Wow, this is really some great vocal acting here from Gencer. I must admit being sadly ignorant of her singing. It isn't always the prettiest of voices- but she sings with convictions and real drama.

In my opinion, Gencer was one of the greatest sopranos of the 20th century. Like Marisa Galvany, she could sing practically anything...and sing it well. To my dying day, I will never understand why she was ignored by the recording companies. Thank God for all the pirated operas and concerts that preserve her art for posterity. She had many rivals but precious few equals. Thank you for this video. FIVE STARS.
