You guys really do read too much into solely the sounds guinea pigs make. I mean their whole vocabulary is wheek-peep-brrr. When you can only make three sounds, you are going to use them in different scenarios. You have to read posture and temperament a lot... but, I think when she says "You smell pickles on my hand?" she was probably referring to a female guinea pig.

you do realise that's not purring right? that means they're not happy, purring is a much lower, less frequent little squeak. when they vibrate like that it's the equivalent of them growling.

to my pig, it means its mad. i have 2 guinea pigs everyone thinks they are girls, but im not sure because they act like boys- but anyways one of them growls at the other and walks around all territorialy and kicks the other one of its hidey house thing so yeah im pretty sure it means its mad it also does that noise when i pet it the wrong way, like from back to front-it doesnt like the feeling so yeah i think your wrong but its just from my experience it could be different for you

I had my boar on my lap when I first clicked on this and he ran up to the screen, chattering his teeth! I defiantly think it's a dominance thing as when there is another boar around, my male does the exact same thing!

Though he also does a similar thing to my sow.

Oh and such a pretty pig you have there. He is what we call a "Panda Pig"; I hope I get to have one one day. Though my female is pregnant with my male. And she is mostly black while he is black and white, so who knows?

@temptressro2 It's not because he is horny. ALL males do that, even to other males. It's purely dominance, and that is them marking their territory. You are right, that musky smell is one of the worst smells I've ever smelled, but I'm used to it by now. My pigs remark their cage everytime I clean it out. Obviously females can't makr territory like that, but they are known to squirt their pee instead. BOTH males and females rumblestrutt (the moving the butt back and forth dance you talked about).

I just got two males, they are about 6 months old and one is constantly making the noise from the first 20 seconds and the other one just stares at him... they have never fought, but im wondering if this is a show of dominance?

its called "rumble strutting"  Males do it the most often, but some females do it too...it is a sign of dominance and males often use as a courting to the females...hope this helps! I used to breed and show Peruvian and Teddy guinea pigs : )

He is not horny or scarred. It's called rumblestrutting. The purring sounds, whirrling squeeks, and the moving the butt back in forth dance is strickly a sign of dominance.

He probably smells another guinea pig in the area.

My two Guinea Pig females does that all the time. But their both diong it, so I don't know what that means exactly. If it's about dominance then their not quite sure who is the "boss". I have my guinea pigs 2,5 weeks and they know each other not for a long time, just as long as i've got them. I hope someone can help me with that because I want to understand them :)
