  • I am curious how old his dogs lived to and if they had health problems later on from the repetitive activities. My now retired vet noticed a significant increase in spondylosis since agility and fly ball started, due to the repetitive nature of some of the movements.

  • @supernaturalbc2009 - As far as I know, they lived long, healthy lives. These are some of the main foundations of the Australian Shepherd breed. I have a dog that's very much a throwback to these animals in size, weight, and attitude and at 9 she has no injuries and maintains a high level of enthusiasm and performance in agility, stockdog, frisbee, and adventuring.

  • @maculated Thanks!

  • You choosed THE good music !

Thank you so much for posting.

  • A late, great mam knew that I really loved my aussie stuff when I was a kid and sent me a VHS with this and the classic Disney Aussie movies. I don't know how he got ahold of it. The originals had commentary, but for some reason it disappeared when I made it digital, and by then it was too late.

  • Please, can you tell how you had such a vidéo? Thanks

  • I am a dog trainer, i use to "dance" with my dogs and teach tehm many tricks, and I think that this is just Amazing. Thank you very much for posting. ♥♥♥

  • at the 4:10 mark there is a greyhound doing amazing tricks!!!

  • Ugh. Dogs doing these sorts of tricks make me worry about what their humans did to them to make them learn. :( Especially dangerous for a greyhound, with such slim bones.

  • @WelcomeToTheSeaCom - dogs wouldn't do these things with so much enthusiasm if they were forced. I have taught my dogs many tricks in this video using clicker training and reward. I do NOT use force or + punishment in anyway to teach them these things and their safety always comes first.

  • Ugh. Dogs doing tricks make me worry about what their humans did to them to make them learn. :(

  • @WelcomeToTheSeaCom haha, what they did to them?? Other than love and spend time with them which is what all dogs need?? wow. You ever own a dog?

  • @WelcomeToTheSeaCom haha, what they did to them?? Other than love and spend time with them which is what all dogs need?? wow. You ever own a dog? And what makes you think Jay punished his dogs? Read up on the guy instead of making ignorant posts.

  • @WelcomeToTheSeaCom You should'nt worry. These dogs have a lot of fun learning so many tricks, spending so much time with their owner who teach them using only reward ;) Take a look at my channel and website ;-)

  • @WelcomeToTheSeaCom Every morning, Sisler's wife used to make a few more hotcakes than were necessary for breakfast...

Jay used them to reward his dogs. ^^

  • La calidad del vídeo ya se ve que es mala pero no resta, calidad a los ejercicios me han encantado menudo equipazo de perros tienes un abrazo amigo y felicidades.

  • The music is most likely Celtic and if you look under Irish Celtic music you might find it.

  • I think I saw this act years ago when I was a little girl in Idaho at the Nampa Stampede Rodeo. Notice his outfit and it is old film quality.

  • this is exactly what the internet & youtube were designed for. forever capturing a moment which could have been lost to video age. & showing/sharing it with the world. this is fantastic

  • Boy, is my Aussie jealous.

  • Wow! The Aussies were awesome.

But the Greyhound was the jawdropper to me. I had always heard that sighthounds were not very trainable. Guess we learn something new every day.

This is absolutely priceless footage. Many thanks for the great upload!

  • may we enjoy each and every day in fun like this with our pups. pure abandon! I love it.

  • I love dogs. This totally rocked!!!

  • omg thats crazy! so talented!

  • Thanks for the great video! We featured it on our channel today, so come check it out :)

  • Impressive! And they are so clearly having fun.

  • The thing that strikes me as ususual is that back then, much of the training was harsh. It's so obvious and so delightful to watch such an amazing trainer with dogs that love him so much and are having so much fun right along with him!

  • Świetne!

  • awesome!!

    I wish I could have 2nd dog! :)

  • Truly amazing! He was far ahead of his time in his training ability.

  • Jay was blessed with a talent for training dogs alright. Very very impressive!

  • This made me teary - they obviously LOVE what they're doing, and each other. He was very special. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Amazing! Even better then (these days) Mary Ray!

  • Thank you so much, he was amazing would have loved to have learned how to do some of those tricks, & it is great to see these Aussies in action :)

  • BOING! BOING! :)

    That's awesome.

  • WOW....that is amazing....the coolest thing I have ever seen! :)

  • Amazing!!! As others have said -- especially since it was done in the 50's!! Amazing to see that there are tricks on there that I've never seen perfected in 2009!! Like the somersault - and everyone that does freestyle nowadays uses treats in teh hands constantly -- definitely not NEARLY as impressive -- !!!!!! This guy had it goin' on!!

  • Amazing. A great trainer. Especially if this was done in the 50s.. Wow.

  • What is really weird (and great) is that my Aussies started "acting up" when I started watching this video. One wanted to dance, no lie. Thanks so much for sharing this video -- is a must for all us true Aussie lovers!

  • This has made my life!! I've always wanted to see his act. You can read about it in books and see all the pictures, but this is amazing!! I love to see anything that is related to the early foundation Aussies. Thanks for posting this!!

  • OH WOW!!!! I am shocked!!!!What a bond between him and the dogs too!! Made my day! TY for sharing!!!

  • Love the greyhound in the middle especially!

    Jen

  • Fantastic, It's wonderful to see one of the Aussie founders in action and oh what action. He obviously had a great relationship with his dogs. Thanks for sharing.

  • I love this video! That is absolutely fantastic! And all without clickers I bet!

There is no way those dogs would do half of those tricks if they didn't trust their handler 100%.

    Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow, this is fantastic!!!

  • The song was supplied by YouTube: The Drunken Sailor/The Bag Of Spuds (Hornpipe And Reel) artist: Liz Carroll album: Lost in the Loop

  • I LOVE this particular track from this album...it was such a surprise when the it started that I thought one of my albums had begun to play on its own!

  • Erm...make that "when it started" -- that's what I get for editing and not rereading one last time!

  • Precioso trabajo, enhorabuena es genial!!

  • Wonderful! Does anyone know the title and artist of the song that is used for this clip?

  • LOVE IT!!! Totally Cool!

  • Great!!!

  • ufff AMAIZING

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • That's just awesome--great job!!

  • Brilliant, brilliant brilliant :):) what a talented, gifted trainer and what marvelous Aussies !!! :)
