engineered or evolved, made as a template of the Lord's mind all at once or over time, either way, the effect was sublime, a creature in the world who can swim in air of a viscosity that is common on Earth, in an atmosphere where flowers bloom and they are helped by little two-eyed, two-winged precious things, pollen riding on the wind, but if they attach to a two eye floating flapping angel bird, they will for SURE find another flower to recombine with, slow motion capture reflects life's game
There is indeed something hypnotic and otherworldly about seeing these little guys slowed-down like this... Very interesting to watch fly! Thanks for checking it out =)
I have 8 more-or-less active channels (the first 7 listed in the "other channels" boxs of each of my channels are mine)... At one point a while back I realized that I have SO many videos (2000+) it would help to categorize new material and upload into "specialty" channels so viewers wouldn't have to wade through pages and pages of variety. Things are still a little scattered, but using the favorites and cross-channel links, I've managed to hook everything together to some degree. :-)
Profoundly beautiful~ I've come to appreciate these little ones recently, my new home came with 5 or so. Two of them, after filling the feeder come within inches of my face,,can't get better than that. =)
I think that's what I like most about timelapse and slow motion is the ability to easily see and comprehend that which we could only ponder :-) Thanks for watching and commenting!
Once you get birds coming in regularly, you should be able to work your way up to standing right under the feeder and getting them to land on your finger while feeding - once they get used to your presence there - they can be surprisingly brave. :-)
you know the job of a humming bird is more intricate than i would have imagined previously, and it is amazing how they are able to suspend themselves with such force it is as if they were created by man, when in fact they were natural occurances like mountins and trees. astounding!
They are indeed even more amazing when slowed enough to see what they are doing. One thing they have going for them is that they are VERY lightweight, so hovering is much easier for them than most birds. Their speed, agility and reaction time is pretty hard to keep up with :-)
I'm surprised that you don't get seasonal Black-Chinned and Rufous Hummingbirds migrating through - they make it all the way into Canada from what I hear.... Maybe they just like a more westerly route for some reason. Anyway, it's good that you at least have Ruby Throats! :-)
I appreciate very much your time capturing these moments so beautifully...I recently produced a video to the tune, "Hummingbird" Seals and Crofts..so, there has been lots of talk about these beautiful little creatures..and, my mother loves hummingbirds..this is an awesome audio/visual..and, I am thankful that I just happened to find you this evening..God Bless you always..great channel
Great shots! I am using the same camera but my own shots can´t compete with yours, at least not yet! ;-) Thank you very much for this great upload! This is worth 5 stars!!!
Thanks for the great comment! It took me a while to learn to use this camera, and I'm still working at it. Due to the "locked" controls during shooting, it's somewhat a matter of luck and educated guessing where moving subjects are concerned. One technique I use is to just shoot a TON of footage in hopes that I'll get a few seconds of good stuff, and that usually seems to pay off! XD Cheers!
what we want to do next is to split the flower lengthwise....get a shot of the hbirds tong going deep into the flower....macro maybe...600 fps lighting must be perfect...use a hybiskus..attach sides of cut flower to acetate window...we must get the tongue
I'm pretty sure I can get that shot again using the same setup wihth the Casio instaead of the Canon.... The tongue just needs to "lap" up against a concave surface to cause it to separate like that... that is, if it's real and not an illusion! XD
So glad you enjoyed this one :-) The high speed camera is a real big part og getting these shots, as well as many hours of filming and experimenting to figure out what works and what doesn't. Every day is a learning experience! :-)
I absolutely love your guys' vids. There are so many that could benefit physically, mentally, and, perhaps, spiritually from viewing your work. Sincerely, W
These little guys fascinated me since I was a kid, and now it's nice to able to see and share them with the world in this way. So glad you enjoyed - thanks for watching and the nice comment! :-)
Another great video Chris! I could spend hours... and just watch YOUR videos. I didn't realize how many things you have going. You are so good and productive.
Thanks so much for all the kind words! Yes indeed, productive is my middle name, although I do have plenty of mediocre vids :-)
I did see that hummingbird special on PBS/Nature a week or so ago - fascinating stuff! I was already aware of the tail feather "chirp" that the male Anna's make, as well as a longer tail whistle that show didn't cover (might be a diff species than Anna's) I'm hoping to slow-mo that this season when the mating dives resume. Cheers!:-)
Glad you saw that video or special as they say on PBS. That was so good. I saw it on my big HD screen and it was amazing. You are so up on all your information. I am looking forward to YOUR video of the dives and mating Hummers.
Great track! n facinating video as usuall.

You've done an incredible job of capturing a slowed-down world that we rarely (maybe never) see...or hardly ever realize is happening around us.
But that's what photography is all about.
The perfect sounds you add are what take these videos to a whole other realm. Most excellent. I'll browse some more.
