yeah right gasol better than amare what type of drugs are you on it like this amare then tim ducan chris bosh garnet then dirk gasol isnt even top five top ten yes but you must be on something to put gasol over stat. amarehas virtually unlimted range he can even make threes he more ferocious in the paint than any power forward in the league and thats what matter the most he averages more points than any pf and is impossible to guard never put gasol and amare in the same sentence thats stupid

Actually I agree with him. Gasol is better than Amare. He is better in offense and in D. not as strong or athletic but more skilled and smarter. He has a very good post up game--something Stoudemire lacks. They virtually rebound the same but Pau is definitely better on D with his length and he doesn't think score all the time. Also, Pau is a much better passer. Amare is a better dunker and can shoot a little better but he is one-dimensional. can't pass and can't play D. can block but that's it.

you must like the european style of play is that why you said passing i like the more traditional us style of play were the big man dominate an think score first and dunk and shoot well . big man should think score first because of his size and not worry about passing thats the point guards job. pau gasol defense to me isnt that god im mean he only had.9 in blocks amre had1.1 so yeah amre could improve his defese but you have have to have something to work on otherwise youd be perfect

whatever style of play, bigs should learn when and not to pass because they are not the only players in their team. Look at Tim Duncan. He can score down low but if the defense ain't giving the paint to him like when they double or triple him and basically clog the paint, He'll pass out of it and let his (open) mates do the work. that+very good defense = 4 championships. For Stoudemire to be even considered among the very best, he has to learn how to play both ends of the court and play smarter

you know honestly i respect your opinion you make point but i still dont see how we could compare the two because they have different styles of play maybe if it was dirk vs gasol it would make more sense but putting amre and gasol you still put a alot of emphasis on the passing amare average about 2 or 3 assist a game that to me for a big man is solid with experience do think amre will be even better to me he is scary for anyone to guard he does have post moves his shooting is even better

ok i agree that amare has a lot of potential. At first he was Howard-like. By that I mean he can only dunk and put in the occasional jump hook. When he got injured, he worked on his J and now he has a good jumper and is now pretty decent on the FT line. However, most of his offense comes from pick and roll situations. He has to learn how to post up properly. All I'm saying is that he will be all the more unstoppable if he completes his game. and his team will benefit too if he plays D.

All I'm saying that Gasol is better because Gasol has what Stoudemire doesn't. A good post up game, passing ability, and he can play decent D...not too good but decent. He has experienced carrying a team to the playoffs as a leader. Stoudemire's stacked suns teams hardly made amare a leader. also, the decision making. Being one-dimensional is a weakness and not a strength. He can work on that. that's why for me, Gasol is better for now. Amare is great but he still has a lot to improve.

so lets just for the sake of the argument gasol and amare go one on one in the gym in a game to 21 who wins and what would be the score.

1on1 is a totally diff game from nba bball. I haven't seen both play serious 1on1 before so honestly I have no clue who'll win much less the score. I'd have to say that Gasol has the advantage down low and Amare can beat Gasol up top where he can make use of his quickness. Amare better make his shots inside though since there won't be any FTs and that'll be hard with Gasol's length. And Pau has experience guarding strong bigs like Howard decently. It's a hard call and it'll prolly be close.

but for the sake of argument, I'll say since Gasol can score on Howard, he can score on the smaller Stoudemire. Stoudemire is limited when it comes to post moves so must rely on perimeter quickness to go past Pau or take some Jumpers w/c Pau can also do. on D, Stoudemire is also limited since he can't guard post up guys like Duncan well. And Pau is good at posting up. So I'd have to say that Pau has a better chance of stopping Amare than Amare has of stopping Pau. But still it's a toss up.

Oh and defense isn't only about blocks and steals. It is also about Rebounding. both defensive and offensive. And denials. Also about positioning and blocking out. It is also about the intangibles that don't show up on the stat sheet. Stoudemire doesn't strike me as one who gives a lot on D. just on offense. He's basically just a body on Defense with the ability to block shots occassionally.
