  • i tried this, following the instructions, and ended up wasting a lot of fabric. :'( the trapezoid ended up too small to fit around my hips. And i discovered that when I try to wrap it around myself, it doesn't end up looking like an A-line skirt like i expected it to.

  • If only I knew how to sew!

  • love this tut and you, of course! <3

at 2:49 when you sew the rectangle, do you just sew the edges of the knit or do you sew the tulle and the lace together as well?

One problem: i've not got a sewing machine - can anyone recommend me one? And please bare in mind i've got a budget :) - i want a machine that's good but won't burn my wallet at the same time - if that's possible? Thanks :)

    xoxo,

    - Aarti.

  • That's really good !!!

  • o_O

Your tutorials are really good !

This might be a stretch but do you know how to make a blazer?

  • I love this ^^ next christmas prom Im just wearing jeans, tshirt and a hoodie, but the at the last prom imma sew this :3 Imma try it out first, then sew a new one for my last prom <3

  • do you have to use lace? are there any other substitutes? i'm just asking because i don't really like lace that much but it's a really cute dress and i want to try it out. you have some really cool ideas- i wish i was that creative =)

  • you make it look easy ^^

    nice work ...

  • i might just try making this for my grad dress( : more original and special than buying one that everyone has similar to..

  • After watching this like a thousand times, I'm finally starting to understand it. But there's still some parts I don't understand that well? Can someone help me with the beginning steps with the rectangle and also when it says "Be sure the small end of the skirt matches the bodice length." I'm a beginner but I'd still like to try this, please help!

  • where do you find your background music

  • love this clip.

  • LOVE 0:04. (:

    very beautiful. :D

  • I'm stupid .. I didn't understand how to do :/

  • this dress is great and so are the others keep up the great work never give up bye;]

  • wow !

    good job!!!

  • really cute dress

  • how do u put tulle under the dress to make it puffed out. is it the same way you put it on in this video?

  • Definitely making one for my friend's birthday! Thanks for the tutorial!!!

  • Facinating....

  • I don't know about anyone else but I had a formal prom and this dress would not have gone over well because it looks a little to casual for me. But for just a dress I think it is gorgeous.

  • that's so awesome i love it :) i need to keep watching it over n over in order to get one of the process down cus i kinda got confused

  • i need help where should i what place should i measure?

sorry for my english ; D

  • i need help where should i what place should i measure?

  • cute! making this for prom! :)

  • how long is the trapezoid suppose to be?? lke where do u start measuring?

  • @ohheyitsmerissa I was wondering where the measuring instructions were too.. =/

  • @ohheyitsmerissa For how long you want the trapezoid to be you should measure from your waist down to where you want the dress to end on your legs. If you wanted to make it empire line then measure just below your bust to where you want the dress to end. :) hope this wasn't confusing :/

  • can you redo this dress with clearer instructions and video quality?

  • how can you make it longer

  • Love this so much and am planning to make it but i am totally confused! is the part that goes around your bust folded over for the whole thing?Plus what do you mean when you say dont catch the layers when you were sewing them together?

    XxXxX

  • @MyDancer97 She means don't catch any of the layers on that part because you needed to be able to turn everything from the "burrito" inside-out and THEN sew the layers together when you fold the rectangle in half..

I got a bit confused at first, but when you watch the vid a few more times you'll understand.

  • This will be a great dress for my homecoming next school year(:

  • did u also fold the lace?? and when u pull out everything do u pull it to the right side (left , right) or to the right side ( right, wrong) of the dress?? pls answer i really really want to do this dress

  • @weirdofreak02 Its your choice if you fold the lace or not. It depends if you want the lace to look thick or if you just want a sheer piece of lace. When she pulled everything out at the end she pulled it out to the right side (right , wrong). Hope this wasn't too confusing!

  • this is sooo cute and i wanna make it! i have everything! but it's soo confusing T_T

  • waiitttt how do you measure yourself and the fabric D: Omgg i had that problem when i made my link outfit...

  • how did you do your hair? too cute!

  • Now, if only i had a sewing machine.....

  • How much did the whole thing cost to make? I absolutely love it!

  • I wan't to make this dress to new year!

    - and .. make the romper to summer, i love short shorts!:D

  • That dress is ADORABLE. Im probably gunna hate my prom, but im going. =/.... I'm making my own dress too and was looking for ideas of types of prom dresses that might be cute. You're very good at explaining things.<3

  • is there a specific type of tulle to use for a dress? like is it the same type used for decorations? n is it polyester or nylon??

  • at the end at the side to you sew the net with the tool at the side

  • i dont understand how u cut out the first piece, the long one. should the first 2 pieces be a rectangle or a trapazoid?

  • what do i do if i don't want the bodice part?

  • I defiantly wanna make this dress. But I'm still a noob at sewing. Once i get better at sewing i will make this dress :D

  • beautiful dress i love what you sew.!!!

    What machine do you use???

  • When you're sewing the last part (the side) do you just sew the jersey together or include the lace and tulle?

  • @Runtograce you include the lace && tulle or else it would fall out :)

  • I am definitely using this idea for homecoming! This is just a very cute dress. Thanks so much for this tutorial! I would wear this to any semi formal occasion, clubbing, or just on a date! It's so versitile. I'm not sure I would wear it to prom. It's the length that gets me. Still a great tutorial. And so simple too!

  • K.L: I'm a new subscriber and all I can say is... WOW!! I'll definitely be stopping by from now on.

    Hi from Spain.

  • I'm totally going to make a skirt version of this! The tube top look doesn't work for me since I'm too big-busted to wear a strapless (unless it's a corset...*lol*) but I LOVE the look of the gray with lace and tulle! Absolutely gorgeous.

  • I have a few questions... how long were the dimensions of your trapezoid and what did you use for a closure? I just tried to make this today and the first trapezoid I cut didn't fit my body. Do I need to make the shirt differently since I have a huge ass? lol :p

  • luv this vdeo it is sooo understandable thx alot XD

  • OMG I LVOE IT i'm going to make it for my friend's debut party except i'll add a shoulder strap too it :P This is awesome!! THANK YOU this is the best one i've seennn

  • so cute and pretty:) thx for upload::))

  • i tried making a dress just like urs but i failed. i made it too small bc i measured it wrong. so i made some changes, i used a lavender knit and i added a bow to hid my sewing flaw, haha. (: its so pur-tey :DD

  • how do you make a closure for it? do you just add a hidden zipper on the bodice piece?

  • thank you! i've been looking for a good dress tutorial. i'm going to use this for everything~ my halloween costume, a going out dress.i can't wait to to go the fabric store/goodwill!!

  • Adorable and I tried to make it, but it would only fit on one of my legs. I'm almost the same stature as you. I'm short and skinny. 92 lbs, but I don't know what happened.

  • OMG this is so cute

  • Thank You So Much For This , :D Its Perfect For Me Because i Have A Very Important Project At School Where i Have To Make A Dress , & This Is Really Good , & Easy , :D Thank Youuuu , {:

  • I recently purchased a sewing machine (I got it like, two days ago XD) and have been looking for tutorials for beginners. This one is sooo cute! I'm definitely subscribing and trying out your tuts :) Do you have any recommendations for things to sew at an extreme beginner's level? Thanks!

  • You make it look soo easy xP

  • wow this is soo pretty. if i make this i want it to be a full skirt, and i want to add a neck piece and sleeves. wud u add the lace over the neck part and sleeves the same as the skirt part, except without the tulle?

  • can u do a hair tutorial of how u did ur hair in the picture @ the beginning of the video? & if u get to record videos that r longer than 10 minutes[partnership w/ yt] than can u do it like REALLY step by step? i can't do anything.. but once i learn from my mom or something i can actually start..

  • i madee it! it didnt come out perfect but i was proud. it was rele cute thoo

  • Hey , nothing to do with this but , Im going to be making a video of my outfits and everything and maybe you should take my (and other peoples) idea of this and make it better or into your own style . I will send you a message staiting when im making it .

  • this is beautiful! i agreee with kristiebam...! i too have forgotten the basics!! will wait for the tutorial!! thanks and good luck ^__^

  • You should sell this online! I really wanna buy one.

  • Cute dress!

  • WTF is a trapezoid?!! I'm English.. is this an American word?

  • @pepsifunk A trapezoid is a shape where the bottom line is longer then the top and the sides angle out to meet the bottom. If you google it you can find lots of picture examples. Hope that helps :)

  • @pepsifunk o wow. its a shape. its like a triangle with a flat top instead of a pointy one. i guess its an american shape :)

  • luv the dress sooo much envy ur skill in sewing :)

  • Can you hand sew it ???

  • this dress is really cute..<3

  • i really love this dress..

but i was wondering if you could maybe make a tutorial on how to make a clutch.. i have now idea how to make a stiff, nice evening clutch that would go with this dress. any ideas?

  • Hey i would like to do this dress for a semi formal thing at School but i want a ruffled skirt thing for the bottom part.. could i find a way to do the bottom and use the same methode you used there for itt ?

  • Could i use like a ruffled skirt pattern and use the same methode to make it in a dress with a knit top part ?... ( if that made any sence :P )

  • itso so kawii lol

  • Did you move all your old tutorials to another channel, or are they gone FOREVER. :o

  • @Mmetromanda is she had moved them she would of told us plus she told us she's remaking them

  • Wow, you make this look SO easy. I can't wait to try this out!

  • can you make another dress... for prom... mine is going to be in may 15. i want to look punk rock but still keep it classy... help...

  • what means the word "bodice"?

i can't find it in the dictionary ¨σ

  • @TinkerbellSorrow it means the breast area =)

  • ok thank you:D

  • this is adorable...I would use longer fabric and make it touch the floor, cuz prom dresses tend to be more long. Cute though!!

  • @tilena211 most definitely! use a bit more tulle though. My prom dress was long and I hated that thing, i wished I would've gotten the gnads to go with a shorter one.

  • Your very talented !! Can you do a beginners video? For newbies?

  • @tilena211 but prom dresses are short not long now the longer style would be nice for homecoming

  • I luv ur vids! Cant wait till the new vids come and when u put the old ones but up.

  • amazing i wish i could do this!!!

  • sooo cute.(:

  • after you baste stitch do you remove the stitch?
