Remember too, that in the 50's & 60's this was all we had. Starwars and Aliens weren't around then and so we didn't know there was any better movies. We had what we had and enjoyed them. Now when we watch them, we see them as silly,stupid or cheezy. Back then, we flocked to the drive-in to watch them!

The threat of the cold war was real. People were planning and building bomb shelters and when plains flew overhead, we looked to see if they were military. These movies were popular and I am not sure that we looked for any allegorys in them, we watched them because they were good.

This is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. It's really a cheestastic masterpiece of 1950's horror cinema. I love how the 'leeches' look like they're made out of "Hefty" bags.
