First off you have to be 15 to work on a USHRA Modofied truck and be 19 to drive one but nice try, Im 15 and just got a Mechanical Degree with Taz in the USHRA..
Nice driving there! Piloting a 1000+hp beast looks like a blast. Im 14, I drove an m3 once and pushed it until 50mph, but YOU got the chance to jump the beast! You are awesome. I wish I had the chance to do that. I have a passion for engines and cars, never been to Monster Jam before but looks like one hell of an experience. Do the monster trucks geneally run on alcohol? How large are the engines in terms of displacement? You let me drive that beast Ill let you drive the m3 :) LOL.
Yeah, trouble is I live in the UK and there aren't really any MT drivers around here! And I don't go to school... I'm home-schooled. But I know how engines work, and about cars. Easy when your dad's a hot-rodder! I suppose I might e-mail Jimmy Creten in Monster Jam... I heard he's desperate for a new driver for Iron Outlaw. If you want to do something enough, you can do it. Thanks, Murph!
Plus, I have a natural apititude for controlling things, RC cars and my PS2 for example. I have a perfect driving position in my pap's Merc, and I'm a quick learner and good at remembering stuff. So it's more than likely I can get the hang of the safety features, ignition, repairs, etc. Trust me, if I can get into one of these trucks and get aquainted with it, you'll have a freestyle to remember. Can you at least help me get into this business, Murph? I'm asking you nicely. =)
Teams sometimes need drivers, but they travel...check MT fan or industry websites. But finish school ! & learn all u can bout mechanics. I started in shows 2 mths. after turning 14, but that's highly unusual. Mayb u can find a MT driver in ur area that needs help around the shop to teach u. U have the want to. Dream big - Murph
Hey Murph, is there any chance I could drive? I'm 13, one year younger, and a massive Monster Jam fan. I'm 5'7, and really good at driving on MT games...! How can I get to drive? Thanks.
So in this clip..... how much of this is you and how much of it is the other driver? and... I see your from AZ but.... how was you legal to drive, especially something THAT HUGE at the age of 14... Dont you have to be 16 to drive in AZ? I mean thats way under the legal driving age lol? Just wondering.. But thats cool.... ^_^
That's all me. I've been almost 6'3" since I was 12, so people assume I'm older and promoters trust my ability and safety features. I grew up in the business, loading the truck in the trailer forever.Monster trucks aren't street legal, strictly off-road...motorsports. Just like off-road motorcycles, kid quarter midget and midget car racers. I'm just lucky my Dad owns his own monster truck! But they are too expensive to practice with so it's all showtime learning. Thanks for the interest. -MURPH
Yeah, I bet there is alot of safety features and things you have to do to be able to drive and all that.. Speaking of driving.. How the heck can you tell where your going since your so high up in the air? I mean driving it looks all you could see is the hood of the truck... So it looks like it would be hard to tell if your driving over a hill or a pile of Cars or etc. And not another human :-x ( even though theres prob no anyone on the track when yall are on it ) but It just seems scary :P -Cm
The firewall of the truck is made out of lexan(plastic glass) so i can pretty much see what is underneath me. its still kind of hard to tell where i am though. I just guess where i am and pick out landmarks. I also see what i am going to hit from far away. An d there is also pretty much noone on the track while the trucks are going.-Murph
Thanks!...Our monster truck is McGruff the Crime Dog. My Dad and I share driving it now. He's been driving monsters for over 14 years and he taught me to drive McGruff when I was 11 years old.
What not comments? Fine i'll pop the comment cherry. You're the worst driver ever!!! Damn i couldnt even type that with a straight face. I already told you that you kick ass so dont cry. lol
