  • why you have two head

  • 4 channels?

  • is this a channel switching amp, and if so, can you do it by footswitch

  • yes, and another yes

  • What are your amp settings for both clean and dirty? Great tone. Keep up the good work.

  • sorry i cant remember, i recorded this video 3 years ago. But if you watch my video titled "Laney VH100R sound again" or also my latest video called "jamming over a Hall & Oates tune", you'll see some better playing and much better dirty tone. I usually keep it presence 0 treble 5 middle 8 bass 8 gain 10 drive 4 or a bit lower on clean sounds i back off the middle to 5 and add some treble to 6, it works with my guitar and cab

  • @AndyVerok

Hello, why do you keep prsence at 0?

    It is a bit strange!

  • @sydilligaf I'm guessing its because this is quite a bright amp, and actually I know quite a few guitar players that keep their presence on 0.

  • I can't find info ANYWHERE on what the footswitch for this amp controls (even on the official site). Help!

  • it is a 4 button footswitch. One switches between the clean and overdrive channel, there is a boost switch for both 2 channels and on for the reverb on or off. If you would have just google an image of it, you would have seen it clear:)

  • it has pne channel and a boost for more drive. I think it can be used very well for cleaner tone if you roll back your guitars volume knob, like Richie Kotzen and Paul Gilbert do.

I advised you the GH50L because it is cheaper and in punkrock/popunk/hardcore music i wouldnt use much clean tones:)

just my opinion. Of course the VH100R could easily handle the job if you would like it better

  • it really does:)

  • it is, but you really don't need a 4 channel amp for playing that kind of music, a much simpler, for example if you want a Laney a GH50L would be plenty enough for my opinion

  • that crunch sound in the beginning makes it sound the like all the notes are being choked to death, makes me cringe.

  • it is not the best sound it can do i made this vid a long ago, if you watch my other vids you will hear much better tones from this amp

  • My God, its like having a Ferrari and driving 10 MPH....turn that thing up !!! Thats the only way to get real good harmonic distortion.

  • yes it is true i absolutely agree with you, but if i had it turned up, my neighbours would have been knocking on my door in 2 seconds...and also the camera mic were clipping so bad, that the whole audio of the video would have been completely useless

I made another video a year later after this, i think it is a far better tone still on bedroom volume, check it out if you like

  • whats the price of that amp?

  • google is your friend...i guess it is not exactly the same in every shop

  • i searched in google irs say that was descontinued...and wannna know how much did you paid for that amp lol not how much he costs now...

thank you and sry bad english...

  • okay, thats much clearer this way:)

i bought it used on ebay about 550 euros about 3 years ago.

If you check out the review of this amp on harmony-central you'll see how much those guys got it for, so you can get an idea

  • oh ok thank you very much ;)

  • make sure to check out my other video of this amp, "Laney VH100R sound again", because there i play it with a cabinet loaded with celestion speakers and in my opinion it sounds way better that way

  • you've got great chops man but you should start playing w/ a metronome. it will take you to a new level once you get used to it. great tapping licks btw!

  • absolutely true thanks for the advice:)

check out my other videos fofr some improvement in the playing, this vid was recorded more than 2 years ago, i think i improved a bit since then, this was my first ever youtube vid. There is another Laney kind of demo vid among my vids

  • How much all that costs? O_O

  • not that much as you think. i got everything from ebay except the cab.

    Laney 1100$

    Carvin 600$

    Ibanez SA lefty 400$

    Handmade cab 535$

check their new prices, you'll be suprised :)

  • Whoaa! That's too much for me... Got my new Jackson DK-2 and I'm planning on Laney MDX 30 or something like that... :D

PS: It's not sloppy playing, it's sound cool :D

  • thanks bro, but if you check out my other vid of the Laney "Laney VH100R sound again" you can compare the playing, the other vid is a year and a half after this.

And i think it is a good thing not to spend big bucks on equipment, if you can play anything sounds good in your hands and whats more you'll get much more respect about it too, so it is much cheaper to concentrate on the playing, not on spending a lot of money on equipment. So good luck bro!

  • I copmletely agree! :D

But it's not bad to have a good amp eaither :D

  • well now i know what this amp sounds like when the volume is at 1 0_o

  • it can sound way better than this, when you reach 1,5 or 2 it is a completely different animal

In my other vid of the amp, you can hear a much better sound, also at very very low volume

  • thanks, but watch my other video of it also if you want to hear what this is capable to, through a different cabinet and a bit better plaing after 1,5 years of this:)

  • dang you got a frickin pyramid there in your room.

    niiiice

  • now it is reduced to only to the Laney head and another 2x12 cab and a Furman:)

  • :) Köszi!

Hát próba terembe kéne dob mellé, és lehetőleg olyan cuccot szeretnék, aminek megvan a csöves lágy hangzása, 120W bőven jól jönne, mer jelen pillanatban folyton elnyomják a kis 30Wos 25 éves kombómat. Köszi előre is :)

  • Heló! NAgyon jóü videó!!!

Tudsz mondani véleményt a Laney TF300 as 120Wos előfokcsöves kombókról?

Esetleg valamelyik videón úgy hallható a hangja?

    Köszi!

    D.

  • szia

Érdekelne milyennek találtad a hangját...netán valamelyik videódon 6L6-os hang hallható? Köszi...

  • nope, it was around 400$ on ebay, maybe now it is more expensive, cause it is no longer made, i think it is discontinued since 2000 or something like that

  • Does the bridge on the Ibanez cause any problems??

  • it is like a regular 2 point trem on cheap guitars, you can use it for a little while, after that it will not stay in tune perfectly, it is recommended to change it to a wilkinson or something i think if you really want to use the bar. I play it like a fixed bridge guitar, put in 5 springs to pull the bridge totally back, it stays in tune perfectly this way and to be honest i dont really miss the bar i can easily live without it

  • alright thanks

  • iommi definitely uses his signature amp most of the time... I don't think he uses the vh100r.

  • how does it amp compares to a GH100L ?? or GH50L ? in terms of tone , not functionality (i personnaly don't care about the fact i have only one channel, the only thing that matters is tone)

  • unfortunately i have never tried the GH series, but they must be similar, maybe the GHs have a bit more gain..and yeah its no probelm you have only one channel, it cleans up nicely if you turn the volume knob down on your guitar

  • a friend of mine told me the GH series preamp is based on the VH100R preamp but single channel

so i'm really thinkin' about a GH50L and a greenback 4x12 (to smoothen my tone a bit)

  • sounds like it cuts out of notes with out a pedal ?? it sounds good but sounds weak coming to lead.

  • The GH100TI amp is Tony Iommi's signature model.

  • Yeah but I think he still uses a VH100R most of the time. I've definitely seen him use this one live more than once, cos I went 'I want that fucking amp'... and his guitar, big up the lefties!

  • i got that amp to, but i don't out much sound that i like. andy timmons had this amp, and i realey like that sound he had back in those days, anyone got and tip about how i can get that sound he got in songs like "carpe diem"? this is my first real amp so, i don't know mutch about this

  • Andy Timmons tone.. very nice!

  • tony iommi uses the same head

  • i thought he uses his signature laney GH100TI head

  • he does

  • is that head good for death metal ?? i want a lots of mids and a really "raw" sound like bands such as dismember.

  • i have a really brutal-sounding guitar with EMGs on it and another one with a seymour duncan invader so i think gain wouldn't be a problem . does it amp likes overdrive and distortion pedals ???

  • it think it is good for metal, considering the fact that bands like Opeth, John 5 from Manson, Mattias Eklundh from Freak Kitchen and Mastodon use them, just to name a few:)

Mattias Eklundh have a little video where he speaks about this amp, it really worth wathcing..brutal tone

  • ok ;) i have a good deal on one of these babies , i think i'll go for it (i'm a mastodon fan )

  • At 1:16 you come up with a beautiful, spontaneous melodic moment.i love it hahah :D:D write music man, you've got it!!

  • sounds the same as every other guitarist...if you're going to moan about talented guitarists like Lynch then you've got to have something that's not mediocre...you're not bad though...

  • I have a Laney TT100H i love Laney, Very nice friend!!

  • Hol játszol?:) egész jól kened:) qrva jól szól a cucc:D használd egézséggel:D

  • 5 star man! messy playing, but i love laney, english-built amps kick so much ass its un-true!!!

    keep-up the rocking work!

  • You just wish you had a pink guitar ;)

  • It's funny that both you and your brother are both lefties.

  • Ok, play something really heavy then :D

  • And the cleans were a little too "dry".

  • they are npt that dry, it is just the cameras mic that is not deliver how it really is

Im changing tubes, so i will post another test to see how it sounds like with tehm

  • i like those tones, liked the playing too

  • You have the same guitar as me :D :D :D. But yours is left handed :P

  • i like this guitar a lot, but actually it is my brothers guitar, i have an RG which i upgraded a bit, it is older than this one, i played it much much more, so im kind of more attached to the RG that is my favourite, but the SA sound a bit rounder because of the mahogany body and the single neck pu kicks stratocaster ass in my opinion:)

  • I cant understand you, but thanks alot for the clip, I've been waiting for a really good clip of the amp. I'm considering buying one, and I cannot try one because Laney's US distribution SUCKS and nobody stocks them.

I have an old Laney Pro Tube which I like, but I think its time to upgrade. Thanks!

  • Nice! You could've played some really hard heavy riffing, too.

  • I really liked the clean sound and the tapping part was probably one of my favourites!

It's nice to see a left-handed guitarist like you too^^

  • thanks for the kind words, im glad you liked the video

  • how is the bass on the amp.
