There is absolutely no surprise waiting for you. Everything that could kill you are both in plain sight and works logically as soon as you enter the room.

How many rooms in this game share this feature? Probably less than what I can count with one hand.

guys i need help! i have 5 bosses done (need dracula, and devil robot dragon fireball thingy) and the guy, of course. But when i come to the beginning the lair, it says i need 6 units in all. so does that mean i kill either dracula or the devil robot thing? what do i do? where do i go?! i'm sooo confused

I found a glitch where you can clip through a pillar on that last platform so you won't have to avoid those last 4 spikes.

This room's not really that hard, but if you screw up you have to wait for the platforms all over again, so it can take a long time.

Yeah, that's always been my stance on it. But it's great for the intimidation factor.
