  • spot on-he obviously gets it from the inside to do such a classy job-exactly right for a SYD TRIBUTE-!

  • Wow. That's so true to form , all you need is Hans Shisekellar to tell everyone he's too much of a musician to appreciate this , then , not back up the claim.

  • great job cap'n!

  • I can play that on a guitar. As a matter of fact it's the only thing I can play on the guitar, and it's the only thing I ever wanted to be able to play on the guitar. For the job: You need silver-plated flat-wound Pyramid strings. 13 gauge. The kind of strings that mortal guitarists can't hold down without going flughzzz.

Oh, tell a lie, I can actually play "Walk Don't Run", too.

  • rip cap we miss you 1957-2006 good bless

  • @knutfheifer the captain is alive and well!

  • @salvadory No, no he isn't, he left with dexies midnight runners wife and they both got run over by a train in glasgow central station, he had a balloon fetish

  • @knutfheifer gee then why did i just see him live with the damned about 9 months ago?

  • @salvadory Because he was in the village of the dammed and is now one of the un-dead, muahahahha

  • Magnifico!

  • BUMHOLES TO EVERYTHING!

  • I saw the Barbican tribute gig and I thought The Captain's performance was breathtaking. Its a pity that no one has any footage of his version of FLAMING,but this is a double tribute to two great men.

  • What ? the captain wasnt even the best guitarist in the damned,

  • hahahahahahahahaha a comedian

  • @ronnie7749 i hope i decect irony in your statement...never the best guitarist on stage due to drink but a master in the studio...but what a great player in a band...if it wasn't for sensible then i'de not have picked a guitar up as a kid and not want to learn...genius!

  • Damn!!! That was good!!!

  • chuffed

  • the captain is the best punk guitarist without a doubt!

  • i agree that he is a very underated guitarist - possibly the best i've ever saw live.

  • Captured exceptionally well. Knowing how the Cap loves the early Floyd, I bet you he adores playing that. If I played guitar, Domine's solo would be my priority to learn.

Check out Gilmour's version, live at Abbey Rd in 2006, on You Tube!

  • I agree it would be great to hear The Damned play this live.

  • Wow- fantastic stuff.. They do a really REALLY good job on this, and thats not an easy thing ; )

  • please oh please would someone be kind enough to post I'm a spider? if it is available live somehow.

I would love, love love it.

The little guitar part after "because theres nothing there to hurt you" is just beautiful.

  • Excellent stuff there Captain... what I'd really love to hear you do live is:

    Seagulls

    Nice Cup Of Tea

    White Rabbit

Mind you - when I saw ye play at Bolton not long back, I was chuffed that you did "Jet Boy Jet Girl" - belting stuff!

    :)

    Neil.

  • I was there at Barbican that night, and the performance was WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

  • Still think he is the most understated guitarist around and his nursery like lyrics are very Barrett

And this is here to prove he can step into syds shoes

Great version off the best floyd album

  • Good work Captain.

  • That is fucking brilliant, Captain. I wish The Damned would play this live.

  • If Captain was true to himself, he would admit he's not just a fan of the Syd-era Floyd. You can see he's a fan of the early 70s stuff too. It's obvious Captain - embrace it. Life's too short!!

  • This beats the original!

  • Absolutely stunning!

A superb performance of the song :)

    Dog

  • Salute the captain!

  • Sounds great - play it with the damned!

  • Sounded better then the David Gilmour version.

  • captain is rather a multi talented old fart really..

    Nice one mr Burns

  • Excellent this is !!Saw the show at the Barbican and came out that night really high at the excellent interpretations of the Syd songs

  • Great effort Captain,Syd would be proud of you !

and BLAH! to Dave Gilmour. :))
