wtf! That was so not Lang-like. Why on earth did he just play the same riff over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over?
If yer tryin to compare Lang and Mayer (coming from a HUGE Lang fan), Lang will never touch Mayer's guitar playing, and Mayer will never touch Lang's vocals.
i did sound at a lang show. His solos are all repetitive and i really felt like he didn't connect with the guitar at all. I think Lang gets sickening quick. He had a siiiick organ player though, drummer too, spot on. Anyway,i think lang's overrated.
The beginning of his guitar solo was almost like he had a brain fart and spaced out on what he was going to do next. lol. he sounds like a Big Black Man stuck in skinny white boy's body.
Nobody notices but me, but he started that solo on the wrong beat. Rhythmically, the musicality of it is off a bit. I've seen him do kick ass solos though. The only guy that can outjam him is Ben Harper.
I was at this concert. HardRockingSteel....the recording doesnt do him justice..the solo fit. The riff in the beginning is extended but similar to that in the studio recording. He came back to louisville a couple months later on the riverfront and was awesome again. He played this song again, totally different solo..he plays what he feels rather than try to mimic the studio recording like some artists - thats what makes him great.
I live in Louisville and was at this concert. In responce to HardRockingSteel...the solo isn't done justice by the recording. Its heard to hear the rest of the band - but believe me, the solo fit. It came off really well. In fact with the exception of the extended riff in the begining it is very similar to the studio recording. He was back in Louisville two months later down on the riverfront and he was awesome again...totally different solo to that song!
hes good but this solo was terrible. what was that, like a 3 not arpeggio for like 2 and a half minutes? dont get me wrong jonny is awesome but this isnt his best work
I have to disagree with the poster of this video as it is one of the worst solos I've ever heard him do and doesn't work for me within the confines of this song. But as usual Jonny always plays with a ton of emotion and heart and even though this is nowhere near his best work its probably better than most including myself could do.
I love Jonny and I've seen him live several times over the years starting from when he was only about 16 and playing with more of a guitar hero Stevie Ray style, he has matured so much and become much more song and vocals oriented sometimes too much so that its a detriment to his guitar playing.

amazing guitar solo?
search for "covered in rain" to hear the solo in the middle of the song. Now that's amazing.

This kid is good...Unless I'm mistaken, the background music sounds like a 70's Isley Bros tune...

"Amazing" isn't a good enough word for Jonny Lang's talents. He's so great and he's so young.
