  • all that money on the engine, and youre using a centrifugal clutch?

why not just invest in a torque converter or tranny?

  • if ur going to make up a whole clone racing engien and put it on that peace of shit i wouldnt even think of driving it unless it was on a margay or a cyote fame

  • me and my buddy got one of these greyhounds but we dont know where to get a centrifugal clutch for it. help?

  • @fatharmonix Anywhere affordablegokarts(DOT) com... any go kart place. just make sure the clutch match your sprocket size and the clutch is a 3/4" bore

  • were did you get the go kart at?? ?

  • What octane do you use in your kart! the manual says 91 plus but I used 87

  • do you know where i could get thoughs parts in australia

  • Iv taken the govener out of my honda clone 6.5 hp engine and plan to get a new carbaretor do i need a new cam or not? If i do need a new cam what els do i need for the engine if i get a new carburetor and had taken the govener out? Please help!!!!

  • No cam necessary.

  • @jefff1397 since you removed the govener i recommend you change the conrod & bearing, the stock ones arent ment to be run without the govener

  • @jefff1397 If you have taken the governor out you need to replace the fly wheel with an aluminum one. The higher RPMs will lead to the stock fly wheel to break.

  • whats the website?

  • Affordablegokarts

  • @briggsandclones im buying stuff off there to tune a real honda 6.5HP engine, gonna buy a $100 cam, got a 24mm mikuni, roller rockers, gonna manufacture custom pushrods, air filter holder, exhaust, intake and exhaust manifolds, machine the head, make gaskets out of gasket paper, fit a pulse fed pump, drill and tap holes, and all that for a school project. for $290 i get the pump, the engine, any parts i buy, and a clutch.

also will buy 10.9 grade bolts

  • i coulda sold you my b&s racing engine that puts out 13 hp for 700

  • hey i just bought the same engine. i put it on my go kart and found out that it idles sooo high that it starts engaging the clutch and going without pushing the trottle. does anyone know how to fix this or how to change the idle speed?

  • @jefff1397 you use bike cable and then under the fuel tank there is a govener sping where you connect it to this helps because it makes it quicker i will have a video soon on how to do this.

  • briggs 7 stratton

  • where can i get that clutch !?

  • Still got the original carb ? Would you be willing to sell it and how much ?

  • i bought the same but with a indy car body and dr peper logos. got it for 250.

  • i got the same frame but my frame has a wing

  • 20hp my ass your fulla shit

  • Just a quick question... If you put so much into that engine, why didnt you just buy a high-performance one in the first place?

  • @Geminimissions because some times they dont have one that is exsactly what you want most of them are basicly stock or too exspensive and also alot of go karting is being able to say you built it

  • It'd much much more lol.

  • what compression is in it

  • @RawrTheWord if he is running a flat top piston and a 14cc head at least 12;1

  • sorry bud but....to put that much money into a hundred dollar engine is just plain stupid not only do those mods add almost no power but you should have started with a genuine honda those clones have about the same metal used in frying pans, those sites that sell "performance" parts for small engines are to get people like you to buy parts thats make almost no difference....also why spend 1000 or so dollars on your engine and slap it on a 50$ frame? for $1000 i would buy a twin 18hp Briggs!

  • Why not?

Buy a twin 18HP Briggs. Gear it the same ratios. You'd beat me for about a few seconds before I'd fly past you. No replacement for displacement, but modifications to take their toll.

  • @briggsandclones ok...you think your engine puts out around 20 hp right?....what clutch do you have?

  • Crappy Max Torque Centrifugal.

  • @briggsandclones well right there iv proved your 20hp theory wrong, that clutch will only do 8hp, after that the motor is to powerful and it will just burn the clutch and the cart will barely move

  • You're an idiot... you can burn that "8HP" clutch up with a 2HP motor... this clutch is "rated" for 3,6000RPM. I think we can both safely say I have gone MUCH past that rating.

Your point? Turbocharge a car. 7-10psi. Oh no, it's gained power, torque, AND now has gone "over" the manufacturers intended uses!

Now we can sit and watch and it'll burn up in seconds!

Get real. It won't last as long, that's it. I baby the clutch like a m*ther.

  • @briggsandclones buddy iv put a 8hp rated clutch on a 11hp engine ya know what happened.....i didn't move barely at all and made alot of clutch smoke....the kart wasn't even drivable ...i don't even think you know what your talking about.....there wouldn't be ratings on clutches if they didn't mean anything....

  • That clutch was roasted then. I have a video of me BABYING this clutch. You're an idiot, they have ratings for a reason, yes. You take it OVER that rating, it doesn't self-implode. You'll get shorter life and more slippage in comparison with a motor <8HP.

  • @briggsandclones yes i agree taking the clutch a little over the rating is fine...like a 9hp engine with a max 8hp clutch...... but your saying your engine puts out 20hp thats more than double the recommended HP i dont think the clutch would hold up if your engine put out that much power....

  • You really think all motors make their max HP at engagement RPM?

  • @spikerbrad23 lol...you are just some idiot that doesn't understand how a clutch works so you just see numbers and say it won't work...

  • @enel1221 i guess your right...iv only built a go kart and a mini bike by myself how would i ever know how a clutch worked........

  • @spikerbrad23 well i'm just glade you can admit it

  • @enel1221 i was being sarcastic bud....i know exactly how a clutch works.....

  • @spikerbrad23 lol so was i, but if you knew how it worked then you would know you can use a modified engine like this one with a clutch rated for lower hp only really matters how much hp the engine has when the clutch is engaging, this engine might have 20hp but that is only going to be at high rpms well after the clutch is already engaged, now yes if it has an unreal amount after its engaged, enough to make the clutch slip at high rpms which this engine doesn't then yes the clutch would burn up

  • @enel1221 ya its possible the clutch could still engage and work but i dont think it would last long when then engine is putting out more than double the recommend power....however it could i suppose

  • @spikerbrad23 well like i said the engine doesn't put out 20hp before it catches it might not even be putting out 8, but like he said he babies the clutch so as long as he doesn't just floor it, just accelerate slow until its fully engaged

  • @enel1221 Exactly. Thank you. It may not be making 20, but I'm pretty sure it's close around there. May be getting back into this project this summer.

  • @spikerbrad23 i agree first off to produce "20"hp in one of these motors you have to rev like a weedeater and to be able to move that much air you have to have higher lift cam and in doing so your motor will run poorly at lower rpms thus with a stock clutch which ingages at say oh 2500 rpm your kart may not even go so your clutch will prbably survive because you cant even use it heres a tip get a clutch with that has differant springs in the kit and get a looser gear that use that motor well

  • @bobrossftw ya i agree with you i dont think he understands that his motor cant really produce that much power if it did his 8hp rated clutch would just burn into dust

  • @bobrossftw you couldnt be more wrong first offweed eaters because from being a 2 stroke and small they rev past 15000 an four stroke hitting that much is almost impossible and second minidragbike on youtube has vids of gx 200 engines pushing way more than 20 hp spinning in th 8000 range alsso he can be making 20 hp these engines are hp monsters like the gx 390's

  • Comment removed

  • @jmoney321123 you dont understand what you are talking about ya weed eaters spin real high its a figure of speech and i was not doubting his ability to produce 20hp i was saying that if he was producing that much he would need to spin much higher than a stock cam would allow which is around 4500-5500 rpm on a basic stock motor and if you do some research like i have then you would know that these motors can revv to 12000 pretty easy. engines are a compramise and if you dont get that then go away

  • @bobrossftw fool i buid these motors and and have seen the best non can rev to 12000 i flathead briggs cant even rev that high the most a billet rod can take is 10000 or maybe 11000 if your lucky but no honda or honda clone could think to hit 12000 in this life time and if you find one or a vid of one show it too me and i will take back everything i said. also more rpms dont neccesarily mean more hp the more rpms you have the wider your powerband can be trust ive built many engines

  • @jmoney321123 read what i wrote again and think for a second and btw these motors can be built to run at 12000rpm easy, pricey but easy

  • this kart is worth $50 without the motor lol and you can buy those 6.5 clone engines for $119 lol

  • It would kill your little Raptor.

  • No offense, but I dont think you could possibly put $1000-$1500 dollars into a $150 engine...

  • Don't make me add it up.

  • @Geminimissions no offense but you can build a nice 350 chevy for the money we put into these engines when we were racing the L-head briggs it was nothing to sink 3 grand into one

  • @Geminimissions very easy stroker kit $450, rod 60, piston 23, flywheel 105-110, carb set up 100, shall i go on go to agk.com look for yourself

  • i don't belive that it has at least 20 hp :p, a buddy of mine has a 200 honda clone bike, runs like crap, only thing you can do to those engines to get more power is changing your compression ratio and mounting a bigger carb an modding your cam to make the valves open more

  • That's essentially what I've done... so stfu nubbles ^^ )

  • @briggsandclones Noob! i would belive like 15 horsepower:p change your carb to a koso PWK 34 mm and port your manifold to make it have better flow, and your manifold should have the same volume as your cylinder, but its much easyer if you wwant to have a fast cart is to get a snowmobile engine or a real honda gx390;)

  • Why the hell would a 196cc motor need a 34mm carburetor? That's just EXTREMELY over carbed. It wouldn't run for two craps o.O

Why port my intake manifold? It's not a restriction. My intake volume... the... oh wow. This is a INTAKE MANIFOLD. NOT a intake PLENUM with different velocity characteristics. We are NOT talking about cars over here, where the plenum needs to be tapered and/or modified to gain equivalent flow to each cylinder -.- newb

    GX390 = ooborphail:)

  • @briggsandclones maybe better flow?:p, noob:p

  • @kebabtralla2k ya and that is how internal combustion motors work congrats

  • i dont think it is any were near 20 hp because i dont think thats clutch could support that much hp

  • Any clutch can take any amount of power, it just depends how you treat the damn motor. I slowly accelerate off the line... one reason for the clutch, another was the extremely rigged throttle cable, lol.

  • @briggsandclones not true trust me i know......

  • HEY WHERE DI U GET THE CLUTCH AT?

  • It's a Max Torque, there are alot of clutches around.

  • HEY WHERE DI U GET THE CLUTCH AT?

  • whow why dont u just do what i did i buildt a 13hp briggs ohv engine with a turboed supercharger it ran great until the rod broke at about 8000rpm o n its got custom valave springs so thats why it would run 8000

  • What do you call a turbo supercharger? Lol. Valve springs won't get you to 8000, they'll just LET you run 8000 :)

  • @digdug132 a turboed supercharger is a superchager with a turbo the turbo forces the air in to the blower or super chager and then it forces the air in to the motor so i builds a shit load of boost and i have have it govened at 8000 it ran 10350rpm when i destroyed the first one

  • Wtf?

  • look at my vids

  • i love the corvette body

  • lol man i have a 6.5 honda clone and i got it brand new for 100 bucks....so i doubt you spent 1000-1500 bucks on this thing...well lets put it this way if you did, you got ripped lol

  • Nah man, it's when Clones first started appearing. I bought a billet fly for $200... it's not $100.

  • *now

  • yeah i said i got it for $100 and it was originally $199.99 a local store around my area "princess auto" had them on for sale around christmas...

  • How do you hook up the throttle linkage to a 6.5 ohv Harbor Freight engine on a small go-kart?

  • i have a mini bike and im using a dirt bike throtle and have a homemade connection plate that pulls on the throtle arm and carb arm with springs

  • drill a hole threw a bolt and put it in the largest hole and bolt it down thats how i did it

  • i have the same question if you figure it out pleas tell me

  • @partytime334 We got a longer throttle cable and ran it under the engine and up the back so that it pulled from the back rather than the front. Then secured it to the engine throttle. Works great!

  • @orangepop1234 no no no he means after all the extra go fasties it was 1500 they can be exspensive

  • by what ive heard, i DOUBT this thing making 20hp..

is there any head work done? (not the bolt in bits)

  • As in porting and whatnot? Don't think so lol. I'm thinking about building another one of these...

  • yeah you should, get alot of work on your head, intake and exhaust ports should be bigger considering you do have an aftermarket carb.

and at the sam time you should get your valve bored and get some bigger valves, my valves are taken from a chevy diesel 6.5L

also should get .040" taken off your head and get a high compression piston..

trust me, do that and youll be havin a lot more fun.

  • i got a yz85 motor in decent frame it wud smoke that thing

  • That's nice. But for now it's a engine sitting on the floor.

  • lol y dident you just get a bigger motor

  • I could, but the footprints are different, clutch would be a bitch if it used a 1" diameter shaft, and a couple other things. I just enjoy modifying motors.

  • ahahahaha soooo gay my 1984 yamaha srv could smoke that thing. and it cost me $150 used, 4 strokes suck!!!!! and fuck sump oil, lifters push rods and timing. kid you wouldent know motors if I beat you over the head with one... so do us all real mechanics a favor and go back to playing in the sand box you are just a little kid.

  • @elpackaCOOP god shut up faggot

  • Is it ok to run a NOS kit on a stock one of these?

  • "Hole shot" nitrous kits? If so, they're ghetto.

Save up $200 and build a proper one, retrofit it to a go kart, and then later one you can put it on your car. Literally.

  • Wouldn't it have been better to buy a $1500 bike engine?

  • Probably :) :P

  • @saturnv3 ya but for cart guy its more about the wtf factor

  • How did you get the throttle wire hooked up to that

  • you hook up the cable to the butterfly on the carb

  • if you have the ARC flywheel do you need to file your fly wheel key or dose the flywheel provide advance timing with the stock key?

  • Has the 8 degree key.

  • that's like 400 worth of mods MAYBE

  • When flywheel first came out, it was $175. Rod was $79. Manifold adaptor was $49. that's $300 right there. Stop complaining. Cam was $50 + shipping. Rockit key was $10. Mikuni was $60. Push rods were $35. Bolt kit $25. 14cc head $40. SS valves $60. 26lbs springs $25. Billet retainers and keepers $65. 1.2:1 ratio rockers $40. Lash caps $25. Flat Top Piston $55.

There's plenty more. When this shit first came out, it was expensive as hell. Get over it, I wasn't lying.

  • what happened to the body

  • would this kit be fast on a mini bike

  • i looked at the arc racing web site would you recamend u build kit DJ-1005for a mini bike, will i need a sepret fule tank for this kit...do i nee the fule pump...will this kit run on gas or alc.

    pleese reply

  • Gas, and you're gonna blow the rod and flywheel out. It's both stock.

  • Comment removed

  • want to get a 6.5 clone for mini bike but i like speed and thay dont have very high rpm what would be some easy mods to give these 6.5 higher rpm... plese reply

  • Yank off the rod and flywheel and put on ARC rods and flywheels, 8 degrees advanced, 1.2:1 rockers, 18 pound springs, 14cc head, and a 22mm Mikuni and a Flat Top piston with a straight header and call it done.

No cams, then you gotta go with 26lb springs.

  • hey how fast does the kart go because im getting a 6.5 for mine

  • Decently fast with a stock 6.5.

  • you should have just bought a honda engine in the first place

  • Clones are 75% cheaper.

  • my kart runs a clone motor but i race on dirt tracks its so diffrent

  • live axle would have been my first modification

  • The body of that kart is sweet!

  • I should fix it up lol.

  • good job u can read the manuel on the motor from comet good job

  • Built it up from scratch boy. Comet doesn't build clones. Only comet part on this is their cheap 3/4" bushing clutch.

  • dude comet does to... if u raced like i do then u would know that u dumb asian... go back to ur country..u should know that they sell manuels for those because ur country makes the manuels for them...

  • LOL, to my knowledge, comet builds TAV's, and clutches. Dunno about the rest, and if you're idiotic enough to beleive that I didn't build this myself, cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get the FUCK over it.

  • could have gotten a good dirt bike for the money you waste on a toy go cart.......

  • And a dirt bike isn't a toy?

Least I can build up a motor now. Yay.

  • Your full of shit you dont got 1k in the motor lol clone are only like 600. i have a 6.5 too with flat top lighten flywheel strocker kit long rod 18lb springs shaved head stock carb with 125jet set on methanol with s pipe i can turn mine 13000rpm on the stand but when racing only 7max these motors are bombs waiting to go off.
  • Yes I do. I have a flat top. With new rings.

Not a lightened flywheel, a ARC Billet flywheel.

Stroker kit = fail, they're $300 right there.

Long rod = LOL. Me too. In my motor and in my pants.

18lbs springs = 26lbs springs, which means stronger valve components such as pushrods and all that shit too.

    13,000 freerev? ,You're a crazy ass nigger.

  • Why you think its crazy for??

becuz i can rev my kart 13k rpm and not grenade?

  • No shit sherlock.

  • Call me Mr.Risky

  • jesus christ kid! invest that money into a car or a truck........you need to get laid BAD!

  • I don't really give a crap for women XD

  • u are so full of shit why would u spend a grand on that i can buy that engine *except in black for $260 lol and u spend at thousand dollars on parts and it's not pushing 20hp 10 12 at the max i do samll engines ass well and my dad is a mechanic take your bullshit and shove it technineriderTEH is right

  • Lol, that's a race prepped engine. Stock engine, just no governor, sealed up, and oil sensor removed. Nothing special.

With the mods I listed, in a flatty, 10/12 is a good estimate. Not on OHV's smart one.

  • that aint a honda that is a blue max 6.5 hp engine retails for like $150.00

  • Read the title...

  • it's funny you say its producing more than 20hp, those centrufical clutches (THE ONE ON YOURS) ONLY are rated (the heaviest duty one) for 10hp. at 15 or more that clutch would EXPLODE. so nice try :)

  • LMAO... right.

They're rated at how much power they can take before they start slipping due to the excess power... generally the higher the HP, the bigger the load you're carrying, and thus, that's what the clutch is rated for.

3600RPM is what it's made for, any RPM higher (after it completely engages), it's just like having a direct chain drive...

Don't talk shit unless you know shit.

  • Listen you fish head fuck, a 2008 crf 150R has a 39mm carb, 4 titanium valves and rev's to 13000 rpm, IT PUTS DOWN 21 HORSEPOWER. Your trying to say your pile of shit industrial motor makes more than 20? IT REVS to 3600 RPM YOU FUCKING FAGGOT. crf 150r (HIGH COMPRESSION) 4 titanium valves rev's to 13 000, your's 200cc 2 steel valves rev's to 3600 HAHAHA YOUR FULL OF SHIT FAGGOT.

  • The governor is removed smart one. 3600RPM? With all those mods? If I can rebuild an engine (which I did), why would I NOT remove the governor while adding $1000's of parts in it?

  • how fast dose that cart run? with all your modification?

  • No idea.

  • how heavy is the engine?

  • 30-35lbs.

  • where do you get that stuff!?!?!?!?!? Please tell me, I really want to pull some more power out of my 9hp briggs.

  • Briggs and Clones are completely (parts wise) different.

  • sooooo, there are no upgrades for mine?

  • Maybe, I have no idea. Go to 4cycle dawt com.

  • all this tech babel about some shitt leaf blower (joke) engines. his mouth popping off at a hundred miles a minute abotu all the mods and money wasted could have been used to mod a real honda motor 1.6l or bigger. but i do give the guy props since instead of paying out the ass for the real honda motor he got the clone and used teh extra money on mods to make it just as good or better than its counterpart. *shrugs*

  • I can buy all that and get a Honda. Sure. Just that when I buy it, I'll have no idea about anything. I built this to learn =)

  • no one cares about your gocarts story

  • yea with the same lift you could probably make a 26mm work. that way when you do even mod mods you will already have a carb ready

  • ohh and with that motor you could probably do a 24 or 26 carb

  • millimeter of a carb?! :O

  • ok alright i will admit i was a little over the top with my comments as well. like i have said before i like your videos i am a subscriber and keep up the videos.

  • Same =)

  • ok fair enough... you dont need to do a dyno run. (they are only like 35 dollars) ALL i think you need to show to me and the rest of the people that say you arnt making 20hp is some simple clams from real companies: I.E -"adding our camshaft to you clone motor GAURENTEES a 800hp horsepower gain over stock" (that was a joke) just stuff like that in your description from their websites and i will believe you ok. gesh

  • IT DOES? 800?! YES!

    lol.

Well to be quite honest a few of my comments may be a bit off, while I was building engines at THIS stage (this video), I was still "going by the rules" doing bolt ons and getting high HP estimates.

These days, I saw SCREW HP estimates, just work with what you got. I port my own stuffles now, ect.

  • i did miss the flat top piston and the advanace timing (which by the way does not do all that much) so i will give you that but you should have read my original post as i mention almost everything you called me out on. you have a good motor its better than mine. but you are not making 20hp i said you could be making 18 just because i was trying to end this gay internet fight. honestly you cant be making over 15hp...like i said SHOW THE DAMN NUMBERS. i am done

  • Advancing timing does a good amount of power gain. Lol, I said about 20 sounded right compared to others. Notice how I NEVER argued about my power, I just argued about how you set the fact that Clones can't be easier to have power gains on than other engines (they do). And unless you pay for a dyno run, I ain't running it.

  • first of all i dont want to argue with you on this its gay to argue on the internet...

anyway...i did mention the cam as major the didnt realise you have "RATIO" rocker i figured you just went stock rockers. if you new anything (WHICH I THINK YOU WOULD) you would have gotton a flywheel from a smaller motor or one that ways less atleast. you clamed a stock flywheel could do 7k (rpm) so why upgrade if its the same weight. and your little simple candy cane header doesnt do much. SEE PART 2

  • 1) Uh, sorry, in case you don't know, there are no "bolt on" swappable "lighter" flywheels unless you went with a Honda Aluminum.

    2) A stock flywheel CAN do 7k, although I HIGHLY do not recommend it. I'd say around 5.5k-6k, and even then, still a ticking time bomb.

    3) Why upgrade? Because in case you don't know, advancing ignition does increase power, however, kickbacks are more occurent - a lighter flywheel = less momentum to keep the engine spinning when you first start it = PAIN.

  • look i love your motor but you are not making 20hp and your not running alky of you are so didnt say so. the only really significant mods you have are 14cc head and flywheel and a cam every thing else would get you up to 8hp so those 3 mods would not bump you up 12hp. you did a could job on your engine but you are not making 20hp, more like 15 maybe maybe maybe 18hp maybe.

  • Which is close enough to 20.

Major stuff... flywheel? It's almost the same weight!

Lol... major would be the cam, ratio rockers, flat top piston, 14cc head, advanced ignition timing, and header.

  • WHEN you show numbers i will believe 20HP right now you cant have more than 15HP, adding an airfilter exchaust and 90 main jet can no way in hell give you 2HP

  • Then it's called you have NOT worked with a OHV motor. Flatty boys won't get the same power gains as Clones. Alky on Clones will get you .5-1HP gain. Flatty? Holy crap... 3-4HP tuned right.

  • haha wow.. theres no way your putting out 20hp. maybe 9hp at the most.. the only way you could get 20hp is if u run on methanol and have a 400+ billet cam, and a clutch will not support 20hp.. sorry..

  • Sadly, this is NOT a flathead.

Though I don't blame you, I doubt you could tell a difference.

ARC Racing is plain proof that this shit is possible. These make 9HP with a jet, de-govern, filter, and a header. On Dyno.

So let's see... I have all that... plus... Billet flywheel, 8 deg advanced timing, billet rod, 1.2:1 rocker arms, chromoly push rods, SS valves, 26lbs springs, billet retainers + keepers, Torq-Tube, UNI filter, Super Dyno X 275 cam, 14cc head, flat top piston... lol.

  • i know its not a flathead. im just saying theres no way your putting out 20hp. first of all the only things giving you more power is maybe a little from the rockers, the cam will only give 1-2hp at the most. the valves retainers, push rods, and the rod wont add power, they just help it handle higher rpms and more power.. but who knows i could be wrong.. im just saying cuz ive seen a briggs intek fully built on a dyno wit just about everything you have done. and he only got 15hp to the crank.
