The youth must educate themself about there culture. not just because you are in western civiliztion one must forget there ancestry.
What he said was reasl because I know of a lot of Hindu kids who are not educated on there religon and end up converting to Chrisitianity. This happens everyday. This is the type of stuff Gossai was trying to warn us about.
Spread your culture to the perosn who posted this. Spread love.
What a person's moral is..that is for God to judge. Who will stand in Pt. Gossai's place to teach the world about religion? Everyone one want's to judge, but who is "Perfect.?" God knows best. I wil miss you Sri. Prakash Gossai. May Lord Krishna send you back to Earth to do more. We here loose what Bhajans means and it's transalation. Come back to fulfil your mission.
I am not saying that status makes anyone any more qualified to be considered a Pandit, but if I were you, I would be a lot more careful and critical of who we call Pandits. The fact that I am critical of him is testament to the fact that I have great respect for the Hindu culture and do not wish to see it adulterated by poor replacements for Pandits who have unfortunately already passed on. Prakash sings well, but so does Anup Jalota. Why dont you go make him your Guru and worship him?
In addition to my reply to Rharidas, if people are really thirsting for an object of worship, what happened to dear Bhagvan? If I am the "assinine" one of stupidity, O Intelligent Wonder of humankind, then why do YOU resort to childish insults that are not only unfounded, but warrantless? Moreover, if YOU are the supremely intelligent one entitled to judge ME, then why do YOU need Prakash to tell YOU what the scripture says? Oh, that's right! Only the "true Pandits" understand! HAHA! LUDICROUS!
doc, welcome to America, where childish insults are a way of life. Now dry your tears, grab a hold of your mother's petticoat, and stick your thumb in your mouth! You started a diatribe against Prakash, which is probably your right; and conversely, it is my right to defend a man whom I've come to admire not only as a scholar, but a decent human being! Now let go of your mamma's skirt and go cut-up the chicken.
It's a sad day when we have to be so critical of a man who is trying to teach us the path to God. Just because someone is Brahmin doesn't make them a saint. I could care less what his "status" is. I love to listen to him regardless. Grow up people.

You really should not be talking about my Guru like that. He IS a pandit and a GREAT one too. He is devoted to God and has taught me so much about the Hindu religion. He is the reason I have such a wonderful God in my life.
It's people like the ones that say Prakash isn't a pandit that corrupts the Hindu culture. Not only is he a pandit but an AMAZING one.
"Religion is like a vehicle, and the Lord's home is our destination."- Prakash Gossai
if he's so GREAT maybe he should teach you the qualifications of being a PANDIT. when you're practicing as a guru and you're not a bramhin, YOU ARE CORRUPTING THE HINDU CULTURE.
Wow if you believe in that bramhin garbage then you are not a true Hindu. You don't have to have parents that are "elite in the community" to spread the word of Bhagwan. The only qualification for being a pandit is a true desire to educate Hindu people about Bhagwan.
FUCKUYP is ignorant and needs to visit a mandir as soon as possible because he doesn't know what anything about the Hindu religion. The caste system is garbage. I'm sure Bhagwan is disappointed in FUCKUYP. With a name like that you know he can't be a true Hindu. I mean come on, "FUCKUYP"? Yeah that's real religious. He doesn't need to be advising people about the Hindu religion seeing he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Who are you to judge who is a true Hindu and who isn't? The fact that you are judging him by his ONLINE name is idiotic and ignorant at best. A Guru should be a spiritual leader who leads by example and who preaches, not for fame or fortune, but for the betterment of his disciples and the world. The Brahmins and Pandits of old did not charge for their services, nor did they sell CDs for personal profit. It's a joke. When choosing a Guru, consider more than just his ability to carry a note.
Yeah well Prakash doesn't charge for his services either. He takes donations but he never asks for money specifically for a service. Maybe he'll ask to fund raise for children in Guyana or for other charitable things. That's where the money he gets goes. And not only can he carry a note, but if you take the time to actually listen to one of his kathas, he has very knowledgeable things to say about Bhagwan. Just give the man a chance for God's sake.
I have no problem with the man himself, or the fact that he conducts lectures about God. But my problem is that people are too quick to call him "the greatest pandit ever" or some such shit. He's not...in fact, he's far from it. Anyone with any real life experience will have knowledgeable things to say about Bhagwan. All I'm saying is that our standards for what we consider to be a Pandit have plummeted significantly, and should be seriously reexamined...
Well we all have our opinions and I respect yours. I just ask not to criticize the man. He works very hard and no one that works hard deserves to be put down. So PLEASE keep negative opinions to yourself. Not just kdbeeharilal but everyone.
Nice, people...all of a sudden, anyone who can sing beautifully, play the harmonium, read a few scriptures and mantras, is called "Pandit." Long discarded are the tenets of living a certain life, having a certain birthright, and...oh yes! What about doing actual puja (the full, Vedic puja, not this Havan-only-then-sing half-step). A wonderful singer and musician, he is NOT a "pandit"; regardless of what he or others may WISH he was. Nothing wrong with that, just clarifying.
Exactly. I'm not saying he's a bad musician, but NOT a pandit, and NOT a saint, and surely NOT the demigod that he has been made out to be. Wake up, people! :) ...and screw the people who gave my comment a thumbs-down. if you did, you are missing an important message, and if you're truly devout to GOD, you're getting lost.
docbeepsjb, Your contention that Prakashji is not a "pandit" is not only assinine, but somewhat a testament of your stupidity. A Pandit, my friend, is a scholar or learned man; and the term is also used as a title of respect. Do you, docbeepsjp, know of any other Guyanese, or Caribbean pandit, that is as versed in the Hindu scriptures; articulate the meaning of the glorious stories that is our way of life? Prakash is the quintessential "pandit," and you my friend--is an asshole!
Your pseudo-command of the English language, firstly, neither strikes me as intimidating, nor does it enhance your weak points. Prakash is NOT a Hindu Priest. He may be learned, but those of proper Brahmin upbringing (like myself, dear assuming one) know at LEAST what he does, if not more. I could name many caribbean pandits who put to shame any and all of the so-called, self-proclaimed "pandits": Pt Nanan Tewari, Pt. Vase Narine Tiwari, Pt. Ramsumesar of Trinidad...shall I go on?
I'm sorry, I thought your name was HARI-das, not Prakash-das. I think it's in bad taste for you, or anyone for that matter, to call anyone names. Prakash is NOT a Pandit. A child can hum a tune and read Ramayan verses to it; does that make him a Pandit? No. I think you and your comment insulting to EVERY other Guyanese Pandit out there that is a REAL Pandit. It takes knowledge and the ability to reason, not just read translated and transliterated text, to make someone a Pandit.
kdbeeharilal, My Guru Prakashji is the consummate Pandit. My nincompoop friend, if a child is able to hum a tune and sing verses of the Ramayan...and...able to teach the scriptures, or even able to articulate the teachings of our glorious Dharma--then he is a Pandit! I know you will have issue with this because that is how ignorance works!!
You know they say that the biggest fools are the ones who resort to insults first without reason. You, my friend, are doing just that. Your statements speak volumes of your ignorance. It's a waste of mine and everyone else's time and energy to even bother with you when you clearly need no help in displaying your ignorance to the world, so please go forth and show the world the limits of human ignorance.
kdbeeharilal, did I hurt your feelings? There is a your boy in Florida, 13 years old I believe, and he is such great demand as a Pandit; not because of his age you dimwit, but because he is gifted because of his grasp of the Hindu scriptures and his ability to speak at your level; or mine!! In simple language he is a teacher--another word for Pandit. Now, ask yo mamma for 5 cents and go get me two cigarettes.
You are truly entertaining, rharidas...since entertainment is such a high priority on your list of Pandit qualities, maybe you should call yourself one, too. Hurt my feelings? You're really making me laugh. No matter how hard a monkey throws stones, they can never reach the moon. Just keep talking...the more you say, the more you show everyone your ignorance. Clearly, you have a lot to show, so please continue. By all means, continue...
kdbeeharilal, Yo monkey-boy, monkeys are better known for throwing monkey doo-doo. Anyway Gomer, your monkey analogy is moot because for the mighty Hanuman throwing your stones at the moon--is just warm-up!!
kd, before casting aspersions, an intelligent person would "know the subject" and you seem clueless. Prakash is a great Pandit regardless of the crap that you and your ilk spew about him. Now go cut the pumpkin.
we love u u heal so many of u r like an angel...
