I got Gears of War for Xbox 360 with the system for Xmas 4 years ago. 4 years later, I got Resistance: F.O.M. for Xmas 6 months after I bought a used 60GB PS3. I played both games and they're both good.

I own a PS3 and LOVE Resistance. Without even seeing Gears in person, I know it's not my type of game. I avoid it the way I avoid Heavy Metal Music. It's not my thing. Even if Gears is free, I would probably pass.

Given that, I admit that Gears seem to have better character models and animations. More polygons, and so on.

I like Resistance so much, I didn't even feel interested in Resistance 2, Unchareted 2, or Killzone2. i just enjoyed Resistance without care for R2, UC2, and KZ2's launch

GoW is simply overrated, R1 fast and fun gameplay, lots of weapons, 50 ways to kill an enemy and it had amazing graphics as for 2006. BTW Multiplayer is outstanding, one of the best online games out there.

The sad thing is that some people will choose Gears or Resistance based on what console they're in love with. Some Xbox fanboy will go for gears, and some PS3 fanboy will go for resistance, its a shame really. I have both consoles, and I think both games are great, but due to an overall better technical achievement, and some really solid gameplay, Gears does it for me.

I prefer gears of war its a revolutionary game and no-ones seen anything like it. The character design and graphics are really great and even better in gow2. The weapons are ingenious like the chainsaw bayonet and the hammer of dawn are so good to use and so fun at the same time. Gears also has a certain atmosphere about it and it really sucks you in. Multliplayer and online are great and overall i think gears is the better game and if not its definately my favourite out of the two.

I'm not a fanboy but my opinion is Gears of War, Resistance is just like any other FPS which no one gives a shit about.. just run and shoot and kill different kinds of enemies and many more weapons oh wow... Gears' characters look much more badass, the gameplay is better, online is better, and the game itself is much more raw and gritty and badass.. if you wanna better FPS game, play Goldeneye 007 or Half Life 2.. or for new FPS, Fallout 3 or Far Cry 2.
