Remember that some metal bands will have these, some thrash has chugging riffs, some brutal DM has breakdowns etc. But you wanna know what does have those qualities? Hardcore.

Some bands like say Parkway Drive or Hatebreed have more Core in them with shouted/harsh vocals with more emphasis on the chugging riffs and breakdowns. other bands like Darkest Hour or Shadows Fall have some qualities of Hardcore but in terms of riffing, guitar sound, time signature, groove or solos there have much more Melo Death or Thrash in them. Thrash was influenced hardcore as well

However, the US happens to have most of the thrash and death metal i listen to.

Unfortunately the US, IMO, is all about hip-hop/r&b/pop/butt rock these days. No love for the metalz, the true metalz.
