with BIC...If you don't think so, let me stab you with a BIC pen and see who has the last laugh :-)
@Nahrzek Like any other. It accepts refills. We also have the TOPS and CRKT tactical pens that are slick because they use the space pen writing element.
@ibanezkid07 They are popular with law enforcement but I think the perfect application is traveling by air with carry on bags when you cannot take a knife or your carry pistol. I have traveled for business on one days trips and feel naked without a knife.
Get a strike in the face with a "Tac Pen" and tell me it wouldn't come in handy where knives are not permitted and should you need one... aka self defense. It's also the first thing to use instead of going straight for your pistol, different levels of threat require different levels of response. Just my two cents. ~ TH
id just use a pin or pincle ill have and shank em with it

@Ashengard111 Al of the S&W pens are coated. If you are concerned, try the CRKT Tao pen. They are hard anodized.

@AllAmericanGuy01 ,yeah but you are a copper. And that means you got more options than a pen right?Taser?Gun?Wooden dildo?
So it's not so strange you never needed the BIC pen.
Anyway. Some people like a tougher pen ,than this plastic BIC whimp thing.

@555Nato ...wooden dildo? More like a metal dildo :-)

Nice neat little pen.
What color is that?
I think you are right, most "tactical" pens are over priced.
Any pen can be put into a tacical use and hit someone with it, even a Sharpie made of plastic under $1 will work good in that role.
