Having pretty much grown up in the forest, I lived in a small town right next to the forest, spent most of my youth on a bike, outdoors, playing and having fun. As much as I loved my childhood and feel it to be somewhat of a shame that kids these days aren't as interested in playing outdoors, I feel that playing in the forest or experiencing the world in other ways makes no difference. As I said, grew up in the countryside in the 80s. I have Bipolar Disorder and ADD. Didn't work for me at least.
