  • sounds great! i live in North wales where abouts was this ken? :)

  • It was recorded on Talacre Beach.

  • You look, erm, cold. :-) You still managed to play brilliantly though! :-) X

  • really nice outdoor video. the ending was a refreshing twist.

  • And that was the "best" recording I got that day.

  • Beautiful scenery Ken! It feels funny for me to see a beach looking cold, but there was something about it that I really liked. It didn't affect your playing at all - still as wonderful as ever.

  • True, I think everyone expects beaches to be warm, Michelle. People associate holidays with them. This one is about an hour so away. We go there often to walk.

  • The cold doesn't seem to affect your playing, except maybe those last two strums!

    Love that tree trunk bench!

  • The Kiwaya uke is a wonderful instrument, but very unforgiving if your fingers slip.

  • nice view and beautiful music. wonderful!

  • Thank you.

  • I've tried to make a few uke videos while in snowshoes, but never got half as far into a piece. Well done.

  • Thanks for watching.

  • Thanks for transporting me away for a minute. I've always loved your 'on location' videos.

  • Thanks Deach. Good to hear from you again.

  • frozen finger chunking! I've also heard that when it's this cold, one option is to just keep drinking until you are in tune...

  • Haha. Very true.

  • It looks so cold to me too. Again, your playing is so great. I love it.

  • Thank you.

  • Lovely, c'est très beau!

  • Merci.

  • On my third viewing! I enjoyed the mood of this (video plus audio) a lot. You're such a fine player, no matter if your fingers are frozen.

  • Thanks very much for watching.

  • Nice one Ken. Beautiful scenery too. And I think the kiwaya kept in tune pretty well - i've been trying to play outside here in the winter, but the ukes go out of tune at once...

  • I don't know. It start to go out of tune after just a few notes. But it certainly isn't as cold as where you live.

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele Well, the spring might be on the way - we have been just above freezing point here the last few days (still way below at night though...).

  • But maybe the cold makes the sound travel better. Sure sounds good.

  • The tranquility certainly helps the recording, Doug.

  • Ken - If your fingers get too cold playing in North Wales, just come play for us in Southern California. It was 78 degrees Fahrenheit (about 25.55 degrees Celsius) today. Nice playing, Ken.

  • Should be there again for the Wine Country Fest in September.

  • Heh, heh. That happens to me even when I don't have the cold for an excuse!

I do have to take exception with your calling that a beach, though. Seashore, yes, beach, eh, not so much. LOL

Great job as always though Ken.

  • Thanks very much for watching.

  • Nicely played - a very restful video. My compliments to your camera crew!

  • Thanks very much.

  • Cool scenory and nice tune.

What uke is that if you don't mind me asking sounds good.

  • A Kiwaya KTS-4.

  • Cymru am byth.

Very nice playing. Shame it got to cold for your fingers :)

  • It was a wonderful day though, Ade.

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele

I live in South Wales. We have wonderful coast lines and countryside. I've grown up with it, and take it for granted.

  • aww- I was just waiting for the camera to carry on panning round to the crowd watching behind you ...

excellent Ken. Fingerless gloves could be the way to go !!

  • Lovely, Ken!

  • Thanks very much.

  • Yes, it was a sunny day and great for a walk (not for uke playing).

  • Beautiful place to play, but definitely too cold for me ^_^ Thanks for taking the time to give us a nice soundtrack to the nice scenery, Ken.

  • We will have to try and find somewhere interesting to film a video in Frankfurt, Sebi.

  • very cool!

  • Thanks.

  • Great stuff ken, my hands get so cold a lot of the time that i can have trouble playing indoors let alone out and about.. You done good :)

  • My hands get cold more often than they used to. In my case it's old age approaching.

  • Wonderful everything!

  • Thank you.

  • It's nice to visit water when here is a hint of spring. It looks pretty. Thanks for the view as well as the music!

  • My wife and I had a wonderful walk.

  • Ken ,I did not believe you about the fingers seizing-until the end. I laughed heartily.

    Thanks for that :)

  • Several other things I recorded were even shorter.

  • Excellent ! A beach is always a perfect location for playing the uke.

  • I agree. Perfect, except for the wind-noise, bitter cold, sound of the pebbles, etc.

  • I really like those outdoor videos! Very courageous, Ken, for a great result!

  • Thanks very much.

  • Very rafraichissant !

    Bravo.

  • Merci. Il m'a réconforté.

  • brrrrrilliant

  • Haha. Thanks K.

  • That's a beautiful soul right there playin a beautiful old tune in a beautiful landscape...freakin brrr!

  • Thank you for your lovely comment.

  • And this was the "best" of the recordings I did. All the others didn't even start well.

  • painfullly beautiful...i was playing on the banks of the mississippi river the other day...similar sorta weather...

  • I'd forgotten my gloves and I just couldn't keep my hands warm for long enough to play an entire piece. Sprinbgf has definitely sprung here though. Last couple of days you only needed a shirt (and maybe trousers).

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele and maybe trousers????? haha boy howdy that'd be a great video!! Maybe we could start a new uke group and call it like "TUTO" Total Ukuleles, Trousers Optional!!! haha

  • Idea for next ukulele R&D - heater in fretboard. Call it the Liverpool-Plank. Comes with chromatic tuner.

  • Now there's a thought, Joseph.

  • This was great! What a trooper you are playing in adverse conditions and making it look so easy!! You are truly my uke hero sir!

  • My wife and I had a fabulous walk too, Pete.

  • So awesome!

  • Thanks Ricky.

  • Wow, I love everything about this - very cool video Ken! :)

  • Hi Lisa. Thanks very much.

  • That was simply great. I love it when you do outdoor recordings. And you do look cold.

  • Does it ever get really cold where you live, Dylan?

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele It's hot and humid all the time. The coolest it'll get is around 24 C and that's early morning on a cold day. It gets really hot around 33 C although it has reached 38 C ... very very rarely.

  • Wow. I bet that is uncomfortable. That sort of temperature with a very high humidity can be dangerous..

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele It can be uncomfortable a lot of times. Dangerous? Well, got used to the heat. I'm more concerned about how warping wood. I don't bring out my uke very often and if I have to I normally would take the cheap laminated ones. They are made of hardier stuff.

  • Your music keeps very nice in the cold Ken

  • Haha. I recorded several things, but they all fell apart, Brad.

  • So relaxing, really nice mate :)

  • Thanks very much.

  • Looks like our beaches here in the Pacific NW US.

    Beautiful stuff my friend.

  • It is a nice beach, Coyote. Even in the high Summer there are not many people. Dangerous though: strong tides and sinking sands.

  • great video. nothing like a nice day out on the beach. even if it is freezing

  • The sun was shining and we had a nice walk, but it was just too cold for playing the uke.

  • GREATTTTTTT what a simple and neat video.... :o)

  • Thanks.

  • Ken that was a great background. You will have to do a longer video when it warms up if that ever happens this global cooling has been really messing my surfing n beach days up also. :-)

  • I did do one other video on this beach, JC. It is called "My Sweet".
