...synchronized to the lighting striking in the background. Really wish for the Hat-Box ghost to come back to life within the years to come. Hopefully after the new Haunted Mansion reboot (Which Del Toro wants to make the Hat-Box Ghost the main character of the film), they will put him back in the ride and fix up the illusion with today;s technology.
....... and this is why in every scene in the ride, you can see the raven (Ex. perched up on the same wooden rod as "Master Gracey" hanging from the portrait room, near the ghost struggling to get out of the coffine, on a hat stand next to the "Invisible Pano Player", ETC.) It's just interesting how their ideas came alive in this Soundtrack, along with the Hat-Box (even though they could never time it perfectly for the illusion for his head to appear on his shoulders, then in his box.........
It really is amazing how this Story is exactly like the actual Mansion ride. Going from the doorway, to the stretching portraits, skeleton working his way out of the coffin, to Madame Leota, to the Ball, and then the Attic with the Hat-Box Ghost, then off to the balcony overlooking the graveyard. I feel as if this "Story and Song" was the way the ride was really meant to be. I know Xavier Atencio and other imagineers pictured the Raven being the actual Host of the ride, not the Ghost Host.......
@gameplayer951 yeah, I also think they should bring back the original attic scene because WAS THERE REALLY A REASON TO PUT A NEW ONE IN? Alright, so it gives you some story on one of the stretching portraits but really? all because of that? Anyway, they removed the hat box ghost because "the special effects on it didn't really work right. But with today's special effects, they could fix that, right?
@nuclear1250 course they could. they could re-imagine what they really wanted the hat box ghost to do. and how was the original attic scene really like?
@gameplayer951: The original attic scene was more depressing than disturbing, because in the tale, Emily--the original bride, whose shyness made her hide her face until a refurb--ended up dead on her wedding night, suffocating an attic trunk due to a jealous Leota. Despite having Leota trapped in her own crystal ball, Gracy couldn't live in a cursed home any longer, so he hung himself.
@gameplayer951: That being said, even though we still hear Emily's hearbeat--which leads me to believe that the new bride, Constance, scared Emily into hiding--Constance herself, however, is a bride that kills her husands (hence her nickname of The Black Widow Bride), so I wouldn't know how her story would work against the already established Mansion canon (which is that Gracy hung himself and as known, you cannot kill what is already dead).
@nuclear1250 The new attic adds a scarier feel to the Haunted Mansion, something Claude Coats wanted. The Hatbox Ghost IS coming back, and he will fit perfectly into the Attic. Disney will probably put him in there the same time the new movie is released
@Blu923the2nd: As long as it follows the tragic love story & doesn't make it campy like the Eddie Murphy film, I'm all for it. That said, Constance MUST BE The Hat Box Ghost's bride-to-be, given that she kills her husbands on their wedding day by beheading them, due to her Black Widow status. Yet, I wonder how "Ghost Host" Master Gracey would be involved, since we all know he hung himself out of grief, given that, in original canon, his bride was Emily, The Bleeding Heart Bride.
@TherealRNO You have to remember "Emily" and "Master Gracey" were made by fans in the early days of the Haunted Mansion. The tales from Nupital Doom were ones pieced together by the cast members. I do agree Constance needs to be in the movie.
The new movie will be much like the attraction: Scary and funny, according to Guillermo Del Torro
@Blu923the2nd: Still, the Ghost Host did hang himself. This we know. So his story cannot intertwine with that of "Black Widow" Constance, because you cannot kill what's already dead, unless an exorcism occurs, and we know Constance, being a Black Widow, entraps her husbands-to-be, then beheads them on their wedding day, which means that The Hat Box Ghost--who is also rumored to be in one of the Hanging Portraits--may make his long awaited return.
@Blu923the2nd: Besides, Nuptial Doom & the overall whole story with sea captain, Captain Blood, were stories made up by Imagineers as they built the ride, so by this point, the stories--from cast members and fans alike--are so covoluted that it's hard to find some sense of one, true definite story. In fact, the ONLY "Masion" WITH a solid story is Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris (formerly EuroDisney).
