@liverpoolfcfan08 spartacus is a folklore almost mythical figure who led the slaves (servile class/caste) during the 3rd(i think >.<) slave rebellion in the roman republic. so season 2 would probably be about he's rebellion but the show is not very accurate about history facts I.E the armors are way too advanced for 100-70ish BC. you can try and find the 1960 movie("Spartacus") which was an amazing film in my honest opinion.

@sadim31 You're correct. They haven't shot season 2 yet and so during comic con they released a trailer that was what they call "Season 2 trailer" but of course you know the rest. Hopefully they'll start making season 2 soon....

Looking more closely you'll notice the arena in the background, as it fades to different moments. There is a scene where Spartacus and Varro fight together in the arena in which Spartacus jumps off Varró's shield. The two scenes were put next to each other in a sneaky way.

@apetrowitsch Unfortunately this crap cancer gained our hero and he had to drop the role. In the meantime, they decided to forge the prequel to set up the story of the Ludus before the arrival of Spartacus. Therefore we won't see him in the second season. But we shall see the rise of Crixus the Gaul. The sequel will come in the third season but there is a big doubt about Andy as Spartacus, since he is sick. No one will ever match What Whitfield captures on-screen. You can throw the best actors in the industry but they wil not be spartacus. They will be actors.
The show is amazing but honestly you can't just replace Andy.. he is the main guy! It's unfortunate his cancer has come back but if it were me I would'nt even air another season without Andy. If they have to they should have just waited another year for him to get the proper treatment and get better. Anytime a sequel was ever made with the main actor replaced I was always dissapointed. I was also a little let down that season 2 is a prequel I wanted to see what happens after they kill everyone.

@jinchurikione This was true for awhile but he has improved greatly since then and is back in action. (at least that's what he and the producers said in this year's comic con...)
@TheFusioncomics Andy left the show, and the role of Spartacus is being recast. He was improving and production on season 2 almost began, but than in late September his cancer returned and he opted to quit the show. There is an audition page on the starz website, and the press releases.

The show is amazing but honestly you can't just replace Andy.. he is the main guy! It's unfortunate his cancer has come back but if it were me I would'nt even air another season without Andy. If they have to they should have just waited another year for him to get the proper treatment and get better. Anytime a sequel was ever made with the main actor replaced I was always dissapointed. I was also a little let down that season 2 is a prequel I wanted to see what happens after they kill everyone.

In my eyes, Andy Whitfield is a modern-day gladiator and like Sparticus, he's going to defeat this cancer and put into submission. He's a fighter, and he can do it. My prayers and thoughts are with him and his family.

@jeremyburfield The prequel was planned before Andy became ill, and has nothing to do with Andy being sick. Andy is also 100% NOT returning to spartacus EVER. They will continue his story with a difference actor in the role or spartacus.

@jinchurikione This was true for awhile but he has improved greatly since then and is back in action. (at least that's what he and the producers said in this year's comic con...)

@TheFusioncomics Andy left the show, and the role of Spartacus is being recast. He was improving and production on season 2 almost began, but than in late September his cancer returned and he opted to quit the show. There is an audition page on the starz website, and the press releases.
