@TrevorWTillman No Shit Sherlock...he never said he wrote it. It's a fantastic rocked up version Ray Charles' classic song. JLL obviously has an affection for Ray Charles' talent as he recorded several of his friend's songs. And, btw, Ray Charles also covered many other artists songs...did he steal them? SO SUCK IT HATER!
This is THE best version of What d´I say ever. JLL completsly rules the piano here. Awesome. There is no one who can master the piano with the same style and attitude.
Priceless stuff from The Killer. That's how I want to remember him,a consummate professional and at his absolute zenith. I had tickets to see him for his first UK tour in 58,but sadly it was one of the shows that was cancelled due to the scandal, but he more than made up for the disappointment when I saw him on his return in 62.
It's sad to watch a legend slowly fade....however, as you can see here he could rock with the best of them, roll with the rest of them ! I saw him play in Columbia,SC about 1970, in a large country-type night club, he was a little late but had the crowd standing & screaming. It was worth the money my friend !
Jerry was so on top of his game at the end of the 60's...unfortunately, he started drinking heavily a short while later, and some of his early 70's performances suffered as a result. But to see him like this, clean, sober and ready to kick ass...what a thrill :)

This is when he still had his youthful edge, and frustration from the marriage thing. This is my favorite era for him.

The original ray charles is soooooo much better,
but jerry lee lewis is definately not a bad performer
I just think he overdoes it a little bit. He could be a little more subtle.
