  • I'm sorry... let me clarify! I didn't mean that the MUSIC was awful - what I meant to say was that your registration is hideous!! Turn the fucking vibrato stop off!!!!

  • @MrsNewguy You don't know the true meaning of church music... Awful or not( and this was not) THATS NOT THE POINT!!!! The point is that you are gathered praying. You fool!

  • YOU ALONE ARE THE MOST HIGH JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!

    LOVE this Gloria!! Thanks! :)

  • I think this was awesome! I hear this a Mass all the time and a little variation is in order. Ever hear Rod Stewart sing Maggie May, or Mick Jagger sing Like a Rolling Stone, or Elton John sign Yellow Brick Road? After singing it hundreds of times, they vary it to keep from losing their minds!

  • Beautifully played :) I like the warm gold colour of the video too.

  • @ByJe55ica Thank you very much.. I enjoy this mass setting very much.. I plan on changing to Mass of the Angels and saints here at the end of summer!

  • please do a tutorial!

  • @OrganGuy1019 Amen to that!

  • As a church organist with almost 8 years experience, I've played the Mass of Creation on everything from a massive pipe organ to a 2 manual Allen and I must say, this has potential to be good, but in its current state its rubbish. Learn to register the organ. Bold Principals and Mixtures on the refrain. 8' and 4' Principals on the verses. Add the manual reeds and a light 16' reed in the pedal on the final refrain. But most importantly, TAKE OFF THE TREMULANT! cont'd in next post

  • This is a bold hymn of praise. Not a gospel swinger piece. Also, work on your music reading ability and manual technique. Your waver from the score constantly and play the manuals in a very piano, choppy style. The organ requires a good legato touch unless specified by a composer. I will make a video of this as it should be played and registered and post it very soon. Until then, keep working on this. As I said before, there is alot of potential here. But for the moment, not so good.

  • And in conclusion, artistic license is one thing. Mutilating a score is another. I have played this so many times its painful to think of a number to describe it. Good registration and a good tempo is all that is needed to make a congregation sing! I am a devout Roman Catholic myself and I have never had a problem with a congregation not singing if the organ is being played properly.

  • @octavegeigen4 if you haven't realized... As the Director of Music you are the conductor so therefore you get to make the choice.. I'm so tired of going to masses and doing the same old thing... Wake the Music Up!

  • @octavegeigen4 - in the lad's defense, I must say that I've played the Mass of Creation so many times I never look at the score anymore. I take plenty of liberties and I fool around with different registrations all the time. Fact is, I'm bored to tears with the setting because it seems to be THE setting that every US Roman churcher knows - why learn another?

Anyroad, cut the kid some slack - just because this isn't your interpretation of the Mass of Creation doesn't mean it isn't a valid one.

  • @posaune16 Thank you

  • @octavegeigen4 - Take off the tremulant, yourself... I remember a video you posted last summer, "A Basic Variation on Alleluia, Sing to Jesus" that involved an awful lot of sick-sounding trems ;-)

  • okay, speaking as a church organist for the past 31 years: you play well, buy definitely need to remove the vibrato from this sort of hymn.

  • I don't like this organ, but I have been spoiled by living in a community where nearly every Catholic Church has a large pipe organ, despite the small size of the community. Great playing, minus the trems. though...

  • Take off the Tremelo!!!!

  • This is my favorite Gloria! It brings me big chills when played on an organ. And its appears that the organ is a Rodgers. Is it?

  • Don't listen to THEM, I think it is lovely! Remember NO ONE EVER erected a monument to a CRITIC!

  • Congradulations on choosing your own stops, I am not critical of you choosing your voicing. However I do have the suggestion that if you plan on using this in mass with a full congregation that you something slightly bolder, as the congregation will drown you out when they sign. You're the organist-give them some support

  • @kdTV2Lvr actually. G minor.

  • It isn't in B flat.

  • Um... not to be rude, but your voicing and tempo makes this sound like a dirge. There is a youtube video on here with the actual recording by Marty Haugen. It's a brisk tempo, and the organ registrations call for brightness - principals 8/4/2, adding mixtures on end refrain. I'd brush up on this piece as it is a fantastic composition.
