Most people cant adopt dogs from shelters cause of all there rules, cant have kids under this age, and whatever else they got and turn alot of people away for silly/stupid to good reasons depending on person. Thats why people shell out more money for a pet store puppy, because all they have to do is heres the money now give me my puppy, plus they can do instalment plans by 50 bucks a month as an example! Or they go other abouts getting a dog outside shelter setting. Which is more of the problem!

A lot of shelters don't do this. They do have rules, but they aren't insane rules. The problem is that people want to sacrifice health and safety over their need to impulse buy these dogs. Most puppy mill dogs ARE NOT HEALTHY. Is it really worth initially paying $2K for that Yorkie Puppy that came from a mill, and you're going to pay thousands more for vet bills and trainers, all over rules?

@estring628 Call by law to pick them up, or call places like spca and things like that and talk to them about it, and see what your options are really to help them, you can buy dog food and feed them and fresh water out for them, and can try brushing there coat or bathing them if you wanted too, or they need to be taken away where they will have a chance but there is a chance they might be put down, can always try talking to the owners or something, theres alot you can do, need to see whats best

Back in 1997, my wife fell in love with a sheltie at a pet store in the mall. I was opposed to another dog, as we already had a lab. However, after two weeks and my wife saying they had transferred the dog 2x between two separate stores in the chain, I went to see this dog. I was obviously the runt and after spending the 1st 6 months of its life confined to a small cage, the spinning was evident. I bought the dog. Named it "Twister." He's now 12 and he still twists, but is happyandhealthy!

Not all pet stores buy from puppy mills. This is a common misconception. Some stores actually use select breeders only now due to people complaining about the mills. Good video though, I hate puppy mills too.

Backyard breeders are bad too. I lived next door to one. The labs were kept outdoors most of the time, the owners rarely played with or exercised the dogs. The dogs barked constantly. Out of several acres only a small portion was available to them. The labs were inbred with parents mating with offspring. They now have a dozen small dogs. All of whom are barkers. These people bring their dogs for sale to the local wal-mart parking lot. Don't buy them, don't support their dogs misery.

what's stupid is the fact that if the puppy mill's puppies aren't sold, the puppies get killed as well. the puppies and the adult dogs who are at the mills both get killed. i hate to say this, but isn't it better to at least save one puppy from the petstore before they get killed? it's just my opinion so don't get mad ;~;

What is frustrating is how stupid government is. They are trying to pass mandatory spay neuter laws that penalize people who care for their dogs because of pet overpopulation. If they spent that energy targeting the mills first and foremost, they would be doing a more effective job against overpopulation. Pathetic.

it's wonderful that you love dogs...but remember you have responsibility for their health and happiness. if you have even one dog medical bills can run into the thousands per year, not even counting food. if you truly love dogs - adopt only as many animals as you can truly care for. people ARE fighting to end puppy mills, the problem is the laws that protect the mills. food, shelter and water are pretty much the only things the law really requires. the desucting condiotions can be stopped,and often are, the millers then pack up their dogs switch states and start again.

Idon't support puppy mills. There should be a law put in place to stop this. I also do not support a kill shelter. There should be a law against that also.
