sounds to me like hes telling us about going to paris and vanishing. "cross the sea" , "hurts to set u free" , "never follow me" , "the night we tried to die". "this is the end". hope hes still around that would be badass.
kinda sounds like hes telling us about going to paris and "disapeering" . "Ride with me, cross the sea" (Paris). "Hurts to set you free", "you'll never follow me." ,"the nights we tried to die".????????????? somebody elaborate all that for me?
AWESOME VIDEO. Can anyone tell me the name of the song in the movie, "The Doors"...where Morrison is dancing with the Native American spirits on stage? What is the name of that particular song??? Its haunting me.
Actually, the surviving Members released at least one album after Jim left. It was called The Doors Other Voices, and as I remember, ti was nothing like The Doors with Jim! And were ever Jim's gone, I doubt he's resting!
The Doors celebrity focuses too much on jim morrison, the lyrics and his personality but you see here they were a great band, the music is great and their improvisation skills are remarkable
@AristYdes the thing that impresses me the most about the band is the incredible ability that Ray has...just mindblowing, bass-organ is just a thing of cheer exitement and awe, then that serpent-like solos..jim...the drums....fuck me...its just too much to bare, wow
ther was an away in india section in this version, and a gitar section after he says-ride that train missing.why was it butcherd can any one shed any light???
the reason the doors wont or cant release this version on dvd is not because it was a piss performance but because the bbc who made the recordings wont release it for public viewing.
I can't agree with them-at least not soundwise. For example imo the Isle of Wight "Break On Through" is the best live Doors performance of that song. Robbie's guitar in particular has a fullers sound that I love. They just sound more I don't know-Full of Blues and Soul. :)
That's true.. You can compare this performance on their just released Pittsburgh-live.. I'd say that was somewhat soulless.. On the other hand the new Live in Boston is a complete killer.. Morrison is fucking wasted and there are some musical problems but there's some unexplainable magic in that one.. Plus for some odd reason I've always considered the ones where Jim just concentrates on singing their best shows. Like Hollywood Bowl.. Ray and Robby for example hate that one.. I LOVE it..
I love their Hollywood Bowl performances! I know alot of fans think that concert was comparatively 'tame' but imo Jim's voice was at the time of his game-it had really beauty-actually even at the sad last year or so of his life his voice had that magic.
This footage is from the movie "Message to love - Isle of wight festival" that contain also other great performances from the best artists of the 60's. Anyway for me THIS is the best Morrison, his voice is Deep and soulful more then ever!
it really hurts to see him perform so emotionlessly although he doesn't sound like it his face tells enough.. even robby doesn't look like he's having a good time
Sad seeing him like that, almost dissappointing that someone as great as jim performing emotionlessly. Seems he didnt care about anything anymore at that point.
@GrizzlTooth I agree, this is one of their best performances! Some say Jim isn't showing emotions here, but I disagree 100%. It's almost like he knew "The End" was indeed near. You can hear the melancholy in this song. It's priceless, and sad, I loved Jim Morrison.
Again an oustanding performance of the band, one of the best I heard of The end. I hear a lot of laments in this rich bluesy southern voice.
What a great authentic graceful man, if only he had more time, what a loss, sad.

They released two albums without Jim. "Other Voices" and "Full Circle" I have them both and they both suck hard.
When Full Circle came out, my friends and I hated it so much we called it 'Full Circle Jerk'
kodiakfred140 3 years ago
Haha so true... xD
kokomono91 3 years ago
I thought "Other Voices" was OK - although it does play like a collection of "B" Sides.
I never bothered with "Full Circle": I don't I everr heard one good thing about it from any one.
candrew14 2 years ago
@kodiakfred140 Interesting that Robby wrote at least a half dozen of The Door's hits
-but not a single hit post-Jimbo.
I got copies of both Other Voices and Circle Jerk in 1983
-my brother bought them in Mexico, you couldn't get them in the USA by that point.

@jordanmacintosh702 The Doors are not The Doors without Jimbo.
On the other hand, The Doors music would not have sounded
as great without those 3 unique musicians.
Oh, and Robby Krieger wrote at least half a dozen of their hits.

@audie83 He sings better with his eyes closed than 99% of so-called singers today sing with their eyes open.
