Your logic is flawed. It is also silly to assume that it is possible to abandon one's core beliefs when it comes to election time. You are also blind to the reality that our society's laws are based on morality -- the idea that there is an objective truth to which we are all bound. An unnatural bending of this objective truth results in many problems: if all pregnancies resulted in an abortion the human race would become extinct.

It's possible to abandon core beliefs. You'd be hard pressed to find a president who agrees with you on all your defining principles. Laws may be based on morality, but in the present age they should not arbitrate in such a diverse society. No show me the scripture that says stone the children, don't use technology, and use humans as slaves. They USED slaves. When a husband in a hospital has no brain activity the wife is allowed to pull the plug on him, so a mother should be able to do the same thing when the embryo has no brain activity.

So, by your own standards you would agree that the child is "alive" and the taking of a life after the first 40 days is murder. Of course, there is life as soon as the sperm cell fertilizes the egg because there is reproduction, growth, excretion, and sensitivity (the ability to respond to positive or negative stimuli). So, abortion, simply put, destroys life.
