I don't understand these Adjustable Rate Mortgages. All of a sudden the interest rate went up to 15%? She did not know this was going to happen when she took out the mortgage? And her payment is $2400?!!!!? I don't know where she lives, but I live in the NY area which is one of the most expensive in the nation and all my shelter expenses, rent, heat, electricity,natural gas, water, sewer, trash collection, parking are less than $1000 per month. I really find it difficult feeling sorry for her.

I agree. How is it the bank's fault if I buy a home that I can't afford to pay for just because the bank told me I could afford it? I am 39 years old, and my home has been paid for for several years. The reason is because I didn't go buy a 200K home. I would live in an old trailer before I went into debt over 100k. I will decide what I can afford, not the bank! Money can be derived at the benefit of both. Your claim is absurd. If I ask you to bake a cake, I pay you your expenses and a profit, then I sell the cake at store for a bit more profit, we all made money and someone traded theirs for a cake they wanted more than the money. This is how all business works.
And money can only have value if it grows at a pace, otherwise it gets absorbed by waste and depreciation. You know virtually of economics.

Inflation and money being derived for the benefit of both parties are not mutually exclusive. We have inflation, but we also have wealth being generated by the production of goods from labor. Money has less value, but there is more of it every minute because of production.
