This song chart-wise deserved a better fate. It peaked on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts on Billboard at a paltry #110 in 1983. Quite a travesty, honestly. It should have at least been a Hot 100 single for Pia, now she's a one-hit wonder thanks to The Clapping Song. Sometimes I don't know what makes these Program Directors tick anymore. Still, a killer rock track!
What's the name of the original album? I looked everywhere (via All Music Guide & iTunes) & its original album is not there. It's on a couple compilation discs (none by Pia Zadora) but its original album is obvious not on CD. Can't believe this song actually was nominated for a Grammy for Best Female ROCK Song in 84. Nowadays any AOR radio station would stay clear of it & call it the "kiss of death"!! I'll say this - it's better than any of the pop crap that's on the radio, MTV or VH-1 today!!
I love this song but the Foxy Elvira was right: the video is just soo Cheesy! LOL. I saw Pia do this on Solid Gold & she had a bunch of half naked pseudo biker dudes swarming all over her on a Harley while Jermaine wailed away on guitar. It totally rocked. Somebody needs to post THAT version!
She's lucky she had a nice body...
