It's true that captive-raised exotics often can't be released into the wild -- but they should be treated with dignity and love -- nobody can seriously ask for more than just these two requirements -- love and dignity!!

I have seen them in Addis. There is no respect for living creatures all around this zoo. It is sad, that Ethiopians say they have a zoo. For me it was more like a guantanamo. Animals in terrible conditions, and without any peace. All for tourists.
Yes, the gvmt manages the zoo. BUT the fact still remains, there isn't enough funds for the animals regardless of who manages the facility. Read more about ethoipian economy before you comment :)
r u kidding me? u're saying the inadequate living conditions of these lions on "tyrannical gvmt"?C'mon,ur logic doesn't follow.I am not saying the gvmt is great. But the lack of funds would be a better reasoning for the condtion of the zoo than the ruling style of the gvmt. ppl are frustrated with the current regime but I don't think it's fair to blame the gvmt for every little thing that happens in that country. Lets not forget ppl live in worse conditions in that country than these lions.
@r365z tell them my dear Ethiopian z foriegners are trippin in everything( ok not in everything they do also lots of lots of good thigs but some time they say shit things which make ppl mad)!!! i have been there years ago and z lions look actually good they get things they need they look good :)
