I agree. I guess the enemy Shyguy is the enemy covering for the Goombas and Tweeter is the enemy covering for the Koopa Troopas. Even though it was only Mario's dream, I thought it still would have been best to have all the main enemies and all the main villains including Bowser since Bowser and his henchman probably haunt Mario's mind a lot where he's having a scary dream about them. (This was a fun game to play but I was a little sad at the end that I didn't win anything).
I agree. It was a disappointing ending since you never receive an award for killing Wart. As soon as Mario opened his eyes and looked around from 1:24-1:28, I was hoping that he would get out of bed and say something like "wow, what an amazing and scary dream, I can't wait to tell Luigi, Toad, and Princess about the four of us in the dream" while showing the four of them in the next scene talking. But I guess it was the middle of the night which is why he went back to sleep.

@lexzeyfercronus Not really that disappointing. I'm glad they brought this game to North America as Super Mario 2. It was one of my favorite games when I was a kid, and I still play it from time to time. I love its quirky charm and originality. Although I kind of wish they did keep it as dokidoki panic, because I think it would have made another great series for Nintendo.
@enriquez16 Sadly they could not do that as it was a game based on characters for a kids TV show and the people who owned the rights for the chars would want to be paid. That's why Nintendo reused the game but put Mario and friends on it instead.

it took me a couple tries to beat and its not too bad. a couple of problems, but still, not too shabby. 1 thing for sure though. its not as freaky ass as monster party ending even though they were both dreams. and the end graphics-WOW. though i only have the all stars pack with all the old mario series 1 - 3 and the "lost levels" which i think was supposedly the 2nd in the mario series but was too much like the old one. this mario 2 was a rip off from a game...cant remember the name though.

I had an audio tape detailing me beating this game in under an hour at one time. Also, if you notice, the proper 'total levels completed' numbers do not appear over the characters heads, that is a bug in the NES version only.

You know it's weird. The ending showed Mario sleeping which proves Subcon was just Mario's dream. Although Google did say it's a mystery if Mario really did went to Subcon. johnlewisbrooks, this game isn't original at all. It been made from an entirely other game for the Famicom Disk System called Doki Doki Panic. They didn't want to release the real Super Mario Bros. 2 because they thought it was too hard for American players. So they took this Japan-exclusive game and edited it to make it a Mario game. Get it now? And the real Super Mario Bros. 2 was the same thing as the original except with more features and it is harder.
I love the Mario series but this game used to piss me off back in the day. I never beat it on nes but for some very strange reason I remember seeing this ending on the game. I don't know how or why I saw it,. I thought maybe I left the game on too long and they showed Mario sleeping but i remember seeing it. I didn't beat this game until 2007 on gba.
Oh this brings back memories! This is one of the only video games I could ever solve. I got to where I started seeing if I could sovle it without taking any of the shortcuts.
I actually beat this game when I was 2 or 3... no idea how I had the hand-eye coordination to do it, but I did... and haven't seen this ending since. It's nice being able to read the ending since I didn't obviously know how to read 20 years ago lol

There are many good games like Final Fantasy, Gauntlet, 1943, gradius, rad racer, adventure island, etc. By the way I think that the all megaman games are cool.

That frogs name is Wart. However, it should have been Koopa because, Koopa is the arch enemy of Mario and Wart sounds like a made up villain.

This because of Doki Doki Panic roots of this game. During Doki->Mario conversion some translation errors has been made.

As near as I can tell this is still BY FAR the wierdest and most original Mario game.
And the ending was like hitting a baseball right out the park!

johnlewisbrooks, this game isn't original at all. It been made from an entirely other game for the Famicom Disk System called Doki Doki Panic. They didn't want to release the real Super Mario Bros. 2 because they thought it was too hard for American players. So they took this Japan-exclusive game and edited it to make it a Mario game. Get it now? And the real Super Mario Bros. 2 was the same thing as the original except with more features and it is harder.

I love the Mario series but this game used to piss me off back in the day. I never beat it on nes but for some very strange reason I remember seeing this ending on the game. I don't know how or why I saw it,. I thought maybe I left the game on too long and they showed Mario sleeping but i remember seeing it. I didn't beat this game until 2007 on gba.

I actually beat this game when I was 2 or 3... no idea how I had the hand-eye coordination to do it, but I did... and haven't seen this ending since. It's nice being able to read the ending since I didn't obviously know how to read 20 years ago lol

There are many good games like Final Fantasy, Gauntlet, 1943, gradius, rad racer, adventure island, etc. By the way I think that the all megaman games are cool.
