I own an R3, and though it was kind of stupid for me to not wait till it lowered in price, I still stand by saying it's the best $700 I've ever spent. (Some are going for nearly $500 now, though)
hollllllllllllllly macarroni.. dude did you really paid that much.. I bought one brand new for 250 at ebay was stupid enough to sell it for 310 and regret latter on to buy it again for 350 dumb f me.. lol but 700 that more than what I paid for my second motif. I just got one of these...I am wondering if there are any forums where people share the presets that they make? I am looking for one that sounds like various keyboards (Hammond, Rhodes, etc...)
I don´t remember right now, but theres a forum were people post de full keyboard preset using de R3 Software... the forum its related to the RADIAS also.
it's also a MIDI controller, but in the video I'm just recording, it is not connectec via MIDI to the computer. The R3 it's better cause it has real size keys and the RADIAS engine.
How do I get my external sounds to play out my computer speakers and record on my studio program. I already have an audio interface, but what holes do i plug the wires in the get the external sounds out my korg r3. I appreciate it if anybody can help me out
Alright thanks, I see what your saying about the outputs left and right, But i have a usb audio interface, So I would have to install driver if i have a usb interface?
How is your audio interface??? a Midi USB or a soundblaster external card like??
If it's a Midi USB you should install the driver, and whe you connect de R3 you would be able to use it as a MIDI controller, but the R3 sounds are only hearable from the outpust, no from the midi.
++answer to youyoude "... You actually even could get sounds out of it and of yourself, which might be more interesting, than the simple sound I presented here, what helps people to decide to buy this synth, or not."
Well, how about this? (; - I just want to tell you, not to care about such idiots, but if they try to offend you, then slap back!

Oh, and about youyoude... If I were you, I had answered something like this: "Poor pathetic guy, If you don't have any friends, what I can tell from your comment, go play with your dick. Wouldn't that be much more fun for you?"
Jajaja que pasa putito? No sabes ni tocar la guitarra. Franchute de mierda!!
I was just showing up how to play a simple sound, your comment only said you don't have friends, and also you don't kwno anything about music or sounds.
When you play music through and Amp, it's deliver 20hz-20Khz for example.
When you connect any instrument to your computer you soundcar take the leade and it converted to the SAMPLE RATE you desire (44.1 48 96) and the BIT DEPTH (16bit 24bit).
Better you soundcard, better the quality.
So the quality does not depende from the synth, it does it your soundcard.
I record at 16bit 48Khz. You can listen for my songs at iLike Artist: Iugis Vespera.
Each song was recorded @ my house with Sonar.Enjoy
So... Is there any information about the sound's quality that R3 creates (That's what I need). For example if we take a raw SAWTOOHT wave, and play anything on the keyboard, and connect it to the pc's analog line-in input, then at what bit rate, and frequency range should we record it at, with the help of GOLDWAVE for example? What is the maximum? Or is there no such thing in a synth?
As is said before, the output is fully analog, not the way the sound it's created. The output it's like a Music Player or an iPod. Digital means that transmit signals to the computer, this is just sound.
U can use any mixer, because you are recording sound, music. Then the computer make the job converting sound into 24bit 48kHz or 16bit
2 Fx True
Negative: only 8 poliphony voices. Buy the Korg Radis if u can afford it.
- If I'm using 2 timbres, is it possible that I send only one of the timbres through the master effect? Or If I use a master FX, do I have to send both timbres through it?
How come those Moog synthesizers are much more expensive?
On the other hand -> Awesome!
Perfect Analog
Thanks!
Tip: Expressive bass sound recepie:
- Osc1: SAW,4oct,-2tune
- Osc2: Square,2oct,+4tune
- The amp. level of both oscillators should be the same. +Play around with the other parameters.
- Finally, send the sound through a chorus or a flanger effect, then through a nice phaser, and finally send it through a hall reverbation as the MASTER effect.
the R3 uses MMT synthesis, which is still digital, to make the sounds smoother, so that there aren't the digital artifacts from that of other virtuals
in other words, the R3 is digital-virtual-analog that does a very good job at being analog-ish and is an excellent instrument
What I exactly wanted to know, was the sound quality, the L/mono and R outputs provide... 16bit at 44100Hz or maybe 24bit at 48kHz? you know...
I know how a/an (virtual)analog synthesizer works. Yet I'm a Reason user, and I'm quiet experianced in It. I use the "Subtractor" device only for making sounds. I create analog synth sounds, and drum sounds as well.
As I could hear, you used a square wave at 0:50 for example. - Just in case you wouldn't believe, I'm experienced in this.
This is a fully analog synth (not virtual like the vst wich are digital) the output is like a an electric guitar sound. Computer soundcards provides 16 bit 44100 or higher quality, because they make the conversion from analog to digital.
I'm going to buy an R3 this summer but I must know the Sythesizer's sampling rate. I mean ex. if I'd like to record some sounds from it to my pc, then what's the highest sampling rate it provides?
Please Comment it like this: SAMPLING RATE> 32bit at 192kHz for example.
this synth does not record sounds, yo made them from Wave Shape sounds, this means that you take a SINE form and changing lots of parameters, you get your own sounds.
so it comes with a disc to put into your computer..... is it mac compatible ?

If the keys are broken, I think that the Korg R3 you are going to purchase it has been very bad treated...I don't recommend it.

it's a pedal case, wich fits perfectly well with my Korg R3, it custom made.

This synth will be part of my studio.
The sound quality is impressive.
The best thing is, I can record 24bit/96kHz in future with my AUDIGY 4.
I was thinking of building the mixer myself, cause I can't find the perfect one, on the other hand, this problem will be solved too.
++ Did you try the "expressive bass" recepie?
paluchrob 3 years ago
Your expressive bass sounds great, you soon will be able to play around with the Korg R3 and the PC editor wich is a really cool tool for the synth.
nachoscuro 3 years ago
These are the things I'm going to buy in the next three years:
- Korg RADIAS (complete)
- Korg EMX-1 (I hope this one can be used to sequence the other devices)
- Korg R3 (coming this summer)
- Behringer DEQ2496 (Mastering Device)
- MIXER...??? (don't know yet)
They wrote the RADIAS has 48kHz sampling rate
MMT=Digital, so ??bit at ??kHz

Ok, now I really want to know the Outputs' quality. I hope they can do 24bit 48kHz (or 16bit 41kHz minimum).
...So If I use a Master effect, then both timbres must go through it. Hmmm... That's a bit dissapointing as well as that It's not analog ):
I need the quality information. I Just can't believe that they don't inform customers about this.
Oh, and what kind of MIXER do you use?
As I read information about the R3 I found out that 1 timbre has 2 IFX's - Ture Or Not?
Sorry for bothering..

A newer question, which came to my mind:
- If I'm using 2 timbres, is it possible that I send only one of the timbres through the master effect? Or If I use a master FX, do I have to send both timbres through it?
Ex: Timbre 1 => Master FX Reverb = L,R Output Timbre 2 => FX1, FX2 =>L,R Output
paluchrob 3 years ago
each timbre has it's own effect, and then you have the master effect for both timbres.
timbre1=>Delay
timbre2=>drive
Master FX=>Reverb Hall

Really? 100% analog?
How come those Moog synthesizers are much more expensive?

This is a fully analog synth (not virtual like the vst wich are digital) the output is like a an electric guitar sound. Computer soundcards provides 16 bit 44100 or higher quality, because they make the conversion from analog to digital.
In my R3 manual--->
OUTPUT: Connector 1/4" phone stereo jack
output impedance: 1.1[kohm]
Max output level: +7.5[dBu] or more
Load impedance: 33[ohm]
The R3 has a great unic quality sound.
Ask again if you need!
nachoscuro 3 years ago
The R3 isn't analog, it uses MMT digital synthesis based off of the OASYS' synthesis programs to get its sound.
