  • that is fuckin awesome

  • ALLL OHH WEHHHMEEE!!!! Fat revolution in 2012! And i mean FAT! MILLIONS WITH GUNS!

  • Persian Marxist why are iranians so obsessed with power?

  • interesting video....... hmmm......

maybe obama can send some troops to "save them "......

  • You American pigs should be ashamed of yourself, destroying societies just for Oil.

And if you guys think recent protests will bring you another Western-oriented puppet government? YOUR WRONG. The Iranian people are fed up with BOTH Islamic opression, and Western opression.

One day Iran will AGAIN have a Democratic nationalist government, which uses our recources for the people, like during Mossadeq. And lets hope you Anglo-American bastards don't interfere,

    Hands off Iran! No Mullah!

  • @PersianMarxist How can you blame the american people as a whole, when its the government, not us.

  • I lost 4 family members in the Revolution that overthrew America's puppet dictator(Shah), who Anglo-American imperialists installed after destroying our Democracy and removing our Democraticly elected Prime Minister(Mossadeq).

The bastard Islamic fascists which took control after the Revolution killed and tortured many of my friends.

  • Even in a brutal dictatorship here in Iran the Iranian people still manage to unite in solidarity and voice their dissent...despite great danger to themselves and their family.

America is a nation of cowards, you guys didn't do shit when that donkey Bush stole the election in 2000, and got re-elected in 04.

And remember the U.S is supposedly a "Democracy" were you won't be executed for dissent, unlike Iran.

  • Green movement must stay alive. It's leaders Mr. Moosavi, Karoobi, Khatami must be supported during these difficult times. Without them, it will be much harder to get to freedom.

  • twitter?

  • I know it sounds silly, but as an American and conservative, I have always been very interesed in the big Persian nation and would like to know more. I guess I remember the hostage thing in 1979 (I was little tiny kid), and I remember that was the first I had heard of Iran.

  • keep making your voices heard... the whole world is listening.. never lose the faith... God is great and he will deliver these good iranian people !

  • everybody? the language is spelled FARSI. F-A-R-S-I. if you can't spell that, just say "persian", like the kitty-cat...same language, give or take, and indicates that you know they aren't speaking arabic...though, actually most iranians do speak at least some arabic...but whatever

  • Yes Farsi your right.

  • Tell us a bit about Iran history, I would be interested to know. I know about their army of elephants centuries ago, and how they beat everyone but Muslim armies found a way around the elephants and took over and forced the Persian nation into Islam. What was the religion before that? Is it true that the great Persian rugs are made in Tehran? Was Iraq, Iran and Kuwait all one nation called "Persia"? Tell us something about the history...

    Thanks...

  • Twitter is saving a revolution. Dear God.

Hell is freezing over right now, you guys.

  • yes you can their are alot of people shouting

plus who the fuck would pipe that in?

  • Iran is essensially old Persia. They were not Muslims at first. They had the greatest army in the world, an army of Elephants and nobody could beat them in war. Then, the Muslim armies found a way around the Elepahant armies, captured and enslaved Iran, and forced them into Islam. Thats what I heard anyway...is it true?

Iranians do not speak Arabian, they speak Farcy. Cenk is from Turkey, how does he know Farcy?

  • dude. Are you a troll? Did you just totally misspell Farsi?

  • It's farcy

  • Farsi.

Anyway, does he speak it? I thought he was given the translation?

  • farcy!!!!

  • Awesome video. Power to the people of Iran!

  • Ill tell you one thing the Ayatolla cannot stop...and that is American hackers. We can just keep getting around their defenses and twitter plus YouTube will keep airing the people in Iran.

  • Oh stop. Everybody is for the Iranian people...left, right, center, it doesnt matter. Your being a consperiacy theorist. How can you not watch this and not be affected, hearing those souls cry out? Are you even human?

  • Wow. That is absolutely impressive.

  • Don't worry about Mecca. Muslims wreck their own countries all on their own. They all hate each other. Sunni's hate Shiites everybody over there hates the Palestinians. Saudi's hate Iranians, etc.

  • Just like the European (christian) countries used to hate each other. A renaissance and a few wars later, they all get along now.

  • NUKE MECCA!!!

  • watch?v=uDleaY8wrOE

  • now this is awosome, imagen if the USA did that after bush wone the second time.

  • Actually, president Obama watches TYT. Aswell as about 55 000 people. I think you're quite wrong.

  • Actually Cenk is the only reason I watch TYT. I am a conservative and disagree with Cenk about 80% of the time, but he is entertaining and usually logical.

  • Trully, what happen to Iran now is the begining of the all tribulations of the iranian people for the next 5 years in civil war between the govt, the youing people and the milicia of the supreme leaders. things going faster than we never expected. The prophecy started already and now we are at the end. iranian people, get up and stand 24/day for your right!! The Mighty God, my God, your God is with you all to fight this Satanic islamic government! VIVE IRAN GREEN!!

  • I wise man might ask: If god is with you then how can anyone stand against you.

  • CNN is the only decent news outlet these days, they at least try to play it down the middle. Fox is getting better, you have some anchors (Shep Smith, Chris Wallace) playing it more fair, and Beck (I know, he's a clown) who hates BOTH parties...he is right! MSNBC is hopelessly bent ot the left, I see NO redeaming features with that network.

  • Yeah Shep Smith is the only person I can stand from FOX.

MSNBC isn't always on the left. Howard Dean, a doctor who promotes universalized healthcare, was critiqued by one of the anchors. It should be on the TYT channel from yesterday.

  • Well once in a while MSNBC will suprise us, but it is a very rare event.

  • Chris wallace on Fox as well. Remember when he attacked the morning Fox "zoo crew" as I call them, for attacking Obama for 2 hours? It's on YouTube...type in "Chris Wallace takes Fox & Freinds to task over Obama"...and enjoy.

Wonder why Cenk never did a story on that? Anyway, as a conservative (not a neocon), I have no love for Fox news. But they are a damn sight more "fair" than MSNBC could ever hope to be.

  • And sorry for what we did in 1953...we were wrong, and we know it.

  • This is an amazing scene...the rooftop part. It is also chilling and is a very powerful video for us in the world to see. I am American non-Muslim conservative white, and I like Iran and know it's history (some of it). I want to say that Twitter and YouTube (which is American made, teams up with brave people in Iran (Iranian made lol), to bring us this incredible video. America + Iran!

Listen people in Iran...all of us in the USA are moved...and we all back you! DONT QUIT! WE ARE WITH YOU!

  • "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

  • hahahaha i was thinking that same thing! i was like "holy shit it's that scene from "network"! in real life!" haha kick ass!

  • I'm an atheist and even I found that video of Iranians shouting incredibly powerful. Hopefully democracy will prevail.

  • The revolution will not be televised...It will be uploaded and tweeted!! Godspeed to the Iranians fighting for Justice and against tyranny.

  • all those people yelling out... surely god will do something now!

    unlesss...

  • this is amazing!

  • CNN is officially no longer a news source, they are an advertisement for social networking sites. If I have to hear Rick Sanchez tell ME to report the news one more time, I'm going to fucking flip out.

  • Overall CNN is as much a corporate garbage heap as Fox News.

(The only exception is "Fareed Zakaria GPS" on CNN, which is a great show.)

  • That sound powerful!~

  • the media in the united states fails to cover some of the most important things. luckily i get the bbc, as flawed as they are, it shows courage for them to report what is happening around the world. cnn needs to take a queue from them, and start doing their fucking job.

  • The iranian revolutionary guard has no problem setting out to the streets and using machine gun fire to settle this, the problem with this revolution is the side that has all the firepower has absolutely no hesitation to commit mass murder to achieve their ends

  • I'm worried for those Iranian people.

That they'll end up like Tienamen Sq.

No news seems to be mentioning this possibility.

  • Surprisingly, Tony Harris on CNN asked if this could end up as another Tienamen.

  • We should take notes.

  • The funny thing is people were getting all worked up when CNN was blocked. What on earth would be important on CNN? lol

  • it is not by schance that people inherited the spirit of the big Persian Empire, would not bare these kind of behaviour from their leaders. The sons and daughters of Xerxes will fight for their freedoms!

  • God, I wish you people had as much as an uproar when Bush stole the presidency.

  • you realize America only believes in peaceful protest right...which doesnt do shit. see most countries fear the people. which they should, in America the rich laugh at these peace talks and sit ins.

go to Europe or iran and they destroy the shit out of stuff

  • the only true revolution comes when people without guns stand up to those who do.

i forget who said that but civil disobedience does work i.e. Civil rights marches in the 1960's or Ghandi's movement are two good examples

  • It's much different in the middle east though man...Especially now. Ahmadinejad probably believes he is duty bound to steal this election by God. The opposite side believes they are duty bound by God to challenge the corrupt gov't. God, in all religions, causes a situation that could be handled peacefully to turn dangerously violent very quick. Religion in this sense is a sickness.

  • Ahmadinejad stole the election because he wanted to, not because of what God said. Evil people use religion to justify there sick actions. Religion is not a sickness but using it for evil means is.

  • Peaceful protest got us the Civil Rights act.

  • @MuscleCatClothing they were too busy with their cellphones, internet and lexus and tales from the crypt

  • Let's assume for a minute here that Iran's elections are rigged. Why should the U.S. become so invested or even bother to comment on the affairs of another state such as Iran when we can't even get our own voting irregularities and corrupt government correct? It's hypocritical for one. Secondly, the only way this "revolution" in Iran will truly succeed is if the U.S. government allows Iran handle their own voting improprieties. If the U.S. gets involed, this thing will go bust quickly.

  • This is hilarious. Twitter?!!

Ha ha. People will be writing about twitter in history books and how it brought about the Iranian Revolution. LOL.

  • They need to f**k that b*t*h up!

  • This would have been so cool if it turned into a sing along-rap-like beat box session.

  • this is so bad ass so proud of these people to stand up like that so loud! amazing

  • Allah Ackbar!!

  • glasshour76= moron.

  • Do you know why the American MSM has failed to cover this story? Because, as much as the establishment wants to get rid if Ahmadinejad - they do not want the American public to get ANY ideas about protesting for their rights or starting a Revolution. Thank all things wonderful for twitter and youtube! Next up: HUMAN REVOLUTION

  • CNN didn't cover Iran? I know the Daily Show has a correspondent there, but not CNN? I think that's profound.

  • They did, but remember, Iran made foreign reporters covering the protests illegal. Go to the CNN website; there's actually a lot of information there.

  • Did you know that there is a plan to make you pay for twitter?

    escapistmagazine. com /news /view /91972

    (delete spaces)

So "they" want to control that too...

  • May the truth come out. May Iran receive true freedom.

  • thats soooo epic! twitter of all things actually made some form of difference? whoda thunk it?

  • wow that video was amazing

  • Thank you for reporting.

  • Keep fighting everyone!!! We're pulling for you here in the states!

  • I expect more from CNN. Is this also true of CNN International?

Not surprised by the BBC which covers actual news and not the latest celebrity stupidity as American "news" channels seem to prefer.

  • To be fair, BBC has much more experience, and I don't think CNN has an office in Iran, at least not as big. CNN though is still cowardly though, like most Americans, the BBC is also well-known for getting the facts right, no matter what.

  • Great!

  • i have always said that the home computor/internet is the most powerful weapon in the hands of ordinary people!

  • whats with the goosebumps? i got them too just from the voices.

  • me too...

  • Incredible video. Man the televised media is really infantile.

  • We don't have a liberal media or a conservative media, we have a lazy media.

I got goosebumps seeing this video.

  • I got goosebumps too. It's emotional to see a people's real struggle for freedom.

  • WOW, that is powerful stuff.

I'm not sure what scares me more, the fact that the leaders of Iran are trying to control what their media shows

Or the fact that our media doesn't show what is really happening in Iran.

Commentators keep saying the internet is helping set the Iranian people free, I hope one day we can say the same about the united states.

  • blingbling65943 it truly is scary.. odd that a evil government would stop the world from knowing what the hell was going on in this country(bit like Zimbabwe) but it's even more disterbing that the US news shows are not showing it!you would have thought they would have been all over this story by now eh?

  • I got goosebumps!! So many voices, so very powerful.

  • Thanks YoungTurks. You are echoing Iraninan people's voice. Our election was stolen from us and we have lost the slimmest hope for a free country :( Please back the Iranian people and dont leave them alone. We DONOT want Ahmadinejad. We want change just like you did back in December.

    PEACE

  • I think that clip of the rooftop protesters is very powerful and potent, and I really do hope that things turn out better for the Iranians.

  • The revolution will not be televised.

    However, it WILL be tweeted.

  • woop, go BBC

  • The BBC rules! Honestly American news is APPAULING....

  • I wouldn't be so sure about the awesomeness of the BBC if I were you. I have found the independent media to be far superior to both state and corporate media, and the state corporate media. I, personally, would, by far, advocate Democracy Now! and The Real News Network above the BBC any day of the week.

It is, however, true to say that the media outside of the United States is, on international issues, much more respectable than the media in the United States, which, I agree, is appalling.

  • I agree. I'm generally cautious of what I hear from BBC, but a lot of what they do is pretty good. FAR better than what we do here.

  • On no i know they are more than fallable, its just that they are A) not afraid of slating the government B) Still understand the concept of "investigative reporting" and C) Have never let Bill O'Rielly on any of their shows, let alone host one.

By many standards the BBC piss on the American media, is all i was really getting at :D

  • I agree entirely. The BBC trumps even the international coverage proffered by CNN, but that fact merely goesto show how bad the corporate press is in the U.S. rather than of how good the BBC is.

  • There is most certainly truth in your words. Thank god for the internet though...it shall be our saviour...hopefully...

  • If Ted Koppel was still reporting or Tim Russert was still alive we would still have a decent media.

Media today is garbage and nothing but a bunch of partisan hacks.

  • Amazing!

  • Hey Mr Young Turk,

CNN SUCKS!!! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MAKING MONEY, not to tell the truth about the world.

  • I'd say the same about any televised American news network. (CNN, Fox, MSNBC)

  • Fox is a joke.

  • The interesting thing about Fox News is the fact that it appears to be cause greater harm to its own cause than anything or anybody else could. I suspect -- and this is only conjecture -- that you could divide the Fox News audience in two: 1) On the one hand, you'd have the lowest common denominator; those who really believe it and 2) the intelligent viewer who doesn't take it seriously and so instead watches to pick holes in it.

  • They are doing an OK job but I get updates details from Huffingtonpost and they get some of their updates from readers with relatives in the city and other sources that you don't think you'll ever find.

  • My sister loves getting gangfucked

  • I disagree. I have been watching CNN over the last several days, during and after the elections. Christine Amanpour is in Tehran has given several accounts of what has been happening there, despite the difficulties in transmitting her reports..

  • fucking religious fanatics. put em all on a small island together

  • The religous fanatics already are together ... its called the USA. ;)

  • yeah, but this island should be isolated from the rest of the world. instead they play world police!

  • Cenk, news media is a business. CNN is going to show their American viewers what they want to see.

Most American viewers are not interested in what is going on in Iran. Most Americans would rather hear updates on how Paris Hilton is doing, instead of what is happening in Iran.

American media outlets not covering important issues doesn't surprise me at all.

  • Seriously the more I (a non-American) contrast Obama and Bush against one another the more I question how the fuck did bush get selected for a second term. I would hate to see Bush's remarks about the Iranian election cause I know he would deliver another trademark fail. Obama did the smartest thing he could in this situation and that was to butt out. The last thing that this crisis needed was US intereference. I still dont know how he is goin to do for the full term but it looks promising.

  • Cenk needs to do a an amazingatheist style ownage video on the youtuber howtheworldworks.

If you agree, thumb this comment up.

  • This reminds me of that scene from the movie Network.

"All I know is that first, you've got to get mad. You've gotta say, 'I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!' So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!!'"

    You know the scene!

  • The last time Iranians shouted "Allahu Akbar!" from their rooftops, it was c. 1978, in protests against the Shah. He fell the following year. The clerics better be quaking in their boots right about now!

  • Hey what are u talking about Cenk???

Hannity was covering the revolution ALL NIGHT!!

So was O'Reilly! He sent a reporter there !

  • The BBC's doing an excellent job.

  • The Big Mullah in Iran has his cyber-goons hunting down Iranian Twitterers. We need to throw out some decoys to save some lives and keep lines of communication open. If you have a Twitter Account, log in and set your location to Tehran, Iran, and your local time to GMT +3:30. This might buy some time for the Reformists.

  • It turns out that all incorrect votes in the Iranian election came from one state where Ahmadinejad got 100 percent of the votes, it is the the biggest state in Iran.... The name of the state is Floridani ,,, they say there was something wrong with the ballots

    ;-)

  • This is CIA regime change. Twitter also was used in Moldova riots, which had NOT results, and only chaos in Kishinev.

The same with Tehran. Don't beleive in US propoganda.

  • One should not also forget that this the same Mousavi who was directly involved in the Iran-Contra affair: He's not a saint; this revolt is not a revolution but internal jockeying between two powerful (i.e. Khamenai Vs Rafshanjani) factions.

  • Britain's media is far more factual, open-minded and informative compared to the evangelical, political driven ramblings of the American news

  • Agree.

  • BBC is the best news source on TV, by far.

  • Actually, British news generally lacks bias be it left or right.

In Britain we pretty much think it's hilarious and shocking that organizations like FOX, that just LIE, blatantly are allowed to continuously report their lies.

It's sad, but it's also a little funny how people like you are brainwashed.

  • LMAO if you believe that fox news has 1 percent of legitimacy then you have been bamboozled you fool. Fox news has spewn forth lie after lie and people still believe in its far right bullshit. You sir should look at the facts, then at fox news, they certainly do NOT correlate.

  • Tool.

  • then why does the American right say the American Media is in the hands of liberals? ;)

  • Only President Sarah Palin can bring TRUE revolution to Iran for she WILL UNLEASH the WRATH OF GOD HERSELF onto the Islamic Government and make Achmedinejad and the Ayatollah her DICKLESS and BALLESS BITCHES and PUSSIES! Palin will take away their power and DESTROY THEIR CREDIBILITY and WIPE them and the ENTIRE MUSLIM GOVERNMENT OUT! She will help install a new government RUN ENTIRELY BY WOMEN and they will ABOLISH the HIJAB PERMANENTLY! Iran will do very well with a US style democracy.

  • 2. in this proposal the leader will give all responsibilities to ahmadinejad and drop a lower ranked responsible, the leader will remain the hero and Mousavi or Karubi will become president for a short time. From the other side the reformist groups will be set on opposite side to create conflict between themselves and after a while the president will be overthrown and an official coup will take place.

Please pass this message on to avoid the enemy to trick us

  • 1. Accepting a new election, re counting of votes gives the government two weeks to become ready and prepared for arresting political activists because Khatami and Mousavi give thought of victory and recounting of votes to people and lead them to their homes and daily lives. Meanwhile not only reformists get arrested, but the government becomes ready for a strong war with people

  • bbc world has much better news than cnn

  • Man, This clip gave me goosebumps. Good for the Iranian people. We all should learn from them.

  • Shame Youtube is slowing being consumed by corporatism as we speak. Google is already working with the Chinese govt. to censor their content, if Iran starts paying up they'll do the same there I'm sure.

  • I think that revolution in Iran is going to be a disaster. A velvet revolution would be great but Iran is not ready for that. Better wait 10 maybe 20 years, and then when the time is right then go go go!

At the moment the fundamentalistic forces are way to strong.

Also I´m not convinced that the elections were rigged.

  • I don't know if they were rigged, but my guess is they at least padded Ahmadinejad to be safe. That said I agree Iran today isn't quite ready. But I think they could be ready sooner than we think. 4, maybe 6 years from now..

That is unless we start bombing them, which will inevitably galvanize them behind their own government.

  • I just got to receive an email from my relative in Iran. Having Mousavi as president is far from what Iranians must aim for. In the email (which had been published in the streets in Tehran) they explained that how Khamenei is planning for a proper military coup after recounting votes. Beware people!

  • Here's what says:

    - The office of Khamenei has been surprised with protest of people, this shows signs of danger that this protest will go forward to victory and removal of leadership

To avoid this problem Shari'at Madari and Yazdi gave two proposals for the leader:

  • BBC doing a great job

and apparently so is the Daily Show

  • guess what... the only people who voted for Mousavi are in the cities, most of Iran's population does not live in cities... it is entirely possible that Ahmadinejad actually did win this election... furthermore, it doesn't matter

  • In a 2000 report, 60% of Iran's population lived in urban areas. That number would've only grown to this time. So that means like 30% of the urban population decided to vote for Ahmadinejad? That's what it would've taken for Ahmadinejad to score a 66% victory.

Dude, at best it probably was a "close" election. And Ahmadinejad just decided to call the results as he liked it.

  • So mind telling me how they hand counted 40 million written ballets within a few hours in order to declare a winner? Because no one in the world can do that. Also mind telling us how Imanutjob won in area's favoured by his political opponents? Like the young who overwhelmingly supported Mousavi, out Karroubi's own ethnic group voting against him, which is like blacks voting against Obama in 2008. Do these protests look like Ahmaddinejad won? I think not

  • btw, at least 65% of Iran's population live in Urban area's, so that isn't true. His base of support comes from rural areas but it can't win him elections alone.

  • charr05 - have you even been WATCHING the news? Ahmedinajad allegedly "won" EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS OPPONENTS HOME TOWNS - that is essentially IMPOSSIBLE - go check out fivethirtyeight (dot) com - run by a statistician, hit the US elections on the nose, shows it is impossible, especially comparing the election 4 years ago with some of the same candidates to Friday's "election".

  • YOU DON'T GET MY POINT... the elections are a farse regardless of who wins. The ayatollahs want Ahmadinejad because he is so crazy and divisive that people like YOU get distracted by him, you direct your animosity toward him, and you forget that Iran is led by an unelected authoritarian theocratic dictatorship!... I don't need to know the stats of the election when the i know the process is a joke! think about it... we need to revolt against the AYATOLLAHS... NOT AHMADINEJAD!

  • Thank god there is a person with intellectual thought. Im Iranian and what you said is completely true. The president is a puppet, nothing more. In my personal oppinion however i do think this is revolt agasint the Ayatollah in a sense. Ahmadinejad is the crazed conservative that is in essance a representation of the Mullahs of Iran. A vote for Mousavi is a vote against the Ayatollah. Im severely doubtful a revolution will occur but its a spark. A small nudge forward.

  • Television News is now just one big EPIC FAIL which is now PWNED by the internet!

  • woah! thats a lot of people. there's no way in hell the officials are gonna risk revolution, there will be a recount.

  • This revolt is more of game of chess between Khamenai and Rafshanjani rather then Bastile-style revolt against theocracy.

  • yea pretty much.

Though im down for some storming of the bastille shit in iran.

  • I think you're right, a theocracy has a powerful psychological grip on people; I think it's really hard to loosen oneself from its shackles. Imagine a French dude shouting out against the pope and the king in the early 1700's: he would be cut to pieces. Forward to 1792, the king is beheaded and religious authority is openly destroyed. If that is to happen in Iran, then you need some kind of a period of enlightenment before an open challenge to religious authority is to take place.

  • yes, nevermind that the french revolution was sparked by the american revolution and famine caused by the king helping us. what period of enlightenment? you sound ethnocentric to assume theyre unenlightened ,aside from the rural people but we got those too, theyre shouting for freedom in the streets and the man they voted....like we were sposed to 8 and 4 years ago, for the guy whos not insane, what fucking enlightenment is required there

  • I didn't say that it's pertinent that there be enlightenment, but of course you need some fucking enlightenment.. your government derives its power from God, hence you, as human beings, don't have a say in forming a logical constitution based on reason. These demonstrations may just peter down in the coming days, or I may be wrong, I don't know. (By the way, the famine was not caused by the financial disaster of 1789; the winter of 1788 was by then the worst in a 100 years.)

  • causing the price of bread to rise.....

  • the BBC is well established in Iran, and has been for generations. Even channel 4 in the UK did a better job on their evening news.

  • That gave me chills. Why were we so complacent when Bush stole the election? They live under threat of death for protesting, and they still do it. We live under threat of losing premium cable, and we clam the fuck up.

  • years and years of numbing ourselves with TV and mcdonalds.

  • Yeah, but the problem is that we don't know for sure whether there was any election fraud or not. It seems to me that these protests are just a show put on by Rafsanjani's supporters. It may well be revealed that the majority did vote for Ahmadinajjad but then again we don't know that for sure. It's a theocracy, after all, so it's not a real democracy.
