What he said was reasl because I know of a lot of Hindu kids who are not educated on there religon and end up converting to Chrisitianity. This happens everyday. This is the type of stuff Gossai was trying to warn us about.

I am not saying that status makes anyone any more qualified to be considered a Pandit, but if I were you, I would be a lot more careful and critical of who we call Pandits. The fact that I am critical of him is testament to the fact that I have great respect for the Hindu culture and do not wish to see it adulterated by poor replacements for Pandits who have unfortunately already passed on. Prakash sings well, but so does Anup Jalota. Why dont you go make him your Guru and worship him?

You really should not be talking about my Guru like that. He IS a pandit and a GREAT one too. He is devoted to God and has taught me so much about the Hindu religion. He is the reason I have such a wonderful God in my life.

Who are you to judge who is a true Hindu and who isn't? The fact that you are judging him by his ONLINE name is idiotic and ignorant at best. A Guru should be a spiritual leader who leads by example and who preaches, not for fame or fortune, but for the betterment of his disciples and the world. The Brahmins and Pandits of old did not charge for their services, nor did they sell CDs for personal profit. It's a joke. When choosing a Guru, consider more than just his ability to carry a note.

Yeah well Prakash doesn't charge for his services either. He takes donations but he never asks for money specifically for a service. Maybe he'll ask to fund raise for children in Guyana or for other charitable things. That's where the money he gets goes. And not only can he carry a note, but if you take the time to actually listen to one of his kathas, he has very knowledgeable things to say about Bhagwan. Just give the man a chance for God's sake.

I have no problem with the man himself, or the fact that he conducts lectures about God. But my problem is that people are too quick to call him "the greatest pandit ever" or some such shit. He's not...in fact, he's far from it. Anyone with any real life experience will have knowledgeable things to say about Bhagwan. All I'm saying is that our standards for what we consider to be a Pandit have plummeted significantly, and should be seriously reexamined...

Nice, people...all of a sudden, anyone who can sing beautifully, play the harmonium, read a few scriptures and mantras, is called "Pandit." Long discarded are the tenets of living a certain life, having a certain birthright, and...oh yes! What about doing actual puja (the full, Vedic puja, not this Havan-only-then-sing half-step). A wonderful singer and musician, he is NOT a "pandit"; regardless of what he or others may WISH he was. Nothing wrong with that, just clarifying.

A Pandit, my friend, is a scholar or learned man; and the term is also used as a title of respect.
