seeing obama as the culmination of the civil rights movement is a little misleading; in a more substantial way it can be seen as the death of the civil rights movement. the movement is now overwhelmed by official policy, instead of demanding better conditions like mlk, the movement stagnates, leaving the conditions of those suffering up to the usual suspects: sell-out politicians and capital owners, who care about nothing but their own self interest

The thing is Obama COULD be a Great President, but everything he has said, things he has done, and people he has surrounded himself with (many Zionists) suggests otherwise. The reason so many Americans get their red, white and blue boxers in a bunch about Rev. Wright is because of the 3 things that America has long been sensitive about: Nationalism, Religion and Race. Reverend Wright touched on all three things. Being a former soldier who fell victim to the atrocities and hypocrisy America preached and sent him to wars to defend, Wright was an authority on what the Bible condemned in past and he compared it to 9/11. The average American is too traumatized to see.

again big deal, they seem to be quelling the dissatisfaction of the population with empty symbolism, not an unknown tactic of washington and the media. a minority president being elected is certainly a symbolic change, but how much good will that do while the same policies continue to be implemented, making the situation worse and worse. to me this is a misuse of race and the suffering of those in the civil rights movements; its like zionists using the holocaust to carry out mass crimes.

US society really needed to feel good about itself for a long time, this seemed to be a way to channel those feelings of dissatisfaction and shame with US policy into an official sphere (obama) that relegates the populations contribution to voting on one day, celebrating, with no real challenge to the shameful policies that continue. the election was a media extravaganza that completely disinformed the population and obama's campaign was nothing but misleading advertisements.

in a way, the symbolism of obamas election may allow customs of ethnic acceptance in the US to develop among the people themselves, which of course is a good thing, but poses no threat to the ruling status quo and the worship of self interest that is tearing the world apart.

As an American, who voted for Obama (along with all of my friends), i would like to apologize to the world for our colossal mess up in Iraq and in general with our dealing with the Muslim world. I don't know any one who is in favor of us staying in Iraq. BUT i don't know a single American who isn't still pissed off about 911 and doesn't blame Afghanistan. We have remorse for what we did in Iraq, but we ARE angry that we haven't done more in Afghanistan and to the Taliban. No sympathy there.
