..I tell you all one thing, for 10-11 years of my life I lived in Kenya and many times I saw Hyenas harrassing Lionesses, I even saw 3 Hyenas attacking a Lioness, sometimes even if there were 8-9 Lionesses the Hyenas would still come to fight...but whenever I saw ONE yes ONE Male Lion appear all the Hyenas would disappear. If you don't believe me then go and see for yourself, Male Lions carry such a reputation with them that even if Hyenas were 10-13 in number they'd still run.
There's an important part before this clip in the original show -- the Hyenas had been harassing the lionesses, stealing their kills, cornering them, etc. So when the Big Guy shows up, you're really rooting for him.
Wow, pretty cool! Although...the lioness did put in the first bit of work. Was it not for her, the male lion maybe would have given up the chase. I would not have liked to be on the receiving end of those jaws!
