  • One of my top five shows.

  • look at jerry garcia, he turned gray before he turned 40. it was from all the drugs and stuff

  • I was at this concert in Seattle at the old King Dome in 1982 just before my army unit shipped out for jungle training in Panama. ZZ-TOP, and 38 Special. I was so stoned. Great concert though:-))))

  • hey everyone, keep in mind roger was a guitarist!

  • Kenny Jones is a freakin' metronome. Not as flashy as Moonie but a far better drummer.

  • Drinks flow...people forget!!!

  • Someone tell me why John was turning gray before his 40th birthday?

  • @spudmuffin99 cocaine, booze, smokes, the stress of being in one of the biggest bands on the planet

  • @spudmuffin99 cocaine, booze, smokes, the stress of being in one of the biggest bands on the planet

  • Holy treble!

  • So I've seen several versions of this live and I really want to know, is Roger's guitar even plugged in?

  • @def1ghi LOL i've wondered the same thing. My guess is no, or if it is, he's got no volume because I can only ever hear Pete (no complaints :P)

  • A great tune sung by a great guitarist, who ever thought he could sing like that??

  • I was at this show on the Who's "Farewell" tour. Better sound on these vids that at the god awful Kingdome. Much less energy than previous Who shows i had seen and thought it was time to say farewell. Unfortunately they didn't stick to it, but I still love the Who and what they once were. Please Pete, no more tours.

  • I always thought this was a Peter Gabriel song about butt sex.

  • i never knew how cool and suave pistol pete was! i bet he got tons of ass!

  • SOMEONE TURN UP JOHN'S AMP!!!

  • Pete Townsend (Don't get fooled Again) gave me the fuel to my fire to play guitar. Thank you for posting this video !

  • IMO the best of pete's many eminence front solos (at least of the ones on youtube)

  • Real music, sigh. When live music sounded like the album, and you got goosebumps when you went to a concert. These days, music blows chunks and the concert sound sucks.

    1 person doesn't like music.

  • Real music, sign.

    1 person doesn't like music.

  • the bassline is just wooooww those slaps and everything !! and pete reminds me of lucky luke somehow :)

  • A song that makes me wish one of my hero's hadn't tarnished his image with child pornography implications.

  • @waltbauer he was cleared of any and all charges, suspicion etc..

  • can anyone refer me to the version that goes: its an eminence front ..its bullsh it bullshit yeah yeah yeah. i heard it once on the radio back in the day

  • @lokeydaniel it's the live recording on 'it's hard' taken in Toronto from their last show in their 82 farewell.

thanfully there's a vid of that very performance here (add this): /watch?v=0-fw8ODRcG8

  • @zenlee1109

    wow thanks so much

thiryt years its been in my head. well almost thirty

  • @Gidster19 Rob Wright is a better bass player than ox.

  • People Forget...

    very true observation

  • Thats fucking Rock n Roll, when Pete spits.Haahahaaha !!!WHO Rule! I saw them in Cleveland on this tour !!

  • For me,.........it's one of the greatest rock and roll ever. EVER!

Peace out. Long live the Who!

  • i was there was kick ass rock!!

  • Townshend really proves what an underrated guitarist he is in this performance

  • im always blown away by the who. fave band for ever!

  • @accadaccasuperstar

     best version of this ever

  • I know this song thanks to gta san andreas, and is great. Perfect bass, perfect guitar, perfect keyboars, perfect drums, and a nice rocker voice. The man who chose the music in gta san andreas it's my idol.

One video game can teaching culture.

  • John's bottom string is out of tune. Still awesome.

  • 03:19 ele da um cuspi

  • pete townsend, just awesome

  • the drummer suxx.. rip keith moon

  • @mando4cs that's Kenny Jones one of the all time greats when does your brain get back from the cleaner's ?

  • @mando4cs Kenny Jones (s u x x) does it hurt being that stupid ?

  • Entwistle just makes me laugh. Nobody can hold a candle to him. Geddy's great, and Flea has some tasty chops, but The Ox is the daddy. In every clip on the interweb he's doing things that nobody else can do or ever will do again.

He's as unique as Moonie. Stands alone. There's The Ox up here, and there's everyone else down there.

  • @Gidster19 LOL I agree!.....but don't let Sting hear you say that!

  • Love the sound of Pete's axe on this one - just the right amount of feedback and echo.

My favorite who track along with My Generation.

  • 1 dislike, damn you geddy lee...

  • the bass line is awesome

  • The Clash opened this show in Seattle,

  • @lazlo717 with Tory Crimes back behind the kit I was there

  • Was at this concert front row...thats right bitches eat your heart out

  • @benzomelon I might have thrown up on yer shoes

  • I love Entwhiste's sound. He must be using an octave pedal to get those low notes.

  • The bass line in this version rocks!

  • This is my favorite version of this song! Full of energy!

  • I am dating myself but I was there at the Kingdome for that show. it was F*ING loud. I was playing in a band called Tangent at the time and it really left an impression on me. Thanks for posting!

  • Hah! I was at that gig at the Kingdome. I went at the last minute by myself. Even though I had no one to go with I couldn't stay home while the Who were in town. I arrived a half hour into the show and couldn't find a decent seat. The sound up in the 300 level was atrocious so I fanagled my way down in front. I ended up right in front of the speakers for "Love Reigh on Me". Lordy that was loud, but so powerful.

  • fuckin cool

  • I love Entwistle's bass playing in this song, it's really prominent. I particularly love the sound of Pete's guitar in this version.

  • Muy gratos recuerdos este temazo de los Who.saludos a los frikis de Cuba.

  • damn, this video makes me jealous. i've seen roger with clapton, but ive never seen pete. hes a bad mfkr.

  • Who gave this gig a dislike? o.ô

  • You make joke about it, but ironically, Roger's guitar lick is what makes this song.

"dun, du, na, na" ..wook-ka-wa.."dun, duh, na, na"..wook-ka-wa..."dun-duh-na-na".

  • I was there!!!

  • Great guitar playing by Pete at the beginning!

  • @bareknuckles2u Totally agree!

  • I find it interesting during the tour rehearsals (when the Eminence Front video and the Schiltz beer ad) Roger was playing a black Schecter Telecaster like Pete's. But during the actual tour he seems to have used a blonde Fender Esquire, like in this video. BTW, this is a great version of the song. The bass is nice and loud in the mix (as it should always be when Thunderfingers is present) and Pete's playing is inspired.

  • Pete looks so young 28-years ago in this video. Man, he looks way different now.

Incredible performance and guitar playing. Smooth performance and great live

    concert video.

  • Coliher Clayton and Matthew Barnett Emmence FRONT Barnett's. I'm Free-The Who.

  • Play street fighter to this

  • GREAT VIDEO, THANKS FOR POSTING . THIS WAS GREAT FUN- THE WHO DIDN'T PLAY VANCOUVER ON THIS TOUR SO THE SUN NEWSPAPER HAD A DRAW FOR TEN THOUSAND TICKETS TO THE SEATTLE SHOW . IT WAS QUITE THE BORDER CROSSING AS I RECALL. MUCH 'UNPACKING ' AT THE FIRST REST STOP OVER THE BORDER!!!!!

  • 3:20 Ew. Seriously, get a spittoon.

  • awesome vid, i was at this show, we drove down to seattle from vancouver. 5 of us cramed into a 73 pinto station wagon, what a wicked concert thanks for posting

  • I saw the Who play live about this time in Dallas,Texas. It was touted as the "Last American Tour". Yeah...right. Still, it was awesome and I particularly remember this "new" tune.

  • I can't believe what Pete's capable of on his guitar. He always seems to have quiet a struggle with his solos and then he turns out to be a jazz rock virtuoso

  • Imagine if Keith Moon was still alive when they did this song !!

  • bands in the 80's sound so much sicker live than bands today holy shit!!!

  • Man, what a time piece. Actually, this was supposed to be it for the band. If memory serves me correctly, this their "last" tour. They would have toured in 1981, but Pete delayed the release of the 'It's Hard" LP until a year later. Seems as though the band didn't want anyone stealing their thunder- They didn't want their tour to coincide with the Stones' 1981-82 Tattoo You tour.

  • Pete at his absolute cool, coolest. From synthesizer (which he wrote and laid down) to lyrics, no one comes close. Watch the way he plays lead guitar on this song...absolutely effortless

  • Good video, just wish they would show some of John playing.

  • Yep is a Schecter not Hohner.

  • @haroldkellock: Peter Criss????? Kenny Jones. This tour was OK with the Clash (saw them in Oakland). I thought this was one of the only songs they did that really nailed it. A lot of their stuff seemed a bit of going through the motions.

  • Was at that show as well...even the Clash were pissed off.

  • I bet The Who were pissed off.

Wouldn't you be if your manager told you to get on stage and dress like Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon et al?? Look like a bunch of wallies...

  • WOW!!!

  • I've seen them play better, especially Peter Criss. But I always liked them better in makeup.

  • @HaroldKellock good one

  • This was in the old Kingdome in Seattle. A great show backed up by the Clash. Haven't seen much else like it since.

  • Great performance of this song. But as alluded to earlier, The telecaster copy Pete was playing was actually made by Hohner, the same company that made Prince's brown telecaster copy he's been playing for the last 30 years. You can actually see the name on the headstock of the guitar in the official video for this song. Hohner just started making Prince's guitar again last year, I hope they'll reissue Pete's model as well.-Bvan

  • Actually, the tele copies Pete played were made by Schecter not Hohner.

  • this song kicks ass

  • Love this song. One of their all time bests.

  • best version of eminence front ive ever heard

  • this is what you call music!!

  • No. This is what you call great, funky music!

  • I like it.

  • Townsend in his prime could hold his own with anybody.

    Great version of this tune!

  • @AlturaCt , Townshend has never left his prime!

  • Right ON !! I was there !!! Was my first Who concert. Fricking AWESOME SHOW !!!

    THANK YOU !!!

  • anyone knows about a live video of "dangerous"? I can't find it on youtube but I'm sure they did it in 1982 shows... if you know anything let me know please

  • Yeah it was in this show. I just posted it, look in my channel for the link.

  • thanks a lot :) i love it

    Wizard,and Wont get Fooled Again.

  • They were in Ahoy. (Holland)

    They are still great xD

  • I was there that night, amazing show. The opening act was The Clash.

  • The Who is great.

    i love Pete spitting

  • I am not a big fan of Fender guitars but his Telecaster is awesome.

  • That's not a Fender Pete's playing. It's a Schecter, most likely built from spare parts by UK luthier Roger Griffin. Pete had several of these guitars that he used from 79 to sometime in the mid 80's.

Roger, for the record, appears to be playing a vintage Fender Esquire, which was the one pickup version of the Telecaster.

  • Nope, it's a Fender Telecaster limited edition

  • Are you talking about Roger's guitar or Pete's? Pete's is most definitely not a Fender. That's a known fact. In the early 80's, Pete was playing guitars built from Schecter spare parts, usually made by Roger Griffin.

Roger's appears to be a Fender Esquire. I've never heard of Fender making limited edition models prior to the establishment of the Custom Shop, which didn't come until the late 80's, after CBS sold the company.

  • Alden 21, I know that guitar you are speaking of. Fender made it from about 81 to 1983 and had a Strat series as well called THE ELITE SERIES and both models were dressed in Black. What Pete is playing here is indeed a Schecter but is almost identical to the instruments you are thinking of.

  • rocking roger with the air guitar!

  • Roger is playing on this tune. He has always played guitar on this tune. Roger played guitar in the early bands that eventually became the Who. He is low in the mix, but Roger's guitar parts are there

  • Grease is the word for Pistol Pete!

  • This as the first concert I ever went to, The Who, The Clash, still the best show I've ever seen since.

  • 3:19 hahahahaaaaaaa!!!!!

  • I was at this concert. I have the whole concert on DVD. It's awesome. The Clash opened for the Who.

  • The Clash opened for The Who? Jayzus H. I would have given both nuts to be at that show. Wow!

  • I personally wouldnt go that far, but I'd have paid damn good money to go.

  • damn, me too! what a combo!

  • the best version man!!

check the fucking bass tune of john

    this version rocks!

    john and keith R.I.P

  • Good sound on this. Thanks for uploading it.

  • Pete looks like Al bundy from love and marriage haha

    love the song though

  • John Entwistle is great.

  • was................sorry

  • @jeiluifang i haven't seen any other bassists play the bass like it should be played.

  • Pete looks like Ross from "Friends"

  • PETE IS ABSOLUTELY CUTE AND SEXY.OMG !

  • I wish they did that song today so I can watch them live T_T

  • oh my god, that vibrato when he sats sunshine.. ughghghg. so fucking great.

  • badass lol to bad i wasnt alive at the time

  • Imba.

  • Pete has a pretty good voice actually.

  • this is by far the best live version of this song, rogers really feels it on this one and nails it perfect, i can feel the vibes through the screen! bravo

  • As an ol Rocker, this jam takes me back. The Who really made this song flow. Lyrics tell it, Pete and the others are just jamming.

  • rogers actually a really skilled guitarist.

back in the 60s when the who were called the detours (before moonie joined) he was lead guitarist

  • love this song, the guy that sings and plays guitar looks like Al Bundy in love and marriage

  • Actually looks like ross from friends

  • LOL omg your right!

  • Don't mean to flame you dude, but "that guy" is Pete Townshend, one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters ever.

  • The sheer amount of testosterone in this song man. It's almost as manly as Foxy Lady.

  • This was such a good concert. The memories I have .....Neat that the concert itself was taped.

  • Great intro pete. RIP john entwhistle.

  • Baba O'Reilly, Sister Disco, and this song are my favorites by The Who. They have so many more good songs, though.

  • whats this song about? I cant figure it out.

  • its all a fake and fraud....we are hiding from the truth

  • my opinion about the people behind the scenes pulling the strings, making the secret agendas, the distractions to keep our minds and us occupied seeking satisfaction in our materialistic society, we are are all be led one way or another influenced by the media, how short peoples memory of history; in my opinion......

  • Okay, pete has said himself, its "what happens when you do too much white powder", or too much blow, you put up a guise or illusion of royalty or status or some bullshit youre not. too much coke= eminence front

  • THE 80's RULE!

    copy and paste please!

  • not much shots of entwistle... the bass is fantastic in this

  • yeah, Entwistle was a great bassist...

  • i think this was one of their best...do you?

  • they were fucking peaking man

  • Great song! Thanks for uploading this video!

  • Pete is so 80's right here!

  • Absolutely awesome!

  • Wish I was alive to see the Who play the Kingdome.

  • I was at this concert (18 years old) in the Kingdome with a Buddy of mine! The Clash and T-Bone Burnett opened! What A Great Time! I was up on the 3 rd level and watched the crowd just move in waves. Loved It!

  • Pete's not mailing this performance in. Kenny sounds good too. And of course Entwistle. Really grooving on this song. 82 had its moments.

  • I saw this tour in Biloxi M.S. in December of 82. Towards the end of the 3 hour set my friend and I got as close to Pete (God) as we could and saw that his fingers were bleeding. We looked at one another and knew,at that moment, what rock and roll was what it should be.

  • wow...I love that comprehensive coverage of John Entwistle...

  • i know what u mean, the man had an amazing bassline in this song, he shud get some coverage too

  • Killer rif, killer show....three shows at the kingdome , the clash opened ...their fairwell tour

  • Dedicate this song to Lehman Bros....

  • ALL politicians....Time for a Boston Tea Party

  • Seriously, one of the best songs ever made!

  • Pete and the WHo had an album come out at the same time and I was a poor college student. I had to buy the Who for this one song and then a few weeks later get the Pete album I overall wanted but didn't have this one song.

  • love it , awsome song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Had a big fight with my parents about going to this show. I lost. So nice to have it here,.......Thanks!! I'm still pissed!!

  • how can get this video or mp3 PLEASE i love it
