Many pros explain the Pass. But they are smart and don't expose magic for free on YouTube. If your goal is to become a Pro then you shouldn't be exposing magic. If any of you have free tutorials on your channel then you are telling the world "Hey look at me I'm an amateur and I have no respect for the art of magic."
@kammagic Most of us just want to learn simple card tricks as a past time, perhaps to toy around with friends.
I understand it's part of the magicians code not to reveal it, but I was saying that we should simply be satisfied with the tutorials we have, and not be ungrateful.
terrible explination ........but thank you for showing it..................would it be possible if u could show it slower and tell us were the finger motin is
very good tutorial.any one who has seen this must know what the pass is, a false cut.i dont get the revealing to layman thing.any tutorial is good .its not killing magic it is passing it on.laymen dont know how to access tricks of this nature.
the people watching this video have an interest in magic, and want to learn. we dont just watch to ruin magic for everyone. and trust me toeface1- just becaus eim not a magician doesnt mean i get what your saying. when people poorly perform a trick, tape them selves doing it, and put up a tutorial for youtube- well that just frosts my pajamas! seriously though, if you dont know what your doing, dont post. learn, ger better. then show us what you got!
MajorYT has a point. i love magic tricks, and i search youtube to learn new tricks or develope skills. i do own a few books on card tricks, but be real- their all for beginners. for people like me who want to learn and perform for friends, not persue a career- what else is there but youtube? magic is getting less and less secretive lately. especially with the masked magician stage wise....
When all of these classics are revealed, magic dies. If that's the case, then YouTube is a serial killer.
You'd understand if you had practiced your life to complete marvellous sleight of hand, and one of the most important sleights (The Pass) is revealed by some random, careless bloke on YouTube.
first of all, how stupid wud u have to be if u had to spend ur life practicing something as basic as the pass. I spent 3 days practicing ego change, and its every where on u tube, who cares...
Crossovahh - you're an idiot, so I will treat you as such. Re-read what I said, and it'll make more sense to you.
I said that you practice SLEIGHT OF HAND all your life, not the pass you fool. I'm saying that something as important as the pass is revealed to laymen.
Alright, stop stereotyping. You're talking as if everyone watching this video is a layman. Some aren't. How else are Magic enthusiasts supposed to enhance their skills in this fun hobby other than going to video links? Buy a book? DVD? Get a private teacher? Have you thought about financially needy people?
First re-read MY reply to you earlier and absorb it well before you keep generalizing, "LAYMEN LAYMEN LAYMEN". Ignorant creature. >_>
you don't become a physician by watching youtube and reading wikipedia... why should a profession, that is based on the mistery survive if you destroy that... if someone wants to learn what has been developped over hunderts of years, spending a few dollars for a dvd or finding someone to learn from a pro can not be too much to ask...
Financially needy people should not be focusing on magic, for one. Secondly, no real magician would benefit from tutorials on YouTube. The only stuff that makes its way here are pretty basic moves, and nothing that special.
However, it is this set of basic moves that encompasses much of sleight of hand card magic. Exposing this to more people (Regardless of them being laymen, your mom, your teacher... whoever) is potientally limiting the reactions a magician will get.
Limiting the reaction of a move that was performed flawlessly could only discourage the magician and further kill our "industry" or just become so common that people are immune to magic (to a certain degree)
Either way, exposure over YouTube is *not* a possitive thing for the industry. Instead, post the performance only, and send tutorials out by request to people that are serious. Also, for the "financially needy" there are IBM rings all around America.
no offense dude but this is the information age. people want the tutorial. If some magician can't adapt to modern times maybe he's past his time like buying dvds or reading newspapers. you can't put this back in the box now that mass video has happened. i'm no magician so honestly. i don't care about the "industry" that's not intended to be disrespectful just show my perspective. i'd like to learn the trick. no more no less. it doesn't affect my opinion of what some skilled magician can do.
I understand and am a "man of that age" myself, however... Magician's code, if you would, has been long forgotten. You should never show magic to someone not serious about learning it. All you do is demystify someone. Whether he exposes this to his friends in real life or to "masses" is irrelevant -- in the eyes of a real magician it's just as bad.
fair enough from the "real magician" perspective. I think however most people, say like jordan or a tiger woods shot, can still marvel at the skill and the execution. and honestly don't you think this could push more innovation. really i'd guess a tiny amount of the public learns the "secrets." and even then it's basic stuff. I understand the code but i'd say fine among magicians but with mass media means you'll have lots of non pros doing magic and mass dissemination is bound to happen.
i understand what you mean. Mayor and Crossovahh, you guys should actually be able to do magic before you say stupid things about it. Though i suppose the majority of what you say is stupid...
Thank you very much, watched MANY tuts on youtube, I could do it but WAAY too slow, this is a 6 STAR tutorial, the best out there (apart from DVD's)!!!
The upward motion is needed to cover the angles. Keep in mind, on a video there's no body misdirection. The pass needs to be good, but the misdirection is far more important in my opinion.
lol youtube said I exceeded my commenting limit O.o :P whatever... anyways, I taught it was a good explanation and you perform it way better than I XD!
i was a beginner.... now i think im pretty good i learned from watching this video at first i didnt understand what he was saying. If you jusst watch the vid a couple of times youll get it..
A real magicion, even while exsplaining keeps moving his hands lol. TIP : when making a tutorial dont move your hands while you are talking so much, is very confusing for amatures to follow, like me. he he. performance: 10 points exellent more then 10 points btw :) . tutorial: poor
You can get a good start in a month, but nowhere near where you want it to be. You'll start to understand what needs to be done, then you'll need to work on making it natural and smooth. Good luck man.
It does not require large hands. I started doing the pass when I was around 10, so my hands were pretty small. It certainly helps to have larger hands (to cover the angles more easily) but if you have the angles covered, and you get the move down smooth and you eliminate all muscle tension, and you produce enough direction then you should be fine. Keep in mind that the move requires plenty of practice, so don't think that you'll be able to perform it properly after an hour.
send me a video of what you're doing and I'll tell you what to need to practice. It takes a long time to master. I'm gonna make a new tutorial, with other angles, but it may be a while, my camera busted.
one thing im having trouble with is making it look like one movement. even when im in front of a mirror i can see my left hand holding the other deck, im trying to conceal it but it still evident. any tips? my main problem is the left hand (ie moving the original top deck behind the other one). is there some way i can hold it which gives me better control? for instance, when i pinky break, should i leave my left pinky underneath the deck even when im spinning it?
which part? I'll clarify. You will not master this move without LOTS of practice. If there is a particular part you don't understand tell me which part. Thanks for watching.
i dont understand your explanation.....i dont know which hand to hold the deck in.....it would really help if you put it in a different angle....it would also help if you put a lot of details on your explanation...because its hard to understand...
I know. I was shooting this with my digital camera which has a 30 second limit for a clip, so it was kinda hard to do, when I get a better camera, I will post a detailed video. Thanks for watching.
Hey man, you do the pass fucking well. Most magic on youtube sucks. I mean really bad magic, because people suck and can't do it. But you did the pass well. I like to watch tutorials because most people who teach bow big time. But you're good.
Many people believe that they have hands that are too small, but it's a myth. I've been doing the pass since I was 10. The key is to practice in front of a mirror and do it all day.
perfect execution!:)

If you were a magician you'd understand.
Magicians live by an oath. It says that no tricks shall be exposed to people who aren't going to learn magic/are practicing magic already, AT ALL.
How many up and coming magicians/magicians are on YouTube when compared to laymen? Huh?
Just think before you type.
